Have you ever had any knee issues as a result of your knees going past your toes when squatting?
Before I started getting knee problems I used to lean forward to prevent knees from going over toes but in hindsight the forward lean may have been the problem.

ya pretty much.. well, it's always been something im good at but never cared about.. decided to just start caring about it from now on, see what i can do, push myself to the limit endurance wise. it's going to be fun competing too..

the only other time ive focused on running was when i boxed.. was in insane shape, loved how i felt.. but i didnt focus on running primarily, it was just something i did to improve my fitness for boxing.. so now, im focusing primarily on running, going to see what i can do to get back to that level of fitness then push my limits, should be fun.

pc man

I hear ya, I have almost exactly the same build as you in terms of height and weight. As a kid long distance running was my thing and I wasn't too bad considering I never trained for it. Right now I can't run for shit though haha...just so out of shape overall my lungs wouldn't be able to deliver.
You'll be a long distance BEAST if you keep this up thought. Upping the pace for the last mile is no joke. Do you listen to music when you're running?

i wrote a bigger reply but my comp crashed hehe

Ahhh haha isn't that just the worst

well ya.. im focusing mostly on conditioning.. want to get in insane shape, like im supposed to be in.. i still want to dunk tho, and i will.. i just need to rest a day or so before jumping, because my legs are getting battered with all this running/jumprope.. in a few months tho, the running/jump rope shouldnt really cause any fatigue the next day, so jumping shouldn't be as bad in terms of needing more recovery..

that last dunk session i posted a vid of, i felt REALLY good.. had osme great jumps, and that was ~1 week without dunking + doing only running/jump rope during that week.. my jumping will be decent once im adapted to all of this conditioning.

pC man

Okay I see. You run like crazy man, must have a good set of lungs on you.
So pretty much long distance running is taking the priority with dunks in between for fun. What made you decide to make the switch and start running?

Dude you're a friggin beast. Was there ever a time when you couldn't dunk? Do you ever try different dunks besides standing 2-handers?
I wonder what your running vert is...

Hey man, you probably mentioned this somewhere in the last few pages, but why the change to long distance running/eating a ton?
Are you moving away from dunk training?

I've always wondered why you want a 47 vert, and not a 46 or 48?

not sure if serious

6'1" = 73"
73" + 47" = 120"
120" = 10'
10'= Rim Height

I don't see why nobody replied to this sooner..
Sick dunks man, seriously, and at your age too (I'm sure you hear that a lot).
Did you have to work at your vert to get that first dunk when you were younger or did you just have natural hops?

After Divad's post my PR looks like shit hehe...
Yesterday I finally threw down a dunk off two feet though!

Flip 110x5 squats:

I might very well be wrong here, but with those squats, isn't he breaking at the knees before the hips? I have (well, had) an almost identical looking squat and it put a ton of pressure on the knees. My understanding of the squat is you should sit back, dropping your ass first and keeping your knees in a more or less fixed position.

I was watching you 11" jump video and I saw that when you jumped you did a butt kick then forced your legs back down. I watched a football player on YouTube jump to grab money of the ceiling a he did it twice in the air does that get you even more air. I tried practicing that. It doesn't come natural to me, but it looks like it helps a lot.

Cool observation...imma keep that in mind next time I jump off 2 legs.

they did that when you were there? pretty cool, really intense..

not to go off on a rant or anything, but, i find that kind of unity odd.. i've never had it.. i've never felt that kind of 'unity' with my high school, college, country, or anything.. i lack that "my bleh is better than yours", fill that in with country, school, team, anything.. it's odd.. like for team sports, in reality, i don't really support any team, i just support the players that I follow.. like I watch nba now for lebron/blake griffin and stuff like that.. i remember watching a playoff game with the spurs, and tim duncan got hurt, at the opponent's arena... and everyone was cheering him off the court, even though he was hurt/being helped out/into the locker room.. it's odd, i genetically seem to lack a 'blind support' for some kind of state or organization confined to some borders etc.

dno, weird rant, but videos like that make me think about it..

a good example of it would be the pacers/detroit pistons incident, where those home fans were just going apeshit, then finally someone throws a drink on artest... to me that's just unfathomable.. that's such a deep loyalty to a team/franchise that doesn't truly have any loyalty to you, odd.

odd

odd

Not your point I know, but are you sure they weren't cheering in support? Generally in the NBA with injuries the crowd is really supportive regardless of the team.

Sick man yeah I know Kloten, actually still have a few buddies who live there.
I just moved to Feldmeilen a couple years back, if you don't know it it's about 20mins out from Zurich city in the opposite direction from Kloten.
I wish I was playing ball for my school man, I only started playing consistently since I the beginning of college and only started getting serious around a year ago. I'm hoping to play club next semester though and just keep working on my athleticism/skill work.
That's cool, have you ever played organized ball in Switzerland? A guy who went to my school and his brother play for the Swiss Central Basket U20 team but I have no idea how good they actually are.
Anyway good luck man, keep working and you'll be playing college ball next year for sure. Btw, any idea which schools you're going to apply to?

Hey man, welcome.
I actually live in Zurich too, but I'm in college in the states right now. Where in Zurich do you live? Do you go to an international school or are you in a kantonsschule?
I checked out you're thread in the journal section too, looks like you've got some hops. Rep the swiss and get dunkin!

In the leg press vid the guy is also locking his knees after extending which you never want to do.
