Try to keep your lifting sessions under an hour. If you're going to lift directly after playing ball, make sure you've got plenty of food and protein. You go catabolic during that session, you die. :)

I posted a thread on this recently and got hated on. lol. You probably won't though.

I forgot to mention, in addition to my previous PR, my block jump or SVJ went up 1cm also. So,  :personal-record: on that. That's at 321cm now. I need to figure out my reach, I don't know if it's 255cm or 251cm. I also got an RDL record a while back, although it was supposed to be 3 reps. :/ Romanian Deadlift 125kg 2x2 PR - Set Thursday, 28/06/12

So my spike reach went from 336cm to 344cm. First actual PR in 8 months. 8cm straight up. I now have an 89cm RVJ (35") and much work ahead. Next goal is 350cm spike reach or 37-38" RVJ.

Point of thread: Having not PR'd in 8 months is tough but if you keep at it, it will happen.

Jumps 2:

8 SVJs - ranged from 31''- 33''

8 DSVJs - highest around 34'' (these felt really good today)

5 DLRVJs - highest prob 36''

5 SLRVJs - same as DL

I'm learning a lot about how I jump best through these back-to-back jumping sessions. I find that I jump better when I don't think about the jump much at all and just walk up, pause, then go for it. The longer I spend readying the jump or thinking about technique, the less likely it is I'll do it well. Today my SVJs started out low because I was taking too long before the jump. When I reduced the 'pre-jump' time and just did it without hesitating at all, it was way higher. Same thing for the other types of jumps. Gotta focus on being more relaxed and reflexive.

Great post. I just did a jumping session too and noticed that if I seemingly didn't put a lot of thought into activating every muscle fibre, I'd get 1-2 inches higher as well. I think I slowed my amortisation phase a little and it felt as though I wasn't even going to jump and then I was 2h dunking with all kinds of bent elbows. Quite surreal.

This last page has taught me a fair bit about jumping and the importance of shit like timing your arm swing with your SVJ. I'm always looking to whore that extra centimeter, so thanks for that.

Read an article from Kelly and I now have a firm grasp on Limit/Explosive/Reactive strength. Realized I wasn't really doing any explosive stuff, mostly limit and reactive.

Will incorporating paused rep squats help?

Very loose arms on the back swing.

35 at least, wouldn't be surprised if it 40. that rnning vert is easily 40. His max 3x BW squat is more of a bounce ATG though. Bounce-ATG squats are harder in the half squat position where as slower paused ATG or even regular below parallel squats are harder below parallel. That bounce takes a lot of tension off. I doubt he would be able to do 3x BW going halfway between parallel and ATG. But still, you need strong ass quads in a squat like that.

Bounce or not, it's still a RAW ATG squat. I wonder if his tricking actually contributed much to his vert.

Yeah, originally he wanted to improve his vert for tricking. If that's what it was over a year ago, I can only imagine what it'd be like now.

What do you think his vert is?
