how vital is ones core strength and stability in maximizing his or her vertical jump potential?  If ones core is weak, would working the core increase vert?  I am currently doing planks to improve this.  I cannot pass this core strength/stability test on this link http://sportsmedicine.about.com/od/bestabexercises/a/core_test.htm

Would building your core up to the point of passing this test be beneficial for jumping higher?

So I made a schedule of doing squats, dead lifts, and leg presses on a M/W/F schedule.  Is this too much or is it just fine?  I completely rest on days in between.  If I work out on Monday and am still sore on Wednesday, do I still workout or is it more beneficial to rest and continue Friday?

Also, what level of strength should I aim for to maximize my vertical jump from a Absolute Strength Perspective?
1.5x BW on squats and deadlifts? 2x BW?

Lastly, on the squat, is it essential to do ATG or is parallel fine?

Hey everybody, first off a little about me.
I'm 21/M 5'9" wit shoes 148 lbs, around 9% body fat.
Squat 160 (5 reps), Deadlift 185 (5 reps), Bench Press 185 (1repmax)
7'0" reach (short arms) and a 33" max 2 feet vert, 36" max 1 foot vert (basically just touching rim).
I have been totally in love with and obsessed with basketball since I was in middle school.  I'm a scoring guard, who is usually the player with the quickest 1st step on the court 9 times out of 10.  Since moving to campus at my university, and having free access to a weight room and basketball courts all the time, I have decided to revitalize my goal of dunking.  I have literally been obsessed with being able to dunk for the past few months and have done extensive research online and such.  As I join this forum I hope I will gain the knowledge on how to do just that from the members and Adarqui himself.
