Anyone ever done anything like this? Im thinking about trying it for a few weeks just to see what happens.

I understand its designed for gaining size and such and won't benefit max strength/athletic ability massively although with a bit of extra muscle from a few week block of this will make it easier to gain max strength later?

And how good is it for adding size?

(im talking about the 10x10)

so i have exams coming up soon, but every time i go to revise i can never concentrate end up doing 10 minutes of scimming through stuff taking nothing in...and i really need to do well in these exams haha...

is there any foods/diet types/supps that are good for concentration/focus?

sounds ridiculous but worth a try you never know someone out there might credit there whole bunch of academic achievements to some food no ones heard of before!

i saw them 'FOCUS FOOD' bars or something on defrancoes and they claimed it made guys want to actaully go and study...wuuut!? lol

when i do the basic hip flexor stretch....

i can contract my left glute fine and it helps me stretch the hips out better...yet its impossible for me to contract my right glute? i just cant do it....it fires fine in other exercises i think...but this...its non-existant...

any ideas as to why this is? and im guessing its something that needs to be sorted out....single leg glute bridges etc?

Injury, Prehab, & Rehab talk for the brittlebros / ANKLE THREAD
« on: March 14, 2011, 04:28:39 pm »
Basically everyone involved in athletic activities has ankle problems at sometimes...so i thought a thread containing everything ankles - prevention, rehab everything would be good/helpful (sure would be helpful for me, often find myself searching multiple threads/places on the internet so would be good to have it all in one place...

im sure on this site there are a lot of people with a lot of experience/knowledge of ankles and the problems they cause people so lets group all that information together for a community of athletes with indestructible ankles!

-how to treat sprained ankles? rice etc...
-how to prevent future ankle problems stengthening, mobility, proprioception(i think this is the most under used disregarded aspect of rehab for ankles......WOBBLE BOARDS FTW.
-footwear + restricition

one thing theres a lot of confliciting advice about is the use of braces/tape and high tops.....i used to agree with all the people against high tops and ankle restriction in the form of braces...until i dislocated my ankle wearing kobe ivs (low tops) and no restriction...now i never play competitive basketball without my braces....but today i rolled my ankle while in a brace..so obviously it doesnt remove the problem? i think a big problem is the lift from bball shoes due to the cushioning systems....if someone could explain why this is bad compared to real low shoes nike frees and the like......but really for basketball there is no way around this is there?

please all you people with tons of knowledge on ankles shove it all into this thread so we can all have a great resource to go to when we inevitably experience ankle problems...because a lot can be done for prevention rehab and i dont think a lot of people know this....i see people sprain there ankle 10 times a year and return to play 3 days later everytime with no rehab...not the way to go.

Injury, Prehab, & Rehab talk for the brittlebros / Ankle Dislocation
« on: October 14, 2010, 02:14:42 pm »
Happened in game, came down from a layup thought id just sprained it badly looked down and my toes were pointing towards my left shoulder (right foot) paramedics ambulance etc came said it was almost through the skin. Had oxygen, morphine and then got put out so they could put it back into place which they did and then shoved it in a plaster cast.

Somehow no fractures although probably some quite extensive ligament damage. Have been told im going to be stuck in a cast for 4-5 weeks and then gradual mobilisation through pt.

Just wondered if anybody knew of anything I can do to speed the healing/prevent long term problems as much as possible or failing that entertain myself over the next few months with no ball!

So I want to carry on strength training, BUT...basketball practice is now like this...

Monday - 2HOURS
Tuesday - 2HOURS
Wednesday - 3HOURS/OR GAME
Thursday - 1HOUR 30
Friday - 2 HOURS
Saturday - 2 HOUR/GAME
Sunday - GAME IF NOT ON SAT

So I don't think I can really carry on with SS 3x5 as it would just be too much...I was thinking of having the same sort of format with

A
SQUAT
BENCH
DEADLIFT
(UPPER BACK LIFT)

B
SQUAT
PRESS
POWER CLEAN
CHIN-UPS

I think I would put A on thursday, and B on sunday and then on wednesday throw in a lighter workout of

Bulgarian split squats
Leg curl/nat ghr idk
maybe some upper body stuff like curls?/lateral raises? pushups? etc?
Calf raises

How do you think this would work and if possible suggest something better, i know its a lot to read but really not sure what to do, i enjoy lifting and have seen good results before etc so dont want to give it up.

BTW previous stats about a month ago

Squat 90kg x 5
Bench 50kg x 5
Press 38?kg x 5
Deadlift 100kg x 5 (ran out of weights could have been more)
Power clean - 50kg x 3
Chinups-max of 6 -WEak i know!

Obviously on this sort of routine i would have to eat a hell of a lot more than i am now, and really use some recovery techniques etc but just checking with you guys who know much more than I about this stuff...

thanks
