Absurd might be a little too much for a choice of word ;)

Facebook actually makes it easier and above all, the chat is just handy since its built-in.

General Training: Nike track waffle (the ones recommended by darqui) 29.99$ on Eastbay. Makes you much more glute-dominant and lets your ankle move freely. I had 2 pairs of nike frees and i personally would take these over the frees ANYDAY.

Basketball or anykind of Sports Practice involving OTHER people/obstacles: Nike Hyperfuse. 89,99$ Light and good protection. However, it would be best not to use the same pair for outside on concrete and inside in a gym as the grip wears down pretty easily.

Peace.

You really should become a Facebook Page with your FACE that we could all like as a public figure haha!!!

But seriously a private members-facebook group could be nice, it's easy to put up vids and chat online.

Divad's advice is good but I personally would substitute pin squat for box squat, but that's preference (and a little bit more but not set in stone).

True dat. The man has got it!  :D   Really pin squats would definately be better as depth will AlWAYS be identical. I might try these myself.

Just wondering, are you able to clear your elbow above the rim no lob or anything just plain running jump? Cuz that would look awesome. I bet you can anyways, just wanted to know.

The most important thing, is yeah, go deep, but mainly STOP once you lose your arch. It's never helpful once your back starts to round. The Box Squat might be good to develop some more explosive power and allow you to really SIT back and stay above your critical point and progress safely. Try it out, but keep squatting regularly too, test for a while to see which one you like best, then switch to that one for a couple of weeks. In any case, resistance stays resistance.

- jumps : 2 step & vert
tied @32" after one of the gym owners told me I should be getting more knee flexion on the plant. Jumped high, tweaked hip.

Great! I feel it's really a matter of body structure and individual preference, some people would fuck up their jumps by flexing more, if it worked better for you, then you know where your at!

congrats on the jumping & good thing the squat was flying up.. really sucks about that damn hip shit though.. that's why i ended up squatting above parallel, chronic hip issue.. i was actually squatting below parallel 2+ years ago believe it or not.. hip issue made me go above, then i got even more vert gains when i switched to half squat.

@Darqui, everybody: I'm unsure about that, but i bet that if you get sore in the hamstrings and glutes, it's probably a sign that going deeper is not ne cessary and that a half squat is enough? Right?

Saw the trailer two days ago, that's sick (bad) as fuck. The producer said somewhere the idea originated in the German scientists/doctors experiments during WW2, the likes of Josef Mengele. The definition of a monster.

Music is soul-searching, painting is awesome, both combined are pure greatness. That guy's a true artist.

Here is After Midnight #5, but frankly, they're all great. This one is One Step Ahead by A. Franklin.

His paintings are like in another timeframe...it feels like there's so much behind it all.

You'd like Otto Dix too, i think, there was an expo about him recently at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts (my hometown)

Strength, Power, Reactivity, & Speed Discussion / Re: Squat vs Deadlift.
« on: February 19, 2011, 04:04:20 pm »
Hi Kelly,

I followed one of your programs for explosiveness last summer and into last fall, and when i did squat and deadlifts at a very high frequency, i progressed much much faster on deadlifts. At that time you told me it had something to do with my build. I do have long legs (especially thighs bones) and it makes squat extremely hard to progress without having to lean forward too much. In comparison, with the deadlift, i'm easily able to hit the hamstrings hard and i never had problems of using back at all, even to this day, the deadlift still makes my posterior chain sore for days on.

Recently, i trained with a friend who has a different build and he had trouble not using his back to deadlift. It was an easy thing to acertain as he was not sore WHATSOEVER in his legs in the following days.

So would you think that some people, especially those with long thigh bones/torso, might progress MORE mainly from deadlift as their main exercise over squat? Especially unilateral jumpers? I feel like the deadlifting motion (Hip extension) closely mimicks the angle during a SLRVJ and for me personally, has led to good improvements in that particular jumping technique.
