Quick update: something had to happen smh. Got down to 178lbs while maintaining strength, very explosive and hoops were going well. So my knee gave out. Strained MCL and partial tear of the medial meniscus. 2 weeks off so far and improvement is slow. Sucks not being able to do legs. Physical therapist is hoping Im only out for another 4-6 weeks. Bah. Motivation to come back is already gnawing at me intensely. 😡

damn man :/

been wondering where the workout clips went.. :/

heal up, don't rush it.

Yup that would be why I haven't posted any dunks or anything lately to ig lol! Side note, the extra energy I have from not doing legs is shooting my upper body lifts up! I DB flat benched 120s the other day at 180lbs bw. Inwas shocked.  As for recovery... Its a struggle but I have to take it easy because the alternatives are worse.

Got cleared to do some light lifting. Tried squatting Monday and he knee jount isnt too stable and had some patella tendon inflammation so I stopped at 135lbs and just did 3x10. Bleh. Knee joint feels amazing until i gp below parallel thennn it flares up some. Tried a few box jumps. 30" box was a barely make it type deal lol! Packed it in.

Today.... figured id deadlift and see how it feels since it doesnt have mcuh knee flexion. Light warmup (dynamic but much less than my normal) and the 30" jumps were slightly better. No depth jumps or repetitive jumps just to be safe. I'll wait til its 100%. 135, 185, 225, 275, 315, 365, even pulled 405 rather easily (surprising considering the time off). Did 3x8 at 225 for sets. Curious to see how the knee feels tomorrow.  General plan is to slowly work back to a solid 365 squat, 425 dead then start some explosive lifts/plyos. Tried a single one step jump post lifts today. Touched 10'3" and landing was unstable so no more for a minute. BW was 183lbs today btw.

2 things of note, 1 rather large the other...not so much.  First, the gym has decided to have a 1000lb club! Yay!!! I would like to be at the top of the lb for lb list so thats a goal. Currently the gym owner has moved 1250ish withroom to go at a BW of 200lbs. So thats the benchmark. I wont make the overall lbs list as theres some 240+lb beasts that come through lol

Secondly, and the big one. The docs have discovered what has been plauging me for the last 5-6 months medically. Thyroid issues run in my family and apparently mine ran amuck and shut down my test production. Blood work last week revealed it to be on the extreme low side of normal. (explains my exhaustion, slow recovery and healing, lethargy and stalling on my lifts overall). Im now on meds to hopefully stabilize my thyroid AND a super low dose of test cyp that should bring me back to normal ranges. I had my 1st injection Wednesday which scared me to death (needle phobia) and the dr says itll take a few weeks to stabilize and come up. Blood work every month because he refuses to allow me to go over normal levels of test (I dont blame him and dont really want to). That said mentally its a struggle right now because well, fuck, im only freaking 30 years old and thats messing with me some "as a man". And then theres the whole, well chris is on gear now BS which i dont really care for seeing as Id still test clean in any competition. But it is what it is and if it helps me be me again im going to do it. so yea, theres my huge 'fuck my life' rant.

Knee felt a little better today overall. Much better through warmups. Box jumps felt stronger. Kept volume low overall on them and tried one depth jump which was surprisingly springy. I moved up weight on warmup squats in smaller increments and got to a 315 single. Had more but I didnt want to push it too hard. No belt/knee sleeve things. Dropped to 225 for a 3x8 and found out how little conditioning my quads have lol! First reps were smooth but legs on fire by the 6th-8th reps even tho I was moving the weight easily. Did a few light step ups and some calf raises as well. I wasnt sore after Thursdays leg day but I think i will be tomorrow lol!

Oh and Im over 1000 lbs now at 183lbs BW lol! 405 dead, 295 bench (Sunday) and the 315 back squat today. Not bad considering. Current total weight: 1,015lbs. Goal by 2018: 1,250 lbs total. We shall see.

