It is rumored that Ivan Ukhov can pistol squat with 150 kg on his back. If anybody finds a video...

Yes one of the best things I have started to do lately is giving myself additional rest days when I need them.

In the past I would just "go hard at it" and train even when I'm tired etc, but in reality - if you need one more rest day so that your training day of tomorrow is better, then go at it.

What do you mean "excluding the bar"?

Why would you exclude the bar?

That's what I've been saying off myself - it's not that I lack the ability to develop power, it's the lack of control/breaking once that power has been developed.

Yes I can get very fast but once I'm there I don't have good enough breaks to stop/change direction (and jumping is a change of direction from horizontal to vertical). Hence my obsession with the breaks of the body - the quads.

Obviously there are other ways of having good breaks and taking some of the blunt from the quads, like having powerful calves and a good posture (so the glutes get some of the deceleration as well functioning at the hip).

Yeah deadlifts can definitely work as long as they are leg driven and not back driven. They even can get some quad work in there at the bottom of the lift.
