Pics, Videos, & Links / STOP UR BLOOD FLOW to ur.....lol
« on: April 06, 2016, 12:43:30 am »
what do u guys thinks..
Quote
The key points you need to know about this exercise are:

It involves restricting blood flow of a working muscle to elicit gains in size and strength.
It sounds crazy, but it works. It is also quite safe.
Blood Flow Restriction Training (BFR) is a clever way to gain strength and power using much lighter weights than regular strength training (20-40% of 1RM).

I am re doing T0ooday method, which is my 2nd time doing it.
Which go like this,  (with out Stand still jump), I start with hop into a (2 legs) jump, 1 step into a (2 legs) Jump, 2 steps into a (2 legs) Jump.

Some time, I am getting higher in the 1 steps, and on a good days i might get even higher i the 2 steps.
but often, all the jump result is very similar.
In today jump training, I did 7 no steps jump and one of these jump is very Fast, powerful and explosive which feel like a 1 steps or may be even a 2 steps.
However, the rest of the  1 step/ 2 steps jump did not get any higher... and i am stuck with similar height thru out.

Question:
now that single no step Powerful jump is stuck in my head.
and I did not do any Stand Still jump; but i am doing no step, 1 step, 2 steps jump all with in 40 min.

I know this is the 2nd time I am doing T0oodays method.  But Should I be doing all these different jump on the same day?
in theory, each steps added should make me higher which is not happening now. T0oodays Method...suggested not to add any steps untill each jump is mastered meaning i am not able to get any higher in a consistent manner

Now that i got 1 good jump in my no step version.
May be i should just keep myself doing 20 x no steps jump for a few days or weeks, until i can MASTER it, until I add one more step?

or should I continue what i am doing...

I would like to seek info on the different muscle utilization/activation of Single Leg Paused Frog Jump compare with other jump exercise like jump squat and etc.

Sample of the movement:
http://www.verticaljumping.com/single_leg_paused_frog_jumps.html

The reason I asked this is because, I discovered when preforming this with my Right Leg, I got higher than my Left.  (Right Leg stronger than Left?)

However, When I Squat, I lean on my left as my Left Leg is stronger.  Further more, I am a Left Right Plant jumper.... so I am pretty certain my Left Leg take most of the loading.   (I am pretty sure my Left leg is stronger here, the quad is bigger on my left also visually)

I am guessing Frog Jump uses different muscle group compare with squat jump or normal 2 leg jump...causing my contradicting which leg is stronger discovery.   If My LEFT Leg Sucks in the Frog jump, May be I had discovered an area of weakness which I should  be focusing on?
Possibly help me get pass my bottleneck in vert training?

Over Train? um....

Quote
Jordan Kilganon:  My advice to anyone who wants to become a dunker, is to start off dunking 1-2 hours 3 times a week and to slowly progress to 3-4 hours a day almost every day. If you’re legs aren’t sore as hell the day after, it means you need to dunk more/longer next time…The way my training worked was that I would dunk 3-4 hours every day for a week to even a month, and anytime I wanted to see results, I would rest 2-3 days.  Every time I rested, it was my next best jumping day, I saw results, rarely I didn’t see a difference.

(one of my local dunking buddies just jumped like 130 times in 2 days... When i ask him why.. he send me that link)

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OGaYQ_Qj6v0" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OGaYQ_Qj6v0</a>

jumping with 1 steps for 2 month. Which is about 6 jump sessions completed . Getting consistent in 1 step approach.

Decided to add one more step and seems like is all messed up.
The exaggerated arm swing in the added step seems to messed up the jump.

Things felt different... I feel I am able to go in faster but when it all come together. I am just not going up higher.

I try to jump freely and the end and... That same (not going up ) feeling appear.

Any suggestion are much appreciated.

I asked if i should increace my squat from 2.11 bw to 2.5 or even 3... For jumping higher.

And the reply i got is as follow.  What do u guys think?
By Shawn Myszka.
Hey man Shawn emailed this to me for you.

"Though it would definitely depend on personal movement characteristics and attributes, in most cases and in my experiences, anything over 2x BW in the squat is plenty and the increase in additional strength (in the exercise) likely would not be advantageous and/or lead to any increase in jumping performance. Instead (again without having specific data or awareness of your particular situation), I would say you would be best served to focus on ways to apply the strength that you already have in the most functionally-specific fashion to the movement patterns found within jumping. Namely, think of rate of force absorption (developing force more quickly on the eccentric/countermovement/plant phases of movement) or rate of force development (how quickly you can exert the force on the upward/takeoff type actions). These areas are usually where jumpers go wrong. Hope that helps.”