Thanks LBSS! Hit back pretty hard today and core and somehow weighed inat 185lbs? Ugh. Knee felt better so I went to put up a few shots tonight. Kumper and handle feel weird... may or may not have attempted a handful of dunks. Self bounce lob and off the dribble are still there, timing way off on backboard lobs and reg lobs. Just tried one of each and shut it doen before I did something too stupid. Definitely missing some explosiveness and power.

Knee felt ok this am soooo, Turkey Day deadlifts!

Warmups are feeling stronger, sprinkling in some more depth jumps with box jumps.

Deaifts: 135 x8, 225 x5, 315 x1, 405 x1, 455 x1, 405x3, 315 3x12. Surprised myself. Probably had 475 in me but wanted to be safe and hit some volume to get my stength back up.

Accessory work was kept very light and higher reps: BSS, calf raises, ham curls and glute kickbacks.

Well... BW is up to 186. Damn. I WANT to say its this: I lost some size in my legs over the last 8 weeks but my weight stayed the same (182ish). Im assuming I put on some weight upper body wise to keep my weight the same and now that Im back hitting legs... Im adding that size/weight back. At least thats how im rationalizing it lol

Hit back hard today. Barbell rows up to a 275 single. 205 for a 5x5 amd a drop set to finish 135 x12. Cable row, lat pull, face pull and bacl extension circuits. Finished with pullups and BS bicep work lol!

Late night Sunday lift=empty gym=heaven!

Chest.and triceps work. Got 275 for 4 on bench really wanted 5 reps but with no spotter...meh. 4 is good lol! Hammered triceps for a couple sets then lots of stretching especially on the knee. Some days it feels back to normal others its tight still so im taking it day by day.

that's a pretty good sign that the knee held up in those pickup games & you weren't wrecked the next day, awesome.

stay careful though like you're doing. DL/Bench still rugged.

Thanks Andrew!

Squatted today. Went a bit harder in warmups and it felt ok. Has a small sticking point/popping when I was warming up on squats. bar x10, 135 x8, 225 x3, 275 x1, 315 x1, 365 x1. <felt easy af. Knee felt normal and I wasily had 385/390ish. Prolly had 405 in me. Playing it smart and stopped there tho. 275 for 3x8 and the knee had some soreness. 135 FS for a 3x10 then some calf raises and bar weight stepups/lunges. Overall..happy

Roller coaster continues lol! Went to shoot Tues after a back workout. Felt ok going, 70-75%, made a move and planted on it for a reverse layup...sharp pain. No good. Knee has fluid in it below the patella, and aoccasional quick, sharp pains on the back of it but has full ROM still. Felt ok thursday so i deadlifted. Late af at night so no energy but my jumps were bouncier, and no pain just a little swelling. 455 top single and 365 for a 4x8. BW down to 185lbs. Called ortho Friday and theyre going to worm me in next week for a re-eval amd see whats up. I just wanna be healthy again.

Side note: put the Christmas tree up and surprised my princess with her very own 2 ft tall tree for her armoire. She was so excited we had to make ornaments for it and leave a plate of cookies out TONIGHT. lol guess who got cookies! mmmm

Weeks update condensed:

Meh. Squatted Monday warmups sucked, warmup squats sucked. Bar x10, 135 x8, 225 x4, 315, 365, 385 <knee popped super fucking loud on the way up. Loud enough a buddy a rack over heard it and thought i was going to get stuck. But ill be damned it felt GOOD. Weird. Like I had a ligament or tendon slighlty out of place and it popped back.  275 3x8 was fine afterwards. Still have a little of what feel like patellar tendinitis but the pain  pain was gone. Cool.

Today: warmups felt much stronger. More explosive on jumps. Deadlifts: 135 x8, 225 x5, 315, 405, 435, 475. Awesome. Went to 405 for reps... should have stopped at 3. Did 5 tho. Back is tight now. 365 for 7 then for 10. Hit some BSS, calves and ham curls.

Current weight at 184.2lbs
