we are the same weight now. will be interesting to see where you're at with squats and jumps once you get back on the wagon.

Well I had a little mini jump session today while shooting around and I can tell you that my SVJ is about 30'' (barely grazing 10'), and DSVJ is about 31'' (touching the ring). So I have definitely lost height but not as much as I thought. Plus this time around it's less daunting because I know I've improved on it in the past. Squat has probably dropped a fair bit but again, I know I will get it up eventually. I'd love to be at your level with the same weight, I think that would give me enough strength to get up pretty good.

yeah for sure. i would piss my pants if i hit 30" on a SVJ, so at least you know the baseline is still pretty darn good.

felt wack so called it. i'm going to take the day off work tomorrow so i'll do today's workout during the day and then play my frisbee game at night. not ideal but i'll just go extra light on wednesday. this keeps more or less on track.

word, difference noted. by back extensions do you mean on a 45-degree hyper thingy? like the top pic here:

or on a GHR machine?

yeah but you're up near where your squat was before and IIRC you hadn't done the super-heavy calf raises until the last however many months. did you just do GHR/back extensions before, or did you have some isometric work in before, too?

nice squat. i can't help but think that one of the major things you have going for you is a really strong back. i don't think it's my legs that fail me on heavy weights, it's that i pitch forward.

WEIGHT: ???
SORENESS: pecs
ACHES/INJURIES: inside left ankle, below bone, tweaking mildly
MENTAL STATE: happy, carefree

- 4-on-4 touch football x an hour and a half or so
once ankle started bothering me i switched to qb/qb defender. it's not hurt it was just weird so i figured to play it safe. pecs sore from the dips.

@vag, yeah i don't get it, either. it's very frustrating. on the plus side a low depth jump makes me jump higher, so at least i'm not a complete defective with respect to the stretch-shortening cycle.

but yes,  :raging: is right.

@raptor, i will film it soon. hadn't thought about pushing my hips back and bending over vs. keeping torso upright. i kind of feel like that would throw the jump forward but it's worth a shot.

i have a buddy who did a lot of karate as a kid. one time, in english class, in 11th grade, he was nodding off in class. our teacher was boring. anyway he was nodding off and then all of a sudden sat bolt upright and did a huge karate chop, hit the table with his hand, and nearly fell of his chair. the class basically passed out from laughing.

jesus christ, you're not fat. you've done an incredibly impressive job cutting down. the discipline is there, no question. but you're starting to get like adarq circa 2011 with his athletic anorexia shit. i realize you're kind of kidding but distorted body image ain't a joke. you're getting to the point where no matter how much weight you lose, you won't look that much leaner because you're thin. t0ddday had a good post about this a while back. three 6' tall guys at ~10% bf, one weighs 165 pounds, one weighs 175 pounds and one weighs 185 pounds. all else being equal, who looks leanest? the heaviest guy. adarq, even when he was under 150 pounds, never looked super lean. whereas t0ddday and kingfish look ripped despite weighing more at shorter heights and probably having equal or higher bf%.

what i'm saying is, let's do a bit of a bulk together, my brother. you can always lose the weight again later.

awesome depth on the front squats, btw.

IME trap bar recruits quads more. that's why it's easier. it's therefore less useful as an assistance exercise meant to target p-chain. not to say it's a bad exercise, obviously.

ACHES/INJURIES: none
MENTAL STATE: happy, good mood, excited to play again

so much better than tuesday. getting my legs back a bit. still got gassed but we were better with subbing today so i was never on for too long (well, maybe once). and i didn't suck so outrageously after i got tired. plus we blew the other team out of the water; it was close at halftime but i think we outscored them 21-2 in the second half. so that's always fun.

saturday, squat MSEM @ 335. yeehaw.
