tl;dr version
Current: Squat 420, weigh 210
July 1st: Squat 440, weigh 210-215
Sept 10th: Squat 415+, weigh 185 (2.25x bw squat is goal)

I also want to incorporate plyos. How?

My plan is to max my squat at least 440lbs by July 1st, while weighing between 210-215lbs.
Currently, I'm at ~420lbs and weigh ~210lbs.
I need 20lbs more in 6 weeks, or 3.3lbs a week.

After July 1st, I'll be on summer vacation in Europe, where it is ALWAYS VERY EASY for me to lose weight. I regularly lose about 15-20lbs every summer (within 45 days) without even trying. This time, I will try.

I want to drop to about 185lbs by September 10th, while trying to maintain my max squat as much as possible (no lower than 415lbs). Assuming I'll be at 215lbs on July 1st, this is a 30lb drop in 72 days. But hey, I might weigh less, or my squat might not drop that much so I don't even need to lose as much weight to get to 2.25x bw in my squat.
Also
, since I measure myself in clothes, and since I'm creatine loaded right now, and since I'll fast for Ramadan for a part of the summer, about 10lbs of this will be VERY easy to get off (clothes and a lot of water weight). Then there's the other 20lbs, which I'll work for.

At the same time, however, I would like to work on my plyometric ability. I have not done heavy plyos in about a year.
I mean, if I'm just trying to maintain my squat, I might as well do some plyos, right?

So, this is where I need your help. This is what my workout looks like right now:

Mon
Squat 3x5 (355lbs)
Bench 3x5 (200lbs)
Chin up 3x5 (+45lbs)

Wed
Squat 1x1 (355lbs) [light day]
Bench 3x8 (185lbs)
Chin up 3x8 (+35lbs)

Fri
Squat 3x5 (360lbs)
Bench 3x5 (205lbs) <-------- So basically I go up 5lbs every workout on squat, bench, chin once I complete all 3x5.
Chin up 3x5 (+50lbs)

Question is,

Can somebody create a workout template for me where I focus on squat (mon-wed-fri, wed being light) but introduce some plyos for 4 weeks?
(keep in mind I don't mind gaining weight here)

THEN

Can somebody create a workout template for me where I can focus on heavy plyos, while maintaining squat for 8 weeks?
(keep in mind I'm trying to lose fat here)

Most I've ever done (for 5 reps) in my life. That was the 3rd set of 5 reps.

Tuesday will be the milestone day where I will hopefully get 365x5 for at least one set. It will probably be just one set, and the last rep will probably be a grinder.

LOL @ "What are you training for?" at the very end, had no clue he said that till I uploaded this.

At 1:18 and 1:35.
I'm pretty sure I got higher on the first one. Any measurements on my vert based on the hang time?
There's also slomo in this vid if that makes it easier. Camera records at 30fps, but I'm not sure what playback on youtube is like.

This is just something I'll never understand. Some people say if you weigh more, you'll be able to squat more faster because you'll put on muscle faster (okay, I can buy that due to hormonal changes and stuff) and because you'll have better leverages.

WTF? How?

It just doesn't make sense. If my upper body is heavier (from fat, or even from muscle), and I'm pushing with my legs, I'm pushing more weight. Otherwise, doing bodyweight squats with no barbell would be easy as hell for fat people.
If my arms weigh more (from fat), benching will not be easier because it's more weight pushing down. I'm working against gravity here. The only way it'll be easier is from a half inch less ROM from getting a bigger/fatter chest.
If my arms weigh more (from fat), rowing will not be easier because I'm pulling my arms up against gravity.

This "better leverage" crap for squatting coming from weight gain has to stop. The only way it would help is if you're working with gravity, like in a tricep pushdown. Otherwise, go ahead and put on a 30lb weight vest and see if you can reach a new PR in your squat because that new weight is giving you better leverage. Or you know what, wrap a weight belt around your thighs and see if that even helps. It won't, it makes it harder.

