bw = 179

soreness = not much

injuries: this is going to be ongoing until i figure out how to fix it.. right knee. This is that old injury I got when riding that wrecked bike for ~6 miles or so. I've had this just havn't journaled it. It comes and goes and just makes my right knee feel 'weak', especially on things like single leg squat where some muscles literally want to give out on the first rep, but then after, everything is fine. Need to figure this out.

fatigue: a bit tired, sleep debt catching up

when: morning

Session: Jog & Sprint, Bodyweight Strength

shoes:nbmt

Jog/Sprint: 4 mi
- lots of ~10's
- a few extended 'mid foot jogs'

Bodyweight Strength

Pushups: 10 <- lmao

Single leg calf raises: 3 x 15

Single leg back squat, heel elevated: 3 @ 5, 10, 15
- sl back squat means off leg goes backwards

my glutes are wrecked.. pretty sore. Those sl squats were solid.

One thing i've never been able to do in life is mid-foot jog. Any time i've tried, it's resulted in EXTREME calf soreness (up to a week or more of debilitating calf soreness). I'd like to slowly try and see if I can acquire a midfoot style. If I can, my bounce when jogging would get ridiculous.

How is that? Is it the 'shrimp'?

15 sounds like a lot for SL-whatever squats, very nice.

waitwhat, adarqui logging squats?!?!?!?

hah thnx.

ya it's similar to the shrimp. Not holding my backfoot, and not elevated on something to get more depth. I'm basically firing my leg back, straightening it out a bit with some hip extension as i go down. Heel elevated.

i'm wrecked-sore today in glutes/hams. 8|

lots of glute/hamstring soreness since that last workout.

01/22/2015

soreness: glutes, hamstrings, calf
very sore

01/23/2015

soreness: glutes, hamstrings
very sore

01/24/2015

weight: 180
soreness: glutes, hamstrings
light soreness, most of it went away.

Session: Jog, Jump, Jog, Bodyweight Strength

Jog to court: ~3/4 mi

Jumps:
- tons of SLRVJ
- L-SLRVJ: a little more progress since last session, perhaps 124"? It was a double rim, so it's hard to tell. That particular jump felt the best yet.
- DLRVJ: horrible barely touching rim with fingertips

Jog home: ~3/4 mi

Bodyweight Strength:

S1: Neutral grip pullups: BW @ 3 x 3
- very weak

S1: Single leg squat, rear leg back, heel elevated: BW @ 10, 10, 15
- stronger on these already
- adductors/glutes a bit sore already
- right knee didn't 'collapse' on first rep today, which was good. All of that stretching might be helping. I'm loosening up some wrecked tissue in there near my calf origin/hamstring insertion.

S2: Pushups: BW @ 3 x 10

S2: Single leg calf raise:  BW @ 3 x 20
- need to get more ROM
- need to focus on getting off of my big toe

Getting off of my bigtoe applies to my SLRVJ too.

I don't feel (mentally) like I can even jump off two legs anymore. However, I feel mentally like I can eventually fly with SLRVJ. It's odd.

Had to wrestle a dog from wrecking my dog today. Gizmo is such a little punk. Snapped at a big dog. Big dog went berzerk trying to kill gizmo, had to wrestle him down to the ground by his throat. lmao. I had blood spatter on my shirt, in several spots. I think gizmo got a good bite on him during the fight because he's got no marks. He's 7 lb. Other dog was 40-50 lb. Havn't had to do anything like that in a while, hate it.

Let's see if those image links work.

NB xc900 v2's feel fairly amazing so far. Immediately can feel the similarity between them & nike zoom waffle racers. These actually seem lighter (feather light, 4-5oz). As to whether or not i'll be able to max RVJ in them, not sure yet. I predict i'll be able too. They are stronger than both of my nb minimus shoes (and i've jumped on the minimus trails). So, I imagine they will feel like waffle racers. They look ridiculous too, love em`. Feel very springy in them. Also, very comfortable just walking around. You get big toe push off fairly ez.

