I live in....Texas. -___-

:) but in reality its either that or my movements are so well 'greased' that it's become 'easier'. Either way I'm going to strive to keep whatever it is and get some strength back.

Oh...and dammit. I'm sore lol

Went and shot some today. Mostly wanted to jump. Few things Ive noticed: my run up is lacking speed right now, I dont feel that final 'push off' from my ankles/feet I usually feel, I'm (not a lot but a little) 'collapsing' at my core during the plant.  So I need to fix these and get strong again.

Positive note was my timing seemed much better. Got a few dunks easier than normal and I know I wasn't jumping as high as I was a few months back. Thats cool.

Hm... collapsing at your core could actually mean you lack your former dorsiflexion. So in order not to lose your balance, you bent forward with your chest when you plant deep. Just a thought, I don't know if that's the case.

Actually....its a VERY strong possibility.  I don't have the same ROM on my left that I do on my right since the Achilles injury. I'm working on it every day but it seems to have stalled a little short.

A visit back to the therapist may be in order. Thanks Raptor!

Cool man. Try some deep squats holds (bodyweight only) every day, rocking back and forth easily on the left and right ankles in that full squat position (holding to something in front of you or with a band around your butt). Hopefully that would make the ankle dorsiflexion better (but again - you know better than me what kind of injury you have and if that's a good idea or not).

I'll try that out Raptor. I'm open to anything really. If it works great if not, keep looking.  Officially it was a grade 1/2 achilles strain. But at this point im really wondering if there wasn't a small tear considering how slowly it healed and the lack of ROM currently.  The only soreness I get now is immediately after a deep dorsiflex stretch, give it a minute or two and its back to feeling normal again. Might toss some sprints in and see how it does.

What about easy barefoot running? Does that affect it?

Haven't tried. I hate being barefoot lol! I can bounce up and down the stairs after the kids no problem though. I'll try some barefoot running tomorrow if this rain lets up and report back.

Too much rain to run yesterday so I lifted again. Im keeping volume really low as I still have a few games left (im still getting sore since its been so long lol). I did push my deadlift to 325lbs for a single so thats encouraging. All assistance lifts are at about half the weight I was using. I'll see if I can jog some today, rain is supposed to clear out later this afternoon.

Still raining. Bah. Went and played some full court ball with some local college players instead. Played decently, only 2 turnovers in 6 total games. Didn't need to score a bunch so that was nice lol! Just played d and racked up assists :) missed a putback attempt that I probably should have just rebounded. Tried to come from one side of the rim and reach around and jam it from the other lol! Made up for it on a 3 on 1 fast break when I got an off glass oop with both hands. Total gym shutdown for a minute lol! Now...off to ice.

Had our last game before the tourney starts tonight, won 104-103. Hell of a game. I played pretty well except for a 3 minute stretch where I just wasn't in it for some reason. Made a turnover and forced a couple bad shots. Well, not necessarily bad but I should have worked for a better one. Oh well. I got the ball with 15 seconds left down 1 and drove baseline, lost the defender on the stepback (id been going around him all game so he was way out of position trying to anticipate my layup attempt) and smoothly missed the damn 10 footer. Rolled around and dropped out. Our big and their guy were battling for position and it was tipped towards the baseline where my defender tried to grab it but he slipped. I managed to simultaneously rip the ball from him and flip it towards my center who hit the layup to put us up with 3 seconds left. Im still pissed I missed but that anger helped I guess because I straight up took the ball away from the guy lol! Winnings winning but I really wanted to hit that lol! Anyway great end to the 'regular season'!

Shot around for an hour today, not a real workout just getting some blood going. Stretched and iced afterward definitely ready to lift in the am.

Had another light ish lifting session this morning. Basically just trying to get my body used to lifting again and ready for the real work to come in a few weeks. Did manage to deadlift 325lbs with a little struggle. So that's minor progress.

Had our first game of the playoffs....won. :) Ended up winning by 17 but we got lazy late. We were up 24 with 7 mins left and we stopped closing out on their shooters and they made a little run. They had it down to 11 with 2:30 left when we called timout and regrouped. I had 9 of our last 14 points along with 2 blocks in that last 2:30 so that felt good. The team played exceptional tonight, great screens/cuts and passing led to a ton of layups. I stepped on someones foot rebounding in the first half and heard a little pop in my foot. Only hurts when I plant in it north/south really hard. Ive iced it and took an ibuprofen so we'll see how she reacts. If I have to I'll tape it for Thursdays game but I hate tape. Limits ROM too badly.
