Yo it'll be crazy to see someone who has high amounts of relative strength like you distance running. You defintiely don't have to try as hard per stride as a regular endurance runner as long as you keep up your strength
"Performance during stretch-shortening cycle exercise is influenced by the visco-elastic properties of the muscle-tendon units. During stretching of an activated muscle, mechanical energy is absorbed in the tendon structures (tendon and aponeurosis) and this energy can subsequently be re-utilized if shortening of the muscle immediately follows the stretching. According to Biscotti (2000), 72% of the elastic energy restitution action comes from tendons, 28% - from contractile elements of muscles.

bringing the long distance genetics into play?

nice   ;)

yup :F

time to max em out.

ya pretty much.. well, it's always been something im good at but never cared about.. decided to just start caring about it from now on, see what i can do, push myself to the limit endurance wise. it's going to be fun competing too..

the only other time ive focused on running was when i boxed.. was in insane shape, loved how i felt.. but i didnt focus on running primarily, it was just something i did to improve my fitness for boxing.. so now, im focusing primarily on running, going to see what i can do to get back to that level of fitness then push my limits, should be fun.

pc man

I hear ya, I have almost exactly the same build as you in terms of height and weight. As a kid long distance running was my thing and I wasn't too bad considering I never trained for it. Right now I can't run for shit though haha...just so out of shape overall my lungs wouldn't be able to deliver.
You'll be a long distance BEAST if you keep this up thought. Upping the pace for the last mile is no joke. Do you listen to music when you're running?

i used to listen to music when i run, but now, i stopped.. last 2 weeks i've been running no ipod etc.. just thinking about stuff instead or letting my mind clear.

ya i never trained for it when i was young either, just ran everywhere when i didnt have a bike, and played hours of bball nearly every day.. only time i trained for it properly was when i boxed, but i never did any races.. will be fun to do some races, maybe eventually find some people to run with occasionally, apparently they have alot of that around here.

ya it's funny, your lungs/body would probably adapt pretty quick if you're built for it.. i've been improving faster than i thought i would.

pc man

ya im not lifting though anymore.. dont need to though.. lifting makes me too tight when running too so, cant combine the two.. i mean i could lift real light/high rep and run, but i cant train max and run, they end up conflicting with each other.. ill get way too tight and my "drive to continue running" disappears.. like ill want to quit way too bad, has to do with my body knowing it needs to recover for heavy lifting, i think.

so ya im just running/jump rope/jumps from now on.

It's nice to have endless stamina and endurance, my biggest problem is huge difficulty in breathing out of my nose and right side pain under ribs. P.S try to read my last journal post and give me an advice about me not using my posterior chain on my squats if you can relate to that. thanks man ! keep up the good work

i will tomorrow if my site still exists :<

icann is trying to take the domain name away from me i think.. ;/ someone probably been contacting them trying to nitpick small violations in how i registered the domain.. i had changed the registrar/admin/billing info temporarily when i was receiving phone calls from some weirdos.. then i got a notice to change the info back, which i thought i did, but i only changed registrar, not billing/admin.. bluehost said everything was fine at the time though.. so now i think they might be going back to that and saying i failed to comply... i changed it immediately tonight, when i got the email, it said i had 24 hours to comply, but the site had already been modified before that... ;/

hurt my toe real bad jogging with my dog.. dont know how.. but toenail/toe is real red and hurts like f**k

training A:
legs felt real good today.. but my dunk session sucked because of my toe.. felt like my nail ripped off, thought it did actually, but the nail seems fine.. it's weird.. lots of layups nonstop etc.

training B:

5000 jump rope turns in a row, 3 momentary stops from messups.

wanted to come home, relax, then jump rope.. instead, came home, found out my site has been down all day for most people, then got the email from bluehost, then got pissed, and jumproped.. so at least i still jump roped.

pc

edit: oh i strained my left shoulder slightly at work lool.. should be fine though.

soreness = glutes/calfs

aches/injuries = feet achy, right hip flexor

training:
ran ~7 miles, cut it short a bit, wanted 10.. but hip flexor was acting up after i evaded some car at mile 3.. kept a pretty good pace.. went all out around 6-7, thats when hip flexor gayed up.

stretching: lots

food: tons, 2 pints of ice cream too and 2 bags of chocolate covered almonds, bo$$

need to stretch more.. when i feel real loose, my form really falls into place good.. when i feel tight like today, form suffers.. need to just feel really loose the day im planning to run, which is like, every day so...... need to stretch real good at night..

lungs are starting to adapt to higher paces for long distances.. pushing it a bit lately instead of just relaxing.. ill feel my inspiration muscles freak out then they begin to relax and not over-work.

OH, it's also lots of fun to pass other people running.. it makes running real fun.. for example, you'll see people jogging say 200 yards from you, then you just keep your pace or increase it a little and just fly by them, it's pretty fun. haha.. it's fun to try and keep up with bicycles too, some people are just riding a relaxed pace and dont know you're trying to tail them.
