Boxing / Re: pacuiqao vs bradley soon

What the f**k :o  :pissed: :pissed: .

First off manny pacquiao has definitely proven himself since his last fight from marquez. Bradley was just plainly put rubbish no solid punches made at pacquiao.

Even though lederman had it 1 round to bradley and yet it was given to bradley.

i knew this was going to happen when i saw the judge who favoured rios over abril and the other judge was too new was not qualified for this.

Maybe the biggest rob of the year after marquez vs pacquiao 3.

i don't know what a rematch will do as he was clearly in the first fight the same could happen again even if pacquiao wins by a big margin.

what were the judges watching and were they high or something.

lets just see what happens next. Its strange that bradley already knew he was going to win and offered a rematch before the fight.

I just sprained my ankle last week and need to recover quick to continue with my workout to make my deadline goal for 17th june.

I was playing basketball and as i was exploding towards the ball, i push off the top of my right foot which was upside down which caused my feet to slip to the side.

so my feet turned under and putting pressure on it while under slipped to the outside to the right. very painfull.

i have missed week 1 and already missed day 1 of week 2 any suggestions to speed up recovery?

thanks

:o What!?, no way i was also looking forward to that fight, this would have shown canelo's ability as a fighter to prove his worthiness for a mayweather fight.

can't believe it.

I am currently on my second day of my full workout first out two full workout weeks and i can't do anything.

Yesterday i was playing basketball, i was going to chase after the player with the ball, run to that person, but my second step, pushing off my right foot, i don't know how, but my right foot was plantar flexed and i ended up push off my right leg, which bent upside and down and to the right. so i was pushing off the top of my foot with my heels facing up and once the weight was on it my feet in an upside down state buckled to the right.

So a weird twist and the muscle around my ankle has swollen.

now i can't workout. what can i do but except it and wait till it heals and continue with my workout, even though i will be missing workouts and therefore missing my deadline.

i am starting to prevent over striding, which i have not seen a difference in my time.
fastest i had with exaggerated high knee got 10.13 now i got 10.46, which was an increase from 10.47 trying to figure out the high knee thing. i can't reach 10.13 yet.

What are you trying to achieve, with the coding, what will the final finished product do?

I Recorded my self sprinting and maybe you can make a better diagnosis of where i am going wrong.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tbEg4h827Ao

Maybe the knee is not the issue and i am over analyzing (which i tend to do) and me trying to purposely bring my knees higher when running at full intensity and failing is the problem. but i know that maybe my knees probably should be getting higher and my heels needs to be more tucked towards my buttocks (here i go again over analyzing). You're judgement of what is wrong at maximum velocity phase counts and will put me at rest.

I was told that i am over striding at the start, which is one thing i will have to correct by changing my mentality. Do you have any suggestions on how i can prevent over striding at the beginning?

Really appreciate your help and will add your drills into my speed program.
Thanks :headbang:

Really hard to tell with that camera quality :). Your reaching way too far at the start but from what I can see you don't look that terrible at high speeds. How long have you been sprinting? Honestly, I would recommend that you work on general mobility, flexibility and strength and keep practicing sprinting for awhile. It seems as if your at the stage where you can still make progress but just getting stronger and more mobile and I think actively trying to change your form or copy Usain Bolt is detrimental at this point. Also, when you do video analysis it's best you can wear some form fitting clothes at the least because it's really hard to see what's happening in that video. Good luck.

I know, i recorded it with a mobile phone. I also agree i am reaching too far. Overstriding. So at top speed my knees are as high as it needs to be. Thanks for the info. The difficult part is overcome over striding.

I have been sprinting for nearly a year before that i was doing strength exercises like ghr, squats, etc. But i was interested in increasing my sprint times for now but incorporating sprints into my workout has been about a year or two. But earlier i was training properly until i got some advice and started training properly for sprinting last year october when i started SAQ drills. before that i was experimenting i guess but didn't go well.

Every workout i do mobiliy drills, every time, ankle, glute activation, hip mobility drills, illipsoas stretch this is for mobility and flexibility. for mobility i do SAQ drills. Soon after i will start hypertrophy to gain mass and get more muscle fibres which after i will strength train to utilize those strength.

also adding a skip drills. I was also thinking of adding core workout days where i may do uphill sprint to over over striding and strength my core.

I was playing basketball at that time wearing half boot half trainer bred footwear and decided to record my self and see my form and get experts opinion.

any tips or drills i could incorporate to overcome the overstriding at the start.
thanks for the help really appreciate it ;)

Are you saying that your hip flexors aren't able to keep your knee elevated? You should be able to stand tall on one leg (pulling your high knee up as high as it can go), after letting go of the knee it should only drop 1-3 inches. As for these drills I personally would start with marching on the balls of the feet. Concentrating on driving the balls of the feet into the ground for as short duration as possible yet applying as much force in that short time.

