Ever thought of just working on SVJ for a month or so? SVJ calc says with your squat and weight you could be getting 34''  :o . If you're getting stuck in the 31-32'' range for your RVJs at the moment, increasing your SVJ to 34'' might help lift your RVJ floor. It's pretty rare to find someone who has a 34'' SVJ and does a good amount of reactive work to not at least get as high in a running jump.

Just a thought, it would be a good psychological boost at the very least to make some gains even if it's not in your desired measurable. I know I got one when I went from 34-35'' to 36-37'' RVJ; it reminds you that your body is capable of meaningful athletic improvements.

you know, that's not a bad idea and also might be inevitable for a bit after my gym closes and i search for a new home court for DLRVJ.

WEIGHT: ???
SORENESS: none
ACHES/INJURIES: none, yay
FATIGUE: low until the end of the workout, then suddenly high

- warm up

- DLRVJ/DSVJ x 6
i wasn't warmed up enough because i was rushing in advance of old man basketball. fuckers. but jumps would have sucked anyway despite the good sleep the night before. legs were just heavy.

- MR half tuck x 15,15,15

- MR ME pogo x 5,5,5

- ME SVJ x 3,3
got video, will post later. judging by where my heels got relative to my thighs while standing, i'd guess these were in the 26-28 range.

- squat 315 x 3,3,3 | 265 x 8,8,8
super strong except last set of 8. got fatigued and form started to break down, ended up with a lower back pump that hadn't been there before. will bump weight next time anyway.

- OHP 105 x 8,8

- pull up x 8,8
too easy

- stretch

I mean instead of putting the load on the ball of the foot, place your feet so that its focused more towards the mid foot.

oh so basically less ROM at the top (plantar flexed) end. thanks.

Progress Journals & Experimental Routines / Re: THE DREAM JOURNAL
« on: November 15, 2012, 08:05:43 am »
I was part of a crew that had robbed an 18-wheeler because it had something very valuable stashed in it. In the dream I wasn't even sure what it was. The crew was kind of big, maybe 10-12 guys, and the two leaders were brothers. The marked contents of the truck were firecrackers, and before we got in the truck to escape, one of the brothers lit them inside the truck. We all got in, me up front with the two brothers and the rest of the guys in the body of the truck -- it was hollow and had seats like a city bus, so I guess the storage was just in a shell around the center. I remember thinking that was pretty inefficient.

Eventually we pulled onto some back roads. it was pretty, lots of trees changing to fall colors. Everyone was laughing and in a good mood. a blue van coming at us from the other direction stopped in the middle of the road and a woman got out. I had a premonition and got down as low as I could. She shot at the brother who was driving and the truck swerved and slowed to a stop. The brother was hit but okay, not gonna die. The woman then came closer to the truck. We were all kind of paralyzed, not sure what to do. Obviously she had beef with our stealing whatever the cargo was. She started picking up rocks and throwing the bigger ones at the truck. She wasn't very good at it, though, so there was no threat. We all got out of the truck and then the woman turned into a tiger and started rolling around in the leaves.

The end.

ADARQ & LanceSTS - Q&A / Re: calf training
« on: November 14, 2012, 08:41:37 pm »
thanks lance. i'm not sure i get what you mean by moving the plate further toward the rear of my foot. i'm totally comfortable in dorsiflexion, so i can hang down off the edge of a plate from the ball of my foot, no problem. the issue is when i'm up on my toes.

interesting thought about iso's, i'll give that a try.

« on: November 14, 2012, 04:15:24 pm »
neither of you is adarq or lance, but thanks for the responses.

@entropy: it's not that my calves are small. my legs in general are pretty big.

@raptor: fair point. i might just be making shit up. i do think i go farther with four consecutive paused broad jumps than with four DL bounds. will retest tomorrow when i'm back in the gym.

i guess i'm just trying to figure out what it is really that's holding me back (down). i haven't had serious progress of any kind in months. part of that is travel and illness, but part of it has got to be specific weaknesses that i'm not working on well enough or hard enough.
