Program Review / Re: Vertfreak
« on: April 02, 2011, 03:52:04 am »
Long ago (about 5 months ago), :( I was a fan of Adam Link because of his story about his journey from a humble 'farm' boy to an astonishing 7 time ACC gold medalist. I decided to try out his program to help me achieve my own dreams on dunking. And because the review on verticaljumping.com by Jack Woodrup on Become a Freak say that the program is decent, I bought it. I didn't know by then that I will waste my money ($77 which is around P3200 in the Philippines which is a lot.). I had high expectations on the program.

It increased my squatting capacity by 15kls within 1 and a half months (100kls-115kls) but it was a newbie gain. During those months, I also increased my weight by 4kls which almost canceled out my relative strength gains. The plyometric exercises was too much high volume for one work-out. (see my log) I'm better of doing the Intro Block by Adarqui which after a month, I can do 115kls x5 (not max) and an inch or so higher with my vert.

And the information inside the program is not terrific as reviewed on verticaljumping.com it was horrific. The info about nutrition was just one paragraph, same with most of the sections. (Maybe except with the Jumping Technique but other info was very horrible.) I think he just did the whole program within an hour. I was better off reading VJB than VF 2.0. I'd be better off reading this site's info than that of VF 2.0 that's full of Adam links Opinion with no back-up research.

I only did the Beginner Explosive Work-out for 11 weeks because I didn't saw any gains and took the 12th week off. I gained almost nothing(Less than half an inch). The hard-work put in it is not worth the hardships(obviously).  And Adam Link, before he joined the f-ing Maroko Scammer Group, sold his program for only $20 (I just discovered this from a post by an Adarq.org member) and now selling it for $77. What a rip off. I should have bought Prof. Verhosh's (don't know how to spell it) book, Super Training.

I don't recommend the Become a Freak to anyone. To all newbie like me who wants a shortcut and a 50 inch vert (like adam's, who I think is a genetic dunker), don't buy VF 2.0 and live the reality that there is NO shortcut only sickening perseverance and will. Look at adarqui, his passion is to have a 47 inch vert and after a year of hard training his almost there. Don't look up on Adam, you'll be fooled, instead look up on Adarqui and other members of this forum as your idol and inspiration. Follow Adarqui's words and training principles and your soul will be saved.

Okay!  ;D Got it. :)  And that answered my question. Thanks Sir Lance.  :headbang: I'll add Oly variants on my work-out now.

What will happen if someone adds cleans/snatches before a hypertrophy session. and Why? For example Having 7 sets of 3 reps of Cleans then 4sets of 10 of Squats? Will there be any progress?

any progress on what? what are you trying to get out of the cleans/snatches? what are you trying to get out of the hypertrophy? how intense will the clean/snatches be? how about the squats?

come on, now.

Hmm, as in General progress. Will I gain power and hypertrophy doing both cleans (assuming max effort with 80% max cleans) and max effort hypertrophy (4x10 of let's say15 rep max)? Or that session will only lead to over training?

My work-out was, 3x7 of cleans; 4x10 Squats; 2x10 walking lunges; 2x10 Leg Curls Plus Pull Ups and Dips. The Squats and Walking Lunges are max effort (lead to maximum fatigue) while my cleans are max effort but not max weight (a little light).

doing cleans or snatches before squatting is a great way to fire up the cns and make the squat workout even better. If youre primary focus is hypertrophy then do something like 3x5 w/ the oly variant, if your primary focus is power and speed, do something like 6 x 3 w/ oly variant.

Those two sets scheme can go with 4x10 hypertrophy squatting and depending on the rep scheme (3x5 or 6x3 ), I will get my hypertrophy or power focus? Or the hypertrophy 4x10 scheme will change volume depending on the focus (power or volume)?

Why did vertfreak gave me so little results? I did almost everything. :( Well, I'm done with week 11 so I should see results by now but I have seen none so far... Someone said that you could give me the answer behind this phenomena.

what was your bodyweight before/after VF, and your before/after results on your lifts?

if you could show that, it might tell alot.. if you made considerable gains in relative strength and made little to no gains with your power/jumps, then fatigue would definitely be an issue.

Well, before I do the program. My BW was 70kls. Squatting only a mere 100kls (max). I ate much to gain strength. After the program I weigh 74-75kls, squatting around 117.5 kls-120kls (estimated max).

Crazy Weird Analysis & Stuff :) / Re: is marihuana good for VJ?
« on: March 05, 2011, 10:07:55 pm »
That's because the guys who smoke it are "thugs" and guys with "criminal" nervous systems... you know, people that don't really pay much attention to study and are just "nervous" and "rebel". You're probably going to say I'm not making much sense but if you think more, you'll see that I am.

They smoke it because their personality and mindset in life is about being "aggressive" and "defiant". So it's their nature that gives them hops, not the marijuana.

I think running from the cops is level 7 training, so that explains their athleticism.

Problem solved.
Hahahaha. Raptor I really think your jokes are funny. hahahaha ;D

ADARQ & LanceSTS - Q&A / Re: Sir Lance... I have a question.
« on: February 25, 2011, 09:22:56 pm »
Yeah, come to think of it and reviewing my log and journal the VF really drained my energy and didn't allow me to recover. I almost trained everyday. Man, I wasted my time   :( but no point crying over a spilled milk. Sir lance could you check my Work-out template on my post in my journal. Could you tell me if it will allow me to recover and if the exercises are in the right combination? Thanks again, Sir lance.
