Deadlifts:
(warmup) 135x5, 225x5, 295x1, 345x1
(worksets) 295x5, 295x5, 295x5, 225x8. Getting better.

Seated calf raise:
125lbs: x12, x12, x12

Ham curl:

Circuit of BSS/core/glute thrusts to finish. Decent workout!

--------------------------------------------

Monday July 1 2014

BW at 177lbs just before lifting

Dynamic warmup+jumps

Squats (b=banded. p=paused):
(warmup) 135x5p, 225x5b, 295x1b, 345x1b. Didn't realize I hadn't put my belt on yet lol! Usually I warmup sans belt except for the top single (safety) then stay belted for sets. oops. Nice to know I got it completely raw though!
(worksets) 295x5b, 295x5b, 295x5b, 225x5bp. K, paused explosive backoffs get a burn lol! 2nd set I struggled on rep 3 and 4, not sure why, 5 was much better.

paused calf raise on leg press:
500lbs: x12, x12, x12. 3rd set is a almost there. hopefully move weight up in 2 weeks!

hypers:
45lbs: x12, x12
bw: x15.

Ended with core, heavy stepups and some walking lunges. Had to cut stretching short and skipped icing y knees....we'll see how that feels tomorrow. :uhhhfacepalm:

K, so this is going to suck as my home PC is trashed but I tossed together some footage on my phone of the mini dunk session I had after last weeks 2 hour skills work session. If I look dead tired...it's because i was.  :) I had to self motivate a little because i was missing more than I was making but here goes....

Do you do high bar or low bar squats?

I put 130 kg yesterday high bar to do calf raises with and I couldn't even imagine myself getting down (not to mention up) with that weight.

High bar. Remember I'm pretty quad dominant.  :)

Damn.

You're basically light years ahead of me, and I've been training consistently in the last 7 years.

Maybe. I SUCK off one foot. Especially if we compare what I used to be able to do off one. I'm actually surprised and confused as to why it hasn't progressed nearly like my DL jumps. Ive added ~7" on my DL but maybe an inch or two off 1.

Because it depends less on strength and more on structure, bodyweight and non-contractile elements. If you're quad dominant and you bump up quad strength even more, then it's even worse, despite the strength gain.

On another note. Just did back/bicep/core workout.  Got ball with the guys later around 7pm. Going to suck, knees are sore because I didn't ice. Right quad is cramping hardcore and got some glute DOMS. Sigh. Next time, barring something happening to my daughter, everyone else can fuck off until om done stretching and icing. Rant over lol

I've had a friend who was quad dominant and would describe jumping off one leg as "losing himself in the air"... he then developed ankle injuries and knee injuries in the end.

Usually, quad dominant people will eventually develop knee injuries because of that overload again and again and again of the knees traveling forward on each jump.

Hip dominant guys might get back injuries if they start hyperextending at the back, probably.

Yea, I don't feel 'lost' in the air yet. As stated previously I get up great in game situations off one. Either leg actually. I just cant replicate that in training and practice.

My goal is to become more balanced. I think it'll help both in injury prevention and overall explosiveness. Im going to start sprinting soon, hoping that helps some.

Ughh. Yup, legs are complete jelly. Played 2 hours and had no lift until the last game. Maybe its because we lost the previous two or I finally got warmed up enough to not feel dead but I had TWO putback dunks. Got one easy one hander that was right off the rim. Perfect placement. Second one a guy missed a layup and I put it back two handed while getting it in the face by a 6'2 guy. Poster. And1. Both firsts!!! Was so pumped up after that! Got him chest to chest, no dunk by straight dunk ON. :D

Definitely resting tomorrow lol
