when i want to time myself i hold the stopwatch in one hand, click the button, and immediately start after clicking. i imagine that's a little less generous than "first movement" and allows for some consistency.

sorry about continuing the hijack, but adarq's journal didn't get to 300 pages without a few of 'em. 

Just a set of last few questions, as the time is getting close, i want to be prepared and am quite nervous.

1. On the back of the whey protein is said to mix crushed ice, is this necessary, or can you leave out ice.

what? that doesn't even make sense. you don't need ice.

2. Is it ok to add whey and creatine in the blender if so is it ok to add egg.

sure, if you're cool eating raw eggs. why would that not be okay?

3. Is 1 scoop of whey protein powder enough, what does it depend on?

what? enough for what? it depends on what you're using the shake for. if it's to get all your protein for a given day, then no, one scoop is not enough. if it's to get some extra calories and extra protein and you're already getting enough or almost enough protein over the course of the day, then it's plenty.

4 I also heard people putting alot of crazy stuff into the shake. what is allowed and what isn't

everything is allowed. why wouldn't something be allowed? you could put arsenic in there if you really wanted to.

5. Is this a good protein shake to use, just thought of it from the top of my head.

    1. Place 1 scoop protein powder to milk 250ml
    2. add 5g creatine
    3. add peanut butter, chocolate spread, ice cream,  cocoa powder anything with alot of calories and sugar
    4. add some fruits maybe i.e. banana's i don't usually like banana smoothie but will hold it in.

can someone post their protein shake recipe they use when doing workout such as hypertrophy.

sounds great. here is my smoothie recipe:

handful of frozen strawberries
small handfull of frozen blueberries
two scoops whey protein concentrate
two spoonfulls of peanut butter
one banana
enough water to fill in between the frozen fruit

here is my protein shake recipe:

two cups milk
one or two scoops WPC
squirt of chocolate syrup

Gym:

TKEs on leg extension: 3x20/leg@light weight

Leg curls: 3x20/leg@light weight

Calf raise machine (DL so as to not put weight on left knee): 1x40@40kgs, 2x30-35@50kgs, 1x20@30kgs

Light squats: 3x6@bar weight

Core, massive foam roll/stretch

Very light session just to get some blood flow going around the legs. Knee felt fine throughout, prob could have done squats but there's no need to rush it. I'll see how it feels on the weekend, write this week off and hopefully just start again next week.

gay people aren't a minority? what planet do you live on? is greece like 70% gay or something? can gay people get married there? can they adopt children? is there absolutely no discrimination against them, in the workplace or elsewhere? do they, in fact, enjoy the advantages of being the group in power? and yes, one can say when you're over the border. it's when the group you are denigrating is an oppressed group, and you are in a group of power relative to that group. you and i are straight white men. we are ALWAYS in a group of power.

also, i think you misunderstood me. calling something gay makes the world worse for gays. calling someone a pussy makes the world worse for women. it's the same principle. pussy is worse.

That's hypocritical and too politicaly correct. Ive got nothing against gays. It is the same like calling someone a pussy, it does not make you a mysoginist and does not mean you inimidate women etc etc etc. Of all people i thought you would be more open minded. no, you are wrong on this. you are right that some expressions lose their etymological origins and become inoffensive. for example, i guess, "suck" or maybe to a lesser extent "bitch." some do not. for example, nigger. but the word "gay" in american english (can't speak for the brits) is still used as a term FOR GAY PEOPLE. calling something gay in a pejorative context associates things you think suck with gay people. therefore, it implicitly denigrates gay people. i'd guess that "gay" as an insult is probably moving in the direction you're talking about, away from its origin and toward a generic insult like "stupid." but, for the time being, but it hasn't lost the etymology yet. calling something "gay" or calling someone a "faggot" to put it/them down contributes toward making the world a more difficult place for gay people to live. do not like.

calling someone a "pussy" is the same. you suck, therefore you are like a person with a pussy, therefore you are a pussy. we all know who has pussies.

full disclosure of my own guilt: sometimes i call things "retarded." i never did that growing up, nor all the way through college. only picked it up in the last couple of years, probably from spending too much time on the internet. but it's in the same category as "gay," in that using it as an insult makes the world a worse place for people with mental or psychological disabilities. so i decided to stop doing it.

also, fuck putting me or anyone down for being "politically correct." that's a term used by bigoted people who don't like to be made to feel uncomfortable in their bigotry, so they invented a term to invalidate the viewpoint of anyone more compassionate than they are. you can't say anything after someone has called you "PC." they've taken you out of the conversation. everything you say from that point on can just be cast aside as "oversensitive."

there is such a thing as being oversensitive, but i draw the line at casually insulting, as a straight white male, members of oppressed groups. even indirectly.

also, as a point of clarification, you don't have to have anything against gays or even be homophobic for your use of the word "gay" to be offensive.

in the end, if you disagree with me, that's fine. i appreciate your respecting my personal sensitivity.
