10 miler to start my morning off. Been running on these loops for almost 20 years. I remember back in 2003 I was making a comeback after taking a break, at this point I hadn’t done anything since high school, I was 20 years old. I was trying to get back into school and get a scholarship. I was running here at night and I was just talking to myself, how I wanted to continue on with my running and I know I can be good at it, my times were modest 14:27 5k and 30:30 10k. January 2004 I got into the NAIA Division and that’s when life changed. 13:34 5k Pb at Mt Sac April 2006 and 10k Pb 28:25 in Oregon....Winning national championships in the division and then getting an American record and running a 2:12:27 Debut marathon the same year. When you think you are out of the game, hold on a little more, you never know what is right around the corner.

such a beast.

So I took a video of myself Hipthrusting 3 plate one each side, and tagged a European pro dunker who ALSO hipthrust 3 plate.

The pro dunker responded saying his max is somewhere in the 5xx range with a few reps. ( and a picture attached)

Not bad.  Consider I can probably thrust more.  So he set the bar higher for me.

Few days later... the pro dunker send me this in PM.

lol

3 plate hip thurst apparently is a joke .

interesting tho... after seeing her hip thrust 3 plates, your first thought is, "3 plate hip thurst apparently is a joke"? my first thought was "hmm she's strong". she could just be really strong?

plenty of unassuming girls/women out there who are stronger/faster than everyone on this forum.

i've never been a fan of hip thrusts .. no idea whether or not 3 plates is good or not, i'd imagine it would be decent. I doubt I could do it.

anyone who eats someone else's food when they aren't home, and doesn't tell them (so they can at least re-stock up on the way back home), can fuck off.

incredible that people like that exist.. so sad to know i'm genetically related to one.

Lunch run-
Wanted to do a straight 5k with no regard for HR.

ah damn nice. so that's what that was.. I didn't really get the "intervals sort of" title, but now it makes sense.

Quote
Was aiming to start at 5-5.30 pace and progressively get faster. Watch took ages to pick up my pace properly. After about 900m it showed I was running at 4:30/km. Way faster than I had intended. Ended up running that pace for the first 1.8k and then doing some 400 on 100 off type intervals.

i had the opposite thing happen to me at that 5k a few weeks ago .. started out decent, looked at my watch like 200m in, said 6:30 pace, I was like wtf? So I picked it up a little, then check it again 400m in or so and it said 5:20. then I laughed. that's also the power of the mental game too.. that 6:30 was probably 5:30, i either misread it or it wasn't settled yet.. nevertheless, I thought I was going 6:30 pace. hah.

killing it.

x2. sums it up nicely.

Workout

Run -- 6.04mi in 57:24

Notes

Super slow, avg 9:30/mi with one slower than 10:00. Somewhat sore and obvs fatigued from yesterday so no worries. Didn't check my watch during the run and just tried to keep it super chill. HR stayed in the 130s basically the whole time.

It was really cold (1C/33F) and really windy. Didn't realise that it would be windy so didn't have my jacket on. Big mistake, haha!

Ankle/achilles holding up well after yesterday, so this might be the week I go above 30mi.

killing it.

thanks!  :headbang: :highfive:

we did similar paces today, very similar workout. nice! I had one over 10 as well. I didn't check my watch either, though I did look at the time-of-day clock. I tried to keep my HR under 130 .. eventually it just sky rocketed to like 160-170's .. wonder if that's a glitch or my body just saying: go rest. I think the former.

6193
now all i want to do is miles and miles and more miles. didn't run this morning because gf correctly told me that i should give myself a little longer to recover than 14 hours after distance/duration PR.

your gf is smart, but eventually you'll be able to handle easy runs after something like that, without any added risk.

Quote
will not run tonight but tomorrow morning gonna get up early and do at 9+ km. 8 km needs to be the new minimum, including days with hill/speed work. got fired up by adarq's 5k PR and now i really want the damn 19:xx. mileage is the key and i'm not getting enough.

hah nice! :highfive: :ibrunning:

getting "fired up" is important too. just seems like lately you've been transitioning into more aggressive training, which is good. you took your time, were patient, and now you're getting the itch to push it more. sounds perfect.

and ya, increasing the mileage can definitely help. Low mileage routines can be extremely effective, but the intensity is much higher from what i've learned/experienced. So, someone can make some great progress on only 30 miles a week, but the intensity would need to be higher relatively to the total mileage than someone who is getting in 50-60 miles a week with lots of easy running. That easy running is "safer" and still builds the aerobic system & overall fitness/work capacity. sooo.. the time tested variation is to def get that mileage up a bit.

sub20 5k club is going to fill up soon!!!!

OMFG @ Nevada/Cinci .. WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

impressed with this coach. seems to really make his athletes work during these sessions, brings the intensity.

also, some of these "kids" in the videos are nuts.. South Florida is known for crazy athletic WR's/DB's/RB's.

quick clip of some NFL'rs doing footwork/drills .. so impressive.

this video is solid .. intense.
