Program Review / PJF Performance- Paul Fabritz (Vert Code Elite)
« on: July 12, 2022, 08:02:31 pm »
Has anyone had any experience with any of Paul's programs? I've been listening to his podcasts recently and it's obvious he has a ton of knowledge and the way he talks about vert training, agility, strength, etc it all makes logical sense. Haven't come across any red flags so far and he does a good job at expanding on others knowledge (Ben Patrick) without talking down about them.

I'm looking at Vert Code Elite to run next year once I have a solid strength base and have lost all the fat I need to lose.

Basketball / Chicago Bulls- The Last Dance Documentary
« on: April 20, 2020, 08:33:32 pm »
Two episodes in and this is already a cracker. Did anyone else watch it?

Not sure if its a factor of being on the other side of the world or being so young at the time but I never knew of Jerry Krause's involvement in the end of that era. Also never knew of Pippen's dissent in that final year. It's amazing though how ego is always the ultimate destroyer.

Progress Journals & Experimental Routines / 40x40
« on: June 05, 2019, 02:43:44 am »
New log time. Been contemplating this for a bit. Fresh start and all. Really though I've been faffing about for a while now and think a new log without the clutter of the previous one will help me focus. One main goal for this log is to have a recorded 40" vert by my 40th birthday which is in roughly 349 days. My most recently recorded vert test was 32" in mid April this year off the back of maybe 4 weeks of consistent training. Weighing in at 90-91 at the time. I'm not sure I can add 8" in 12 months but I can certainly try. All training will be focused on this one goal.

The following is a checklist of items I think I need to tick off in order to reach the goal:
- bw of 85kgs- I have at least 6-7kgs of fat I can lose. Want to be no more than 8%.
- consistent jumping practice- practice that skill
- Loose calves, quads and hip flexors- these have been tight for years. Like decades.
- Have elite core strength- this is the one area I've never trained. I've had decent squatting and deadlifting strength. Never had good or decent core/hip flexor strength. This could be a huge missing link for me.

Reading, Books, & Sheeit / Cogle's Book Club
« on: February 18, 2019, 12:58:59 am »
Inspired by Mutumbo000 and Adarqui. I used to read a lot. Like a lot. Now...not so much.

Currently reading this monster. I'm only a hundred or so pages in out of the 800 but it's a very easy book to get lost in.

Progress Journals & Experimental Routines / 2019 Vert Comp
« on: January 09, 2019, 10:34:20 pm »
So I'm a competitive bastard. Even seeing other people at the gym makes me competitive and I think I do my best when I've got something to go up against. Is anyone up for a vert comp? I'm thinking test verts - train - test verts again - profit!

Thoughts?

I've titled it 2019 but I'm thinking more a 12 or 16 week thing.

EDIT-

Nutrition & Supplementation / Pea & Rice Protein
« on: December 12, 2017, 10:41:11 pm »
I'm off all cows milk at the moment mainly due to skin issues that it causes which includes any form of whey. I do get sinus issues a bit more when I have a lot of dairy too but it's more the milk that's the issue. Anyway, just got an order of Pea and Rice protein from Bulk Nutrients called Earth Protein. It's chocolate flavour and aside from tasting like the earth itself it seems to be doing the goods. I've had egg white protein before which was super eggy, have looked at beef protein and some other non whey options but this is my first time trying it out.

Anyone else gone away from whey?

MOVIES & ENTERTAINMENT & SHeeT! / Icarus- Netflix
« on: October 30, 2017, 07:48:24 pm »
Has anyone seen Icarus? I watched it a couple of weeks back and then listened to Bryan Fogel on the Rogan podcast. So incredibly fascinating. The absolute control that they had over the athletes and they doping program is unbelievable. I mean I know professional athletes use PEDs. After watching this and listening to the interview I would pretty much doubt if any athlete is clean.

Pics, Videos, & Links / Chinese Oly Lifting Camp Videos
« on: June 05, 2017, 07:18:10 pm »
Have been following Diane Fu on IG for a while and she's at a Chinese lifting camp with plenty of champs and some WR holders training there. She's posting a ton of vids on her IG along with a heap of stories showing their training. Pretty interesting stuff.

Especially cool to see what they do with a lack of equipment. Case in point...

Basketball / NBA 2016-2017 Season
« on: October 26, 2016, 12:29:19 am »
Watching the SAS/GSW. Was looking forward to the excitement machine but there's something oddly satisfying about watching GSW getting pumped at home. 4th quarter and they're down by 28.

Also watched some of the CLE/NY game. I know it's the Knicks but Lebron is looking very good.

Nutrition & Supplementation / Exogenic Ketones
« on: July 14, 2016, 12:23:34 am »
Thoughts on ketones? I am coming across more and more guys going full keto but there seems to be a way to get some benefits without going low/no carb.

http://www.lift-run-bang.com/2016/01/exogenous-ketones-how-hell-did-i-get.html

Put the price aside for the sake of this discussion.  Also, put aside that Paul Carter looks to be repped by the manufacturer. Just for the moment anyway.

Have been thinking about something like the anabolic diet for a while and this may provide somewhat of a nice balance. It's also not all about performance though as I've been reading a lot on the overall health benefits involved.

Rose to Knicks:

This has me excited. Can the Knicks become a force again? I'm hoping this change of scenery and the "big stage" can bring D Rose back to his best.