The plan is to be able to jog, sprint, and jump all wearing these shoes. I can't do that in my minimus shoes (too intense) or basketball shoes (too heavy/clunky, hyperdunks).

As for the NB minimus zero v2's, they feel slightly heavier than the xc900's. The sole feels similar to the touch, but once you put them on, it's obvious they are vibram's. They aren't comfortable like the xc900's, but that's how they are supposed to be. Intense shoes for sure. Will be good to walk around in at work perhaps. They feel more intense than my NB minimus trails, so right from the getgo I doubt i'd ever jump in these shoes. It would be like jumping barefoot on concrete.

Also, here are my NB minimus trails that I've been running in:

So far, perhaps the most durable shoes i've ever worn. The build is so rugged. The bottom of the sole still looks fairly new and i've put in some decent mileage on concrete/pavement with them. The fabric seems stitched/sown in durably as well. They are intense so jogging/walking in them would be ideal. Sprinting/jumping is risky. No idea how you would run/sprint on trails with rocks etc because you can really feel it through the sole. Very good shoes though, love em`.

COLD AS F**K THIS MORNING. For Floridians, 50* F is freezing. Wasn't expecting it so I had to battle it a bit.

weight: 178
soreness: right quad, left bicep, left hamstring
stretching: lots! stretching brings out some old injuries (which are actually stretching related, lmao.. so have to be careful). Feel very loose/light lately.

Session: Jog & Sprint

Run: ~3.4 mi
- Only ~10 sprints mixed in.

Hoping to get some jumps in tomorrow. I have a slight plan with the 'bodyweight training' portion of the workouts. Basically, I'll try to get several jog/sprint/jump days done. Once I feel 100% recovered, following that specific workout, i'll do the bodyweight training exercises (which have wrecked me lately).

So, the other part of that is the combined jog/sprint/jump days. I'd like to get some work in for those 3 particular movements, each session, to varying degrees. One sessions might be more jog dominated than the other.. One more jump oriented etc. But every session incorporates something from each movement.

That will be possible if these shoes I just received, allow me to max SLRVJ.

Sounds fun tbh..

you're not worried about those little nubs when you jump in the xc900s?
Muscles are nonsensical they have nothing to do with this bullshit.

wearing shoes like this (& vibram) just make me feel so good when training.  :wowthatwasnutswtf:

The Minimus look so awesome

ya.

both shoes look dope as fuq. xc900's have serious swag.

you're not worried about those little nubs when you jump in the xc900s?

nah, that stuff grinds down fast.. pretty similar to NZWR's.

just got done jumping in them this morning, couldn't even notice the nubs. Shoes were solid, loved em`. Felt a bit intense on the bottom of my heel but that's pretty much expected. Much less intense than jumping in the minimus's. I can see myself getting in some hard jump sessions with these on hard court. They'd be perfect in that gym I used to jump in. Also jogging/sprinting felt great.

I imagine if I just jumped with them, they'd last longer since i'm SLRVJ'n now which has less 'torque' in the plant. But, i'm also sprinting/jogging with these shoes so they should get beaten down fairly fast. Curious to see how they hold up.

word. might pick up a pair in that case. i've been enjoying jumping in my super-light tennis shoes but maybe it's time to start experimenting with racers again. i did hit my all-time PR in xc flats. but nzwrs were/are too narrow for my feet and not generous enough in the toe box to accommodate my arthritic toes.  :-[

nice!

yea those tennis shoes looked nice, the lottos.. I was on the verge of buying a pair of those and the adidas adios's but I found these and just went with it. uber-light shoes make me want to do athletic stuff. Still to this day, the best jogging i've ever experienced was in vibram's, which was intense as fu*k. Best jumping was/is in NZWR's. Best sprinting in NZWR's. Although, sprinting in vibram's felt pretty dope, could feel myself getting pull with my toes. Just can't be that safe.

what kind of xc flats were they again?

ah.. these may be SLIGHTLY wider than NZWR's. Maybe not too much to be noticeable.
