Thanks for the quick reply Lance. Haha nice vid KingFish. Got some serious strength!! It's time for me to get back to the squat rack after a 8 month layoff from the back squat, I still jump roughly the same though.

ADARQ & LanceSTS - Q&A / Half squat with transition emphasis
« on: August 07, 2012, 12:09:15 am »
Lance, I watched your YouTube video "half squat with transition emphasis". Is this video teaching how the half squat should generally be done? I mean would doing a half squat with a transition emphasis be a good squat to start doing for a basic general strength exercise? Thanks for your time man. You got some nice informative videos on your YouTube channel.

Article & Video Discussion / Re: Kettlebell Swing Science
« on: August 06, 2012, 11:09:33 pm »
For those who don't have access to kettlebells, Ross Enamait on Ross training has a good video tutorial of how to make a homemade kettlebell he uses for swings. Hes on video swinging I think up to 175 lbs....  Great article Joel, I just reread it. Part 2 coming soon?

ADARQ & LanceSTS - Q&A / EMS stimulation for hypertrophy or recovery
« on: August 04, 2012, 11:21:21 am »
Lance, do you have any experience with ems stimulation? If so, what would would be a good set up for hypertrophy something or supplemental to help with recovery?

I saw the video, i wish he would have came out with it because I feel he was on to something with the 20 rep squatting. It was like adarqui was just on the top of his game in jumping and just lost the passion for it. I honestly feel like he would be up to a 43 to 45 inch running right now if he kept going. I'm gonna try some of my own experimentation with high rep squatting and some EMS stimulation for the next month or so and see what happens.

THANK YOU FOR INFORMING US OF YOUR FEELINGS WITH RESPECT TO ANDREW'S METHODS AND POTENTIAL MISSED PROGRESS!

Why are you yelling at me? .... And your welcome ;)

Introduce Yourself / I'm just tryna jump high
« on: August 02, 2012, 04:02:44 pm »
I've been searching on this site for a few months now, but now I just signed up as I figured I should contribute and maybe my posts will help someone's goals whether directly or indirectly. I'm also looking to learn and discuss with others about training and pretty much anything thats gonna help any one jump higher or perform better. I'm basketball player turned into a training addict. I still have a goal to jump 45 inches running. I think my last PR was me touching the top of the square after a basketball game. I think i'll start a semi-journal or something. Hopefully this forum can come alive again.

Did Adarqui ever put out the BoingTerd program?

I'm 6"3 with a 6'5 wingspan, so looks like you have long arms for your height. You will always have leverage disadvantages with long limbs, I'm also poor at the full squat and I could only get my push press up to 175 with sketchy form when I was working on it. For upper body I pretty much switch to calisthenics and gymnastic exercises which cured my left shoulder impingement, and I decided that a full squat wasn't in the cards for me and I need to working on a lunge or half squat. At 200 lbs my best full squat was 315 twice but real slow form wasn't perfect. Maybe you need to just pick exercises that will benefit your limb length like a half squat.

It's a paper back book, 200 pages, Yeah I know shipping might kill you.

I just got VJB 2.0 today, it's a 200 page manual. Even though I'm confident in my training I bought it for the information. It's a good read but some of it is from the recent articles from Kelly's website. I have lots of respect for Kelly and I think this book is worth the price.

Is any one still incorporating adarqui's concept of length tension motor pools in their workouts? Stretching and high rep squats? I really like the concept, any thoughts for people that tried it?

Article & Video Discussion / Re: Kettlebell Swing Science

I've used these before in Christian thibadaues 6 weeks to superhero program. I used around a 75 lb kettlebell plus banded (got that idea from Joe Defranco) I have to say the banded kb swing was my favorite exercise through out the whole program. I also noticed my running jumps were higher and it made my jumping smoother or look more effortlessly so to speak. I agree that the kb swing teaches heavy eccentric loading and having to turning and turn off tension. I would want to start incorporating these again, but what would a good set and rep scheme be like for banded swings?
