I just sprained my ankle last week and need to recover quick to continue with my workout to make my deadline goal for 17th june.

I was playing basketball and as i was exploding towards the ball, i push off the top of my right foot which was upside down which caused my feet to slip to the side.

so my feet turned under and putting pressure on it while under slipped to the outside to the right. very painfull.

i have missed week 1 and already missed day 1 of week 2 any suggestions to speed up recovery?

thanks

Andre Berto Tests Positive for Steroids Putting Victor Ortiz Bout in Question
:o :o :o

What is going on, how many boxers are going to be taking steroids, first peterson with the intent of defeating a champion khan and now berto to take revenge for his defeat from ortiz but with the help of drugs, as he knows he can't beat ortiz.

 :pissed:

IBF welterweight title holder Andre Berto has tested positive for steroids, making him the second fighter within a month to test positive for a performance-enhancing drug, according to ESPN boxing writer Dan Rafael,

Rafael Tweeted:

The unfortunate news puts the June 23 rematch between Berto and Victor Ortiz in serious limbo. The match was already postponed from it's original date of Feb. 11 due to Berto injuring his bicep

A new trend is emerging among elite boxers. Just a few weeks ago, the much-anticipated rematch between Lamont Peterson and Amir Khan was postponed due to Peterson failing a random drug test.

If the Berto-Ortiz rematch is indeed cancelled, this would be two major cards that were cancelled in succession, making the June 9 Manny Pacquiao-Timothy Bradley bout even bigger than it was before. Boxing will need as much good press as possible going forward to get the public to move on from these two unfortunate incidents.

In this day of heightened testing procedures, any athlete that takes a risk using a PED and gets caught deserves a stiff penalty. With more and more cases popping up as of late, guidelines to just what those penalties will be needs to be created in order to punish the offenders accordingly and consistently.

I am really stuck on how i can perfect my sprinting my mechanics/ form.

When at the start i aim for 3 to 4 large strides before reducing.

then at top speed come upright.

then maintain speed.

but at maintain speed i am not able to step over my knees. i can do it at slow pace but when running at full intensity sprint i can't raise my knees high enough as i am running too fast to interrupt.

any help would be appreciated.

thanks

This is the phase i am stuck on. The part i get wrong. The high knee and all the stuffs.

Here is a video i found of bolt in slow motion and another video i found, which explained about the high knee and arm action.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4QrlPmK4B94

and

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uHOfeK5gSE8

The knee drive is the part i get wrong. Usain tucks his leg so close to his buttocks.

i can see the arm action described in the second video.

but i can't make it automatic i have to make it happen.

any one can help in the high knee and tuck the leg in.

i did high knee drills from expert village.

thanks

Boxing / Mayweather vs Cotto (spoiler alert)
« on: May 06, 2012, 03:11:27 pm »
It turned out to be a good match in the end including the undercard of mosley vs alvarez.

There were some points where cotto was really tearing mayweater apart. Then mayweater would always be able to get that sweeping right hand, which cotto did not avoid.

Funny parts when the commentator said that the people were ammused when they saw mayweather bleeding.
also when cotto might have done something wrong, touched gloves and quickley guarded, which right as after were a barrage of combo from mayweather.

A Terrific fight in the end even though cotto was not able to pull it off. Strange how cotto just went off stage after the match.

Boxing / Rios vs Abril, what happened??
« on: April 17, 2012, 05:34:17 pm »
Rios vs Abril, Not knowing either one of them. Only hearing that brandon rios and marquez were fighting in the same ppv and that if they both win their match they would fight each other.

So from this i had some good thoughts on rios must be that good to get a chance to face marquez.

so i decided to watch rios vs abril.

i was rooting for rios obviously to beat up abril, but all i could see was abril giving him some body shots and face shots while rios just absorbed them or tried for some shots, which either fell short or had not much of an impact.

so i knew abril had won, that maybe abril would face marquez. My view on rios a sluggish, slow, fighter nothing good.

but once i heard the first score card, fair to abril, but the other two to rios :o >:(.

That just took the biscuit. something smelt fish more acurately i feel arum had a hand in this as he was expecting good from rios, so his fighter can take on marquez.

but a terrible decision and if he gets in the ring, he will be ko'd by marquez, i hope.

Boxing / good performance by marquez
« on: April 17, 2012, 05:10:14 pm »
His fight against sergei fedchenko turned out good especially for the mexican fans because he hasn't been fighting in Mexico since 1996 i think.

He has everything in terms of a good boxer that makes him undefeatable except for somethings which he does not have.

for instance he finds it difficult to deliver a ko performance or a tko, he has the combo but if he had upped his speed and accuracy he would be on his way.

but at the age of 38 he fights very well.