I think I posted about this event a while back but nobody replied... well as I said it would be, it was pretty sick. Awesome venue, and awesome sound system. So damn clean and crisp with deep bass that is nice and punchy, not shaky and muddy. Ferry Corsten DJ'd for 4 hours. The first and 4th hours were okay, but the 2nd and 3rd were just BANGIN'

Check some of my vids (1080p). I don't have the best tracks on here because I wanted to enjoy them and not worry about recording, but you can still see the energy:

I love them man... I'm so happy they're coming out with new stuff. It's trance and somewhat housy btw, with lots of instrumental tracks too. So far, only 5 of the tracks have been heard:

Best End of the Night - Nice... perfect instrumental for studying for exams for me.. dreamy too.. check it:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=waGXtKJuico

ID - Don't know the name yet, but will probably be my fav track of the album. it's an outro mix and i love it based on this vid. fast forward a bit, it's not just boom-boom-boom, it slows down:

ID - No name yet, instrumental, not too bad, but not special imo:

Sun & Moon - Pretty nice, kinda cheesy imo... anyway, i'm glad they're bringing back the supersaw though!

May or may not be "perfect form," i just put that there for more views.

And my voice sounds weird in those vids... i do NOT sound like that. wth??

Mine have been pointing out my entire life. My right one points out more than my left. It's really annoying. How do I fix it?

Well, more importantly, what causes it? How can I find out if it starts at my ankle or my hip?

It's the last (4th) set of my Saturday Smolov Jr workout. My shorts are rolled up in it to expose my thighs. My quads are relatively huge compared to my hamstrings that barely exist. Tomorrow I'll upload 3 of the 4 sets that I did and put it into one video.

I look like an idiot lol.

Squatted 8x4 at ~338lbs Friday and 4x3 at 355lbs Saturday, and got this high today:

Estimating ~38" running vertical there:

Rim is 120"
Bottom of backboard is 114" (or 6inches away from rim)
ASSUMING 6'2" height in shoes (which is 74")
Guessing head is 2" away from backboard:

114" - 2" - 74" = 38"

Head might be 3" from backboard, but I'm like 6'0.5" and this wasn't my best jumping day, so I know FOR SURE I can hit 38" legit. I think if I deload I'll hit 40" no doubt about it in like a month.

EDIT: O btw the 355x5 should move me up to a 375lb max squat in the rankings.

Pics, Videos, & Links / Can I have analysis on my jump technique please

Skip to :13... extra slow at :20

I squat deep as hell because I like it and it feels good. However, looking at what was probably a 37" running jump in this vid (one of my highest ever), I have a really sideways plant with like minimal knee bend. The left knee bends good, but the right knee (since I plant LR sideways) barely bends at all. Also, my lead-in step is pretty damn big. You can also see my side-plant at :04 here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qoPmRErov6A

One thing, however, that I notice I do well is that my gather is somewhat quick. Soon after planting my left foot, my right foot comes flying in (I learned this is good from here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ipv_5QIVNt8). I think what you want (and you can see this better in my slowmo) is for the right foot to be planted right before you descend completely and stabalize enough to begin the concentric portion of the jump. In my vid at :23 you can see that my right foot comes in JUSTTTT after the eccentric portion is done.. I'm thinking it'd be better if it came in JUST before, so I'll work on that. I mean, that should minimize GCT a bit and provide more force since two legs can stabilize the eccentric better than one, right?

Crazy Weird Analysis & Stuff :) / Smolov jr "wave loading"
« on: February 10, 2011, 12:56:22 pm »
Got the idea from Adarqui's post in DamienZ thread on his smolov progress so far... these have been my workouts (you'll notice it's imperfect, as I missed some days and pushed a few others back). I put the est 1RM in there as well as according to the exrx calculator.

Format:
date - weight setsxreps (est 1RM)

Quote
245 6x6 (285250 7x5 (281270 8x4 (295255 6x6 (296270 7x5 (304288 8x4 (314265 6x6 (308275 7x5(309295 8x4 (315315 10x3 (334275 6x6 (319285 7x5 (321308 8x4 (336325 10x3 (344285 6x6 (331300 7x5 (338315 8x4 (344335 10x3 (355402295 6x6 (343310 7x5 (349328 8x4 (358345 10x3 (365305 6x6 (354320 7x5 (360335 8x4 (365355 10x3 (376) [Yet to be completed]

Well analysts, make of it what you will. Particularly, I like how after every Saturday workout (the 10x3's) the 1RM drops a bit as compared to the next Monday workout. That should provide a bit more recovery for the next workout, which is a good thing since we lift two days in a row on Fri/Sat.

For the regular smolov base mesocycle, all the 6x6 would be 4x9, and the 1RM would actually shoot up after the smolov workout in most cases... holy shit.. that's tough (but it's only for 3 weeks)
