400m Sprinting or Shorter / Re: Sprinter Training

Hopefully everything you see & hear about the world's 2 fastest men you will take with a BIG pinch of salt.

Finding his max squat is something I have tried and failed before.

Bolt has probably never got under a squat rack in his life.

The spine hates sustained compression but loves storing & releasing rotary torque. Not enough attention paid to the spinal engine from what I gather.

Benching 185 doesn't make you a sub 10 runner.

Will be interesting to see what times the top Brit's produce in the future.

You'll find your body wants to rotate laterally with each arm movement unless you brace yourself mid-region.

Did you see Bolt's lateral movement in Beijing & in Berlin that he got criticized for?.

Seems like he was taking advantage of the lateral spring system.

Can brute force compete with spring/elasticity (stride rate remains constant)?.

Nah.

Much stronger guys than Bolt even in first round races get demolished.

Carl Lewis didn't lift until the back end of his career, when he ran his slowest times -- Linford 700lb+ squat.

It was Carl who came out on top. Hence things need to put in perspective.

yea I was just pointing out that I have seen tyson lift before..I know tyson works hard, and I would say he works harder than bolt..Tyson lifts, 3x8 routine i think...Bolt probably does some olympic lifts and such

here is Jared Connaughton..he runs a 10.0x and he is a top sprinter for Canada

He has shown his clips of lifting..go to his channel, shows some workouts he had done

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u31A6SVScz0

he is 5'8 and 180lbs..those are the two lifting vids on his channel, his channel give s great view to a sprinters life

that meet does not even look legit for a pro..Almost a high school size meet

9.79 is fast, he could probably beat bolt in a race with that time right now.

I was looking for a Usain Bolt Lifting video forever!!! thanks man

it seemed like he got that pretty easy on the Hang clean. Finding his max squat is something I have tried and failed before.

Tyson Gay does a ton of upper body lifting for some reason, I find him benching 185 on a few vids.

what were the scores..out of 16 people, what was your place?

rollaway rims always seem to be higher, I have on that rolls away and I measured it to be higher

That quote has been mis-quoted all the time. I always hear the 15% version of it...

I think the truth is that you only use 15% at a time.

seems more reasonalbe..maybe it is that most of the time we only use 15% of our brains...then it would work imo

I thought it was good not great like the first one but most def better than the last 2.

That made up my mind..I'll see it this week or maybe even today :highfive: as long as it was better than last 2

it actually sorta seems like it is starting a series, and it broke away from the last 2 stale ones and made a new one with same ideas

Ok, I want to go see this movie, but I don't want to get tricked into seeing it just because the first one was good. I saw the last two, and the trend is to keep getting worse. I am going to wait till somebody tells me that it is really good before I see it.

oh, and here is the soundtrack by lonely Island lol..I found it funny

I loved this movie! The story was kinda stupid at times, like why he did'nt just make the pills at the beginning(Since he is so smart on them). Then the whole movie is avoided.

oh yea, Whatever happened to the drug addict girl. his ex..Did she just end up on the street? lol

also, the idea that we only use 20% of our brains seems false to me. Anybody know the full detail?

yahoo answers was first thing i clicked on

....There are no such studies. Brain capacity and usage varies greatly from person to person, and besides, there's no way to quantify it. What you hear are people repeating "folk wisdom" suggesting the power of the human brain.

The spirit of what they say is accurate, though. The truth of the matter is that if you have a normal 100% of it gets used every day. The thing is, it could be used a whole lot better, and it could be used a whole lot more. 80% more? I would say a whole lot more than that. There is no known limit to how much information and processing the brain can do.

Keep in mind, in the average brain there are more neuronal connections than there are stars in the entire universe. Go for it!

seems like misinformation. I bet there are more things to back this guys stuff up.

Injury, Prehab, & Rehab talk for the brittlebros / Re: Elbow
« on: May 22, 2011, 01:15:00 am »
anybody ever heard of not regaining the ROM back? I'm just curious because one of the doctors hinted on something like that.. I set up my appointment for Tuesday this week and will see the specialist.

Hoping all goes well..I can throw a football now and I'm going to begin training once I get off finals week this Friday!!

Injury, Prehab, & Rehab talk for the brittlebros / Elbow
« on: May 21, 2011, 01:23:14 am »
I hit the ground and caught myself with my right arm. It was bent and the elbow hurt. After going to Emergency Room, they told me it was effused and should be ok after 2 weeks. I have little ROM but I am believing that it's increasing slowly. That was about 2weeks and 1/2 ago.

Trainer told me to go to a specialist. Said that it probably was dislocated and came back in quickly. I'll have to rehab it back once I can get ROM back.

Anybody know anything about this type of injury? What should be my rehab approach?

thanks