Here is an article i found on the internet, which is quite interesting.

Quote
As promised, as soon as the results and split times from Bolt's unbelievable 9.58s performance were available, we'd be analysing them

Turns out they became available rather quickly (not 9.58s kind of quick, but quick nevertheless). So here is the analysis of Bolt's race.

All the splits

First of all, here is the table published by the IAAF this morning, containing all the splits and times for 20m intervals, for both the semi-final and final:

The Rest of the article can be found here: http://www.sportsscientists.com/2009/08/analysis-of-bolts-958-wr.html

I know a lot of people say that Usain bolt when he reaches top speed he decelerates slower than the rest but the problem with that lies in the split he attained.

if we look at the split times for usain bolt.

20m = 2.89s so he is still accelerating acceleration = 6.92m/s^2
40m = 4.64s still he has not reached top speed because if he had then his max acceleration would be less than 10m/s^2 = 8.6m/s^2
60m = 6.31s still 9.51m/s^2
80m = 7.92s now he has reached max velocity with an acceleration of =10.10m/s^2
100m = 9.58s = 10.43 m/s^2

You can see how is possible for him to maintain his speed when it can clearly be seen that he is able to accelerate pass 60m when he is upright when he reaches 80m this is evident in the video of the race.

Overall looking at the split times he was able to accelerate in upright position as he was able to achieve 80m in less than 8 s but 60m over 6s.

Strength, Power, Reactivity, & Speed Discussion / Sprinting Queries
« on: March 28, 2012, 06:41:34 am »
Hi

I am training for the 100m and know the basic procedures i think. From the Starting Line you hold your breath and you explode outwards swinging arm vigorously and reaching as far as possible not intentionally of course but naturally. but not too ahead but at the centre of mass. keeping body at an angle with high knee for about 30m before rising head up breathing for every single arm swing. Then be straight upright and run as fast as possible some can even accelerate at this point i.e. usain bolt.

but when it comes to 200m how does this differ would you be in an upright position from 40m to 100m?

also it says to keep body at an angle at the start but looking at the professional sprinters it looks as if their upper body is at an angle the lower body is upright. looks strange.

thats it.... for now :P until i can think of more

Boxing / Errric El Terrrible Morrrallees
« on: March 25, 2012, 09:47:18 pm »
What a fight

I was rooting for morales even though he had the disadvantage. Even though he is past his prime he has some good shots but no way better then his prime, man he was fast back then :o.

I was love watching morales fight and this fight against danny garcia was a good fight, he was able to give him a bloodied face with bruises.

hats off to him. He will always be remembered as the one that beat pacquiao even though pacquiao was able to get avengance.

the undercard was not that bad, strange how they stopped the fight.

oh well i was hoping for kirkland to win coz that other guy just grabs him and you can't push.

a good ppv overall with the morales fight being the highlight of that night.

« on: March 06, 2012, 07:51:43 pm »
Since mayweather nearly due for his imprisonment in june, is he stupid enough to make it worse on himself so much that he could end up in the state prison. im guessing this is the one where there are alot of criminals all in one place, drugs, so and so.

Boxing / Pacquiao vs Marquez 4 a possiblity?
« on: February 29, 2012, 07:28:31 pm »
Hi

Good News, manny pacquiao said that he is willing to fight marquez but not too soon. This is the match i want to see as well as mayweather vs pacquiao, mayweather vs martinez, pacquiao vs morales and so on.

here is the article.

Quote

I am really excited to see this get under way, but what freddie roach said ... blah blah .. anything to discourage the talks of the match happening. the third fight was not boring at all it made more than mayweather did so i don't think it gets boring every time they fight. it was all event of the century.

i hope they do fight. :headbang:

Boxing / Vitali vs Chisora
« on: February 21, 2012, 06:38:29 am »
:wowthatwasnutswtf:.

WTF, that fight was entertaining, i was voting for vitali and was hoping he would kick chisora's ass all over the place, that guy was just too much moving about. This got interesting from the weigh in when chisora slapped vitali.

Then during the intro chisora spat water in the face of wladmir klitschko, :o. :pissed:

Im surprised, he didn't get thrashed by wladmir.

Chisora is just all ego with trash talk and all the cowardly acts he did. Someone should knock him out in the most painful way imaginable.

then when it was the post fight conference, he tried to come to david haye to his face talking big, then haye some saay bottled him the adam guy, says he didn't decked him badly, and also coming up to the face of his right hand man, he is just as bad.
so many things i want to say to that guy but it is still not enough :pissed:.

the only way i will be satisified is someone is damage him that he can't box again and then knock him down.
