Got this email from Jackwood!

pretty good tools, Free untill Oct 8
His email is as follow:

Hi There

I just wanted to write to let you know about a cool FREE plyometric training app I have been using on my Iphone to measure ground contact time and jump height.

It is called Plyo Coach. Just go to the Apple App store and search for Plyo Coach and you will find it.

It is free until the 8th of October.

This isn't my app, it is just one I was recently put onto that I thought was worth sharing. So after the 8th I am not sure what it will cost, but for now it doesn't cost anything.

Enjoy

Strength, Power, Reactivity, & Speed Discussion / GHR soreness
« on: September 29, 2012, 11:31:35 am »
So I thought my leg is ok strong after squatting all this yrs.
I admit i had not deadlift for a while. Buy I expect squatting should kept my Glute and ham in decent shape...
Man was I wrong.
I did 3 set of gHR like this:
http://vimeo.com/50419149

2 days later, both of my tendon on the back knee and outside of my leg,
(Where my hamstring is attching to the the lower leg in the back of knee area )

Is so so sore, I mean these day, my quad glute is never sore and my calves is also use to the exercise so it is not sore any more.

But GHR, seems to activated this small muscle or tendon that I had missed ....

Any one had similar experience? I expect GHR to work on my Glute... Not that specific tendon...
Unless I did GHR wrongly...

Pics, Videos, & Links / DIY idea for Lifeline USA portable Power jumper
« on: September 20, 2012, 10:39:43 pm »
I was spending quite a bit of time in Jackwood website these day...
He had mentioned a few times how the Portable Power Jumper can improve vertical for him , and even for the program51 author...

the original one is here:

There is also a less expensive version for people with back injury...

Being not in the state.. i try to look for alternative for fun..
I did found some copy cat version of the less expensive waist attached version (notice the ankle connection)..

but since JackW suggested the complete system (rope on the back), I wonder if it is possible to DIY... by using those Foot work ankle warp  and additional power rubber band...

$5 USD

+
$10 USD

The main problem is, the ankle wrap might be easily slip up on the leg (what do u guys think?)... unless it is warped from bottom up around the sole..

Another problem is, I have to source  a rubber cable with the right length..

but the final or the first question is.... Is this equipment as worthy as jackw suggested... or another waste of $ & time product...

Recently Jacob Tucker joined Impossible Training team for coaching...

A few new things in this video...
but is it necessary to be strong like this?

if t-dub is pure genetic... is this guy genetic + hard work? or 80% hard work 20% genetic....

Pics, Videos, & Links / How is this 2 steps approach?

Does it consider good approach that 2 leg jumper should practice?  I notice the jump is rather close to the rim...

As I recall, Kelly suggested to jump further away from the rim to have more margin of error....and no needing to go Up and Over to put down a ball...

But i assume, jumping further need more power than jumping straight up?

I am doing plyometric at lunch hour during weekdays...
The weather is getting Hot, and the Sunshine is strong...

I manage to Hide in the shade in between sets...
but I feel like i am just trying to finish my set and get back in the shade in some of the training.

And i know Max effort is needed in plyometric...  so i feel kind of bad after today extremely hot work out.

Just wondering if any bro here train under the sun.... and how u guys do it...

I mean, hot sunny day should affect performance right?  But again, track day is always sunny and hot like hot hot....

I am jumping and de-loading my Cal this weeks ;)

Finished Jumpsole and nearly made 2x body weight para squat.
I am practicing jump every second day now.  I try to shoot like 10 jump shots, then attempt to jump 2-3 time in that cycle for 40 min daily.

Video cap from last session:
http://vimeo.com/39051703

I know the theory to jump high are:
- During recoil, go down fast (but not too much) and rebound up
- The last 2 steps must be fast (2 foot approach)
- Master the ability to carry horizontal force, stop it at a penny and redirect it upward.

After jumping for 3 sessions, I notice the following:
- it is hard to maintain control  with high approach speed
- If I try to slow down, mid way, my approach is not smooth and it just useless, (try to be smooth instead of too fast)
- My best jump come from planting my first jump foot (left), and letting my 2nd jump foot land by gravity force and then explode up.  Most of the jumping power is coming from the left foot.

Area for improvement / Target:
Reviewed a few adarq dunk video, who is also LR planted.  I had set this as my short terms goal.
- Instead of letting the body/2nd leg drop by gravity in the last step, try to pull myself down with force and rebound.
- Limit the range of motion in the downward phase might be a good idea.
- Increase the arm swing power!
- others feedback i hope to get from adarq.org....

 :ibjumping: Continue....

Hi there, before I start, please ignore the negative about Jumpsole, I happen to got a pair cheap and used it as part of my vertical training journey.

I was not in shape, being out of the gym for near 3 month, taking care of my new born.  BW at new height at 198lbs, and Bodyfat near 20%.  I had completely lost my touch but decided to come back.  So I  dig out the jumpsole and started training with it.

For the pass 8 Weeks, I had been doing the follow each week.

2 X plyometric Jumpsole (60min 48 hours apart & never after a Squat day).
2 X upperbody circuit training (30-40min)
1 x Heavy squat session (40min)
1 x semi endurance basketball training (120min).

In terms of raw relative strength, I am back at 1.81BW squat.  And after 8 week of plyometric, doing skipping, bounding, rim jump, depth jump, stepup jump, lounge jump etc.  I feel like I am transforming a little.

However, Body fat ratio is still no good, I can see fatty tummy hanging belly.  Anyway. I will continue to train. But I had read that at the end of each routine, one should DELOAD.. or have a Active Rest week... and test vertical after a week.

Could some one tell me more about deloading?  Further more, I am going to continue to train and hope to reach my goal to dunk in NOV.

Should I start doing Jumpsole again with a weight vest on, and continue to Squat once a week? or should i change things up, may be try to do VJB for a few month and see how things go?  what do u guys think?

Dunk on Baby Birthday! Will not Give up!  :ibjumping:

Quoted:
Recently, power lifting coaches have been adding explosive lifts to their programs and the results are tremendous. I have personally seen a five-foot-nine high school powerlifter in the 275 pound weight class, with a competition squat of over seven hundred pounds, dunk a basketball, WITH NO RUNNING START.
