alright guys. so my aau and bball season finally ended. im going 2 start my training for real now. my dad used to be a strenght training coach as well as a professional body builder, long story short. he made this workout for me

WORKOUT A: Deadlift - set 1 = light warm up 10 reps, set 2 = add more weight 4-5 reps to get the body ready for the heavy weight, set 3 is a set were you go 2 absolute failure. once you can get over 10 reps u add weight

so for example, today my last set with deadlifts was with 225, and i got 6 reps. next saturday when i do workout A again, i will use the same weight for my deadlifts and i will know if i get stronger if im able to do more reps, hopefully ill be able to get at least ten, so i can then move up to 235.

nice man, as you probably already know, just do not sacrifice form for 1 second on those deadlifts.. high rep deadlifts can cause people to get sloppy, don't let it happen!

Quote
so workout A is the deadlifts and the exact same set up for dumbbell presses(today i got 55's x 8)

workout B, which i will be wednesday( rest 3 days before doing next workout) is squats and lat pulldowns, with the same guidlines as workout A. im also going 2 be doing plyos on these days as well, and i may through in a couple more things, such as step ups, split squats and calf raises, but the main exercises will remain the deadlift, db press, squat, and lat pulldown.

im also going 2 stretch 30 minutes a day, along with drinking a minimum of 8 glasses of water per day. im also changing my diet as well.

ill let everyone know how this works for my vert, i think this is going 2 be an interesting little experiment. today i got down my first dunk with two hands, nothing powerful, but at least i still have room 2 improve.

ill keep everyone updated;)

cool man keep us updated. hope you get some real nice gains.

8 glasses of water thing is good too, i need to force myself to drink extra water because of how much water i lose during workouts.. if i let myself get dehydrated i pull muscles/strain tendons alot easier.. so smart move on your part.

peace

yea man im deffinetly not goin 2 get sloppy with those deadlifts, i wont sacrafice form for 1 extra rep. and i hardly drink any water so this is something i rlly need 2 start doing

HUGE PR'S TODAY! FUCKSHITFUCK  :) ;) :D ;D >:( :( :o 8) ??? ::) :P :-[ :-X :-\ :-* :'(
after a weekend of non stop games, i decided to go out and test my vert today. i couldnt be happier with my results as of now ;D. i can finally grab rim off a standing jump, and only need like 2 inches to grab it with both hands off a standing jump. My 1 leg jumping felt better than ever, and i had a huge PR on my running to foot vertical. On my first try i got my whole hand above the rim, which ive never done, and that alone was a PR. But after that i tried some lobs and i got like an inch and a half of my wrist over the rim! that gives me a 35 inch running vertical! I didnt try and dunks off a run up cus my ball was slippery and i was having numerous heat strokes. After a college camp this weekend i am going to start my new training on monday july 5th. I cant wait to start doing plyos, i havent done any at all and im jumping higher than ever, im starting think maybe i can get closer to 38-40 if i get that squat up to 2x bw and start doing plyos. heres the link 2 the video and a pic from today

Just wanted to give you guys an update. After squatting really frequently and heavy 2 weeks ago, i took all of last week off. Then this past weekend i had my last aau tournament. So last night i had a summer league game with my varsity team, and i was so tired from the tournament on saturday and sunday. So during halftime of my game, a bunch of these black city kids (like scary city kids, kids who look like they should be damentors from harry potter) were all trying to dunk. So i grabbed my ball and thought id try, when i asked them 2 move over so i could try they all started laughing, which you would expect seeing im 5'8 and white. But i took 3 steps, off the dribble, and got like 9 inches over the rim and threw down, clean and hard. it was my best dunk to date, it felt so good ;D!

Had a nice workout today. Im not starting the workout i previously posted before for another 2 weeks or so until AAU ends next weekend, but i still wanna keep working til then.

todays workout:

squat - 3x8 @ 225lbs. got real low on the squats, felt great. but they were hard, now that im actually going below parallel, im not as strong as i thought i was. but i cant imagine how high ill be jumping once i start squating 2xs my bw.

seated calf raises - 3x8 @125. calves are dead right now

step ups - 3x5 for each leg @ 135. felt good, the last set was pretty hard but i kept good form. i think these are gunna help with my 1 leg, or at least i hope.

depth jumps - 3x8 off an 18 inch bench

dumbbell bench press - 3x8 @ 55lbs. gonna move up to 3x5 @ 60lbs next week.

After all this i went into the gym and did some running jumps. I was grabbing rim with two hands pretty easy. but couldnt get close to getting any dunks down. legs deffinetly need 3-4 days to rest.

UPDATE:
Note to God: why did you give me size 13 feet, a reach as high as the average 6'2 person, and yet you make me only 5'9 tall? ???

hahaha! i'd like to know his answer also.. damn you got big feet man.

i know man it sorta sucks, not many stores carry sizes over 13 so i gotta be quick to get a good pair of shoes.

My middle brother is 6'1" and has 12-12.5 feet and the youngest one is 6'3" and size 13. I'm the oldest, at 5'11" and size 10.5-11. I could still beat both of them up, though >:( >:( >:( >:(

Anyway, the point is: Don't lose hope, grasshoppa. And if worse comes to worst, you at least know that you can reach higher than plenty of people who are taller than you. Like Rajon Rondo.

haha im 17, ill be 18 in october. and i know what u mean, my brothers is 13 and hes almost 6ft tall wtf??

at least u have reach on your side...
can u imagine how hard it would be get by you?

you don't even have to be too near a person to guard his J!

haha youre right. it deffinetly helps

UPDATE:

I measured my standing reach in shoes just now, and my reach is 94.5 inches. I can get all but an inch of my hand over the rim off a two foot running jump, so as of now my running vertical is 32.5, and my standing vertical is 26.5  :-\

not as good as i thought it was, but i still have a lot to improve on.

Note to God: why did you give me size 13 feet, a reach as high as the average 6'2 person, and yet you make me only 5'9 tall? ???