I can get my knee high at slow paced run/ fast jog but at full intensity, my knees won't go higher than i would like. i do hip flexor stretches i can stand and pull my knees to my chest its just running at full intensity.

also regarding the drill mentioned in the first paragraph. im not sure i understand the drill, but i should pull my knee up with my hands high as it can go then let go it should drop 1-3 inches but still high. then i should push it down and pull the other knee up?

when you say march on the balls of the feet. is this for the first drill you mentioned so i should pull my knees up while on the balls of my feet and i have to do the first drill in a march like style.

i understand the other drill you mentioned after its just the first drill im not sure with.
have a video of these drills.

thanks

Progress Journals & Experimental Routines / Re: THE DREAM JOURNAL
« on: May 21, 2012, 04:39:29 pm »
I had a strange dream the week that just passed.

Me and some other people were messing around in this baseball stadium playing baseball but not properly, i was at the base and i had a can which contained a water like liquid. even though i was the thrower i was standing where a batter would stand. but i was shacking the can towards the batter who was floyd mayweather and he would just try and hit the water that was spilling from the can with the bat while trying to avoid to get wet.

Then i had a grape which i threw at him, which he hit it with his bat and i tried catching it, it slipped passed my hands and i pulled my hands in so it landed on my arm near the elbow and i became so happy i was celebrating that i caught mayweather out.
he was also celebrating with me. don't know why.

weird dream.

I was immediately drawn to this site due to it openness and freedom of information, I feel I may be able to contribute in the areas of nutrition and sprinting specifically ( as I was fortunate to have access and interaction/training with multiple Sprinters from west Africa).

Welcome Mate.
You are my kinda guy, i definitely would appreciate some help on my sprinting form.
Looking forward to having you on board.

Pacquiao won't take drug test because he is afraid of needles :ninja:
:uhhhfacepalm:

He should take drug test. I doubt pacquiao takes any drug that's just mayweathers (as arum puts it goebbels propaganda tricks) :P
Mayweather is just scared.

Afraid of needles yet having tattoos.

I know, yet he has tattoos.
that's why the hand to the face.

What a silly excuse.

But they don't use needles in tattoos do they just use a laser pen looking thing and ink?

What is Osgood Schlatters disease?

It was named after two physicians in 1903, Dr. Robert Osgood and Dr. Carl Schlatter. These Doctors defined the disease.

Osgood Schlatters disease is a very common cause of knee pain in children and young athletes usually between the ages of 10 and 15. It occurs due to a period of rapid growth, combined with a high level of sporting activity.

These changes result in a pulling force from the patella tendon, on to the tibial tuberosity (bony protrusion at the top of the shin). This area then becomes inflamed, painful and swollen. This is frequent in younger people due to the remaining softness in their bones (from childhood).

Treatment of Osgood Schlatters disease

What can the athlete do?

    Rest.
This injury needs rest if it is to heal properly.
Only do as much exercise as it will allow without causing pain.
Weight bearing exercise will make it worse. Keep your sessions few and high quality rather than train every day.
Apply ice or cold therapy to the knee regularly throughout the day to reduce pain and inflammation and particularly following activity or sport. Ice should be applied at least three times a day for 10 to 15 minutes. Ice massage with an ice cube is a convenient way to apply cold therapy to a specific area such as the patella tendon.
Gently stretch the quad muscles if comfortable to do so.
Use a knee support or knee strap to help reduce the tension on the knee.
    See a sports injury professional

Andre Berto Tests Positive for Steroids Putting Victor Ortiz Bout in Question
:o :o :o

What is going on, how many boxers are going to be taking steroids, first peterson with the intent of defeating a champion khan and now berto to take revenge for his defeat from ortiz but with the help of drugs, as he knows he can't beat ortiz.

 :pissed:

IBF welterweight title holder Andre Berto has tested positive for steroids, making him the second fighter within a month to test positive for a performance-enhancing drug, according to ESPN boxing writer Dan Rafael,

Rafael Tweeted:

The unfortunate news puts the June 23 rematch between Berto and Victor Ortiz in serious limbo. The match was already postponed from it's original date of Feb. 11 due to Berto injuring his bicep

A new trend is emerging among elite boxers. Just a few weeks ago, the much-anticipated rematch between Lamont Peterson and Amir Khan was postponed due to Peterson failing a random drug test.

If the Berto-Ortiz rematch is indeed cancelled, this would be two major cards that were cancelled in succession, making the June 9 Manny Pacquiao-Timothy Bradley bout even bigger than it was before. Boxing will need as much good press as possible going forward to get the public to move on from these two unfortunate incidents.

In this day of heightened testing procedures, any athlete that takes a risk using a PED and gets caught deserves a stiff penalty. With more and more cases popping up as of late, guidelines to just what those penalties will be needs to be created in order to punish the offenders accordingly and consistently.
