Yeah, that's really cool, you're basically part of history forever (and I'm not sarcastic saying this).

To me, if I try double arm swings in a maximal jump the jump leg is guaranteed to be overloaded and collapse.

So I think the key in getting this is to start submaximally and just focus on the arm swing while keeping the jumps short and not that tall (easy jumping) and increase jump amplitude over a few workouts.

Single arm swing does help me with dunking with the ball in hand though, since it makes the movement natural and easy.

so think about dunking the ball with two hands, off one leg...........

Well I suck at that ;D

Rim looks a bit higher than 10 feet maybe...

By the way, that lion kept on looking at you

Glad you guys like it!

@adarq: I actually got inspired by you with the socks sometime last year and wear them very often, usually when I do olympic lifts or for jumping. I actually have been wearing long socks for every volleyball competition for the entire last season. They are just awesome!

haha nice!!

ya man i love how high socks feel.. keeps my lower leg nice and warm, also somewhat compressive so it does feel better than with no socks.. i double/triple sock now.. hah

peace man

Maybe the most underrated part of that is the proprioceptive bonus that they give you. That's one of the reasons I wear thighs all the way down: having a material touch your skin makes you aware of your body position at all times.

I think the full squat is better suited for muscle gain as it's less specific to actual jumping but does recruit more muscle (better glute recruitment in a stretched position) and on a bigger rom, the TUT is longer and so on.

Half squatting is good for people who structurally don't squat good ATG or for people who are already at a high level muscularily and want more of a specificity workout at that point (better carryover to jumps).

Haha yeah, I never really read the posts, I usually just "throw my eyes" over what's written and memorize what I can in about 2 seconds or so, and then that's it. Heck, the context is important, right? :P

If you're not used to it then it might make you too agitated and make you fatigue easily, so keep that in mind.

I haven't seen and "sprints" being listed lately. In fact, ever.

Strength, Power, Reactivity, & Speed Discussion / Re: Dancing
« on: May 20, 2011, 03:51:38 pm »
That's all fine but that's what I'm getting at with you overthinking everything.  On a VJ and speed forum when someone says "black" they're generally not referring to Kenyan americans. I think you knew that. When the OP mentioned dancing he's not referring to professional dancers or anyone whose ever received professional dance training.  Take a group of untrained people and have them dance (or do any other physical maneuver) and you get a look at what type of people are inherently good at it and which ones aren't. Same goes with artwork or any other skill.  There are exceptions to everything but look at general tendencies.

Translation: if a guy puts a gun at your head and says "of these 100 people, choose a guy that you think dances well. If he doesn't, you die" you, whoever you are, will pick a black guy.

Oh, nice vag, going with sprints eh? I've never seen you do 2-leg bounds though, if your aim is two footed jumps. But sprints will definitely do a lot of good things to your body.

Article & Video Discussion / Re: Interesting Jump snatch variation.
« on: May 20, 2011, 10:14:44 am »
What if you have weak shoulders (for the weight your legs are capable of propelling) and still want to snatch, but don't want to take years of training your shoulders to reach that level?

So you snatch with your shoulders? lol!

Well no but you do need some good isometric strength to keep a heavier bar over head.

Interesting, maybe you should make a video about this, it could help a lot of people.
