A strength guy always has the option, in my opinion, of going for the reactive way of training because he has the strength. It's going to be a period of adaptations where things might suck but well...

One reason, beyond the obvious "this is a new thing", is that maybe the stabilizers and posture are not suited for that kind of jumping because of all the previous programming that basketball has done for a strength guy to jump the way he does.

So I believe it's only a matter of patience and "wanting" to do it.

Yeah you don't get too deep there and it's more vertical... harder to measure in terms of progression I think (since you're not putting your all to go in length which is measurable) but it's more specific to a VJ.

nice form on everything.. technically broad jumps don't count if you fall back, but whatever..

By the way - I don't like my form on the consecutive 2-leg jumps AT ALL, if you look at what my knees are doing your own knees are going to hurt just watching.

WAAAAAAY too much quad and depth there.

Yeah I like to use the "precipice" example to make my point about the broad jump... if you fall back you fall in the precipice. If your heel doesn't get past the line, the same thing happens.

But I looked... "weak" out there. I mean, I look reactive somewhat because I'm smooth in my movements (for reasons that escape me), but other than that I look weak.

The thing I love the most about these coaches is that they confirm a lot (A LOT) of my theories that I conceived just by observation and sometimes using myself as the guinea pig. So it's great to hear great coaches confirming what you were suspecting, especially when you get into arguments with retarded coaches that just follow books without thinking about what actually happens in a movement etc.

So it's very rewarding for me :D

I mean, he's absolutely right about what he says. And he's in pretty good shape too at 75.

Why? Hitting and running is a safe and efficient combat manner. Just ask the USA and it's laser guided missiles.

People were stupid back in the day when they would just march towards the enemy where the enemy would just shoot at them (~1800).

The idea is to inflict damage while you get none.

It's just human nature without the hypocrisy right there in the video...

I think the major difference between me and her is the fact that I don't pull my shoulders back (and the whole back, back) so to speak. So therefore hip extension doesn't occur. I need to focus on letting myself on my back a little more in the pull I GUESS.
