herd these guys are the most explosive...don't they get out faster in the first 10m than the pro sprinters?

Often times, yes. Some of the big shot putters and discus throwers come out of the blocks faster than a lot of sprinters. Like this guy. At some point in this vid it shows Brian Oldfield winning a race against a sprinter. Brian was the world record holder in the shot put til Randy Barnes came around.

Lacking may be different for different people. For a bodybuilder, if they're not 18 inches around, they may be lacking. For a powerlifter, if they burn worse than their legs do after a heavy squat workout, they may be lacking. For a sprinter if their feet are slapping the ground towards the end of the race, they may be lacking. Basically if they are what's holding you back, they may be lacking.

Calfs aren't useless. Like JoelJ said, they are a useful stabilizer, and on top of that, they aid in flexion at the knee. I do agree with JoelJ, no real need to train them unless they are lacking, but it doesn't hurt.

What time of day are you gonna be lifting? Just right after track?

Yeah, I don't have anything against the stack, I just felt like I should give my 2 cents. You seem to have done some studying up though. Keep that up, listen to some people that have tried it, and if you decide to try it, do tell us all how it goes.

You'd better win state this year. Just sayin.

If you do I'll buy you a steak dinner. However you have do the same for me if I win state. I think its a fair trade. Oh yeah, and that's one dinner per event.

You're on. :ninja:

Oh good  ;D I'm excited for my steak already :P

Also, I expect to be buying you a steak or two. Just saying.

How did that article you wrote on me turn out? When will the school put out the paper? I'm anxious to read it.

Don't know, don't care. Lol. It turned out well though. Everything I'm doing in my classes is busy work, I swear.

haha, fair enough :P

All I've heard is that it's dangerous :( sorry if I'm ruining this for you, but I just thought I should let you know that's what I've heard. I could be wrong, so keep researching and listen to the guys who really know what they're talking about, but that's what I've heard.

That's one of the reviews I've read that have given bad results.

However, I'll restate, I could be wrong. This review could be BS, but I'd be careful and do your research first.

Strength, Power, Reactivity, & Speed Discussion / Re: Bench Press
« on: March 09, 2011, 10:18:41 pm »
I didn't have time to read this whole thread, so my apologies if I am restating or directly contradicting someone, I just gotta be somewhere and I wanted to make my mark here before I forget.

I have always been big on benching, ever sense I started. I got up to a 355 pound bench at 185 bw at 17 years old (almost a RAW WR)  However, i recently decided to do push press as my main upperbody lift. Not to say I don't bench anymore, I just use it as a supplementary lift instead of a primary. Bench is a great lift, but for my purposes, push press is more practical. I'm a shot putter and a highland games athlete, and bench was to flat of a lift, I needed strength in a upward direction instead of just straight out. I began to look into other alternatives and eventually came to the decision to prioritize push press. It has already helped immensely with my throwing, and its just a fun lift. Not to mention if you can push press a lot, you can probably bench a lot, but it doesn't necessarily work the other way around. In any case, I've found that push press has been great for me, and its not so hard on the shoulders, unlike bench can sometimes be. If I remember I'll come back and read the rest of this thread and I might say a few more words :P anyway, sorry for the lengthy post, hope I helped at least somebody. See ya'll later.

I used Hemorage for a while, and to be honest, I really didn't like it. I've heard great things about Jack3d, in fact I was gonna try that one out next. Also heard some good stuff about white flood.

I've been looking around, and all I've been able to find is "speculation" that he's on steroids. He refused a few drug tests and some other stuff, so it's very likely, but as far as I can tell, he hasn't failed a test yet. Not to say he is or isn't, that's just what I've found. But ya know what? Even if he is, that's some mad strength. Steroids don't just magically make you strong, he had to work friggin hard for that one way or another. Also, you may think he's fat and ugly, but I'm pretty sure he could knock your teeth out. Just sayin.
