Strength, Power, Reactivity, & Speed Discussion / movement analysis
« on: February 09, 2011, 07:03:14 pm »
I'm looking for some footage of people running or doing various drills (filmed from the front and/or from the side) so i can analyze technique, muscle weaknesses, imbalances, tightness, range of motion, joint sequencing, differences in time on the ground/air, unnecessary movements etc

this could help

1) you: by finding out where possible injuries can occur or what might limit your current performance
2) me: by improving on those skills=)

if any of you guys are willing to film and post a video, it would be nice to have:

- maximal speed sprinting (more than 30yards or meters from an upstart) - from the front and from the side (5-10 meters/yards away from direction you are sprinting)
- a backwards movement such as walking trying to kick your butt, or long strides trying to kick your butt - filmed from the side
- a sideways movement such as sideways bouncing, or lateral easy jumps filmed from both the front and the side
- backward or forward lunges - filmed from the side and from the front
- any sort of slower speed drill (high knees, ankle rolls, light skipping) from both the side and the front
- double leg low intensity jumps forwards for 10 meters/yards, not focusing on height or distance, just relaxed jumping - from both front and side

I'm not asking for everything that's in there, but the more you can get the better. The first 2 are the most important. Even one of them will be able to tell a lot.

here's an example (look at the comments)

fuck me, raptor overcomplicating sutff agian.

i dont think u need to weight stuff, be worried about how much u eat how much u shit how much u jerk off or whatever.

u pretty much want ur body to dictate what it 'wants' to eat.

and to do that the first weeks are rly hard, but then it gets used to it

if all u do is make a list of healthy foods without fukin sugar and aditives and all sorts of shit, buy them, AND EAT THEM, in whatever proportions u like. if u eat 100 eggs a day for a month u are NOT going to die.
as long as u eat healthy,  i think u can lose weight

crazy volume wtf
what usual rest do you do for the interval sprints?

A better observation would be how the body-fat is stored. If you knew how to differentiate potential visceral adipose tissue from subcutaneous distribution you'd have a pretty decent barometer of athletic potential.  Performance in speed-strength activities correlates strongly with tesosterone level, which correlates with FT fiber expression and VAT storage.

An easier observation is just look at the hands and the 2D:4D ratio. A longer ring (the 4th) finger indicates greater testosterone exposure in the womb and likely greater testosterone expression in adulthood.  If your pointing finger is longer than ring finger you're likely not as testosterone dominant and vice versa. If the 4th finger on one hand is noticeably longer than the one on the other hand that indicates very good testosterone sensitivity.

wow, brilliant info

any chance you can you expand on this: If the 4th finger on one hand is noticeably longer than the one on the other hand that indicates very good testosterone sensitivity? do you mean the difference in finger length between left and right hand  ?
