Well, we won our first game by 9. We were up 16 with 1:37 left and let up, they hit a couple 3s. Can't let that happen against better teams. I played...ok. 6/10 self rating. Jumper was...suspect. Most were just a little long, couple in and out. They couldnt guard me off the bounce tho, bunch of layups. Finished with 24ptd, 14reb, 8ast and 3 blocks (unofficial books kept by the women lol). Had one turnover at the end trying to thread a pass through the lane. Missed my only dunk attempt. :'( posted up a guy and dropstepped on him but was too far away and back ironed it. Honestly I was surprised I got up loke that off a dropstep, gotta be the adrenaline.

Overall, we knocked some rust off, played good team ball and got the W. Im content.

Good effort on your first game back. 24pts is nothing to sneeze at. Shame about the dunk though.

Yea, our effort was good, good ball movement, team d. I got burnt a few times going for steals when I should have just stayed home on my man. Stupid first game back mistakes. Im actually very happy with the 24pts AND a win. A few years ago I averaged close to 40 per even while being doubled but we had no one that could consistently get their own shot. So much nicer this year lol

And I WILL get that dunk lol! My buddy said my plant was still slow so I know I can find a couple inches once I get that situation figured out. :/

Damn! I'm averaging about 15 atm. Prob could push it upwards of 20 if I wanted to take more shots.

Yep. Get that dunk. I told myself I'd have one by the end of the season. One game left and no dice so far. Haven't had many opportunities but we'll see. If I had your hops I'm sure things would be much easier  ;D

Get those shots up! Our team is pretty loose and we have a couple guys that can fill the basket so if your open, let fly is our mentality lol! Makes us more difficult to guard IMO too, because everyone knows were not hesitant to shoot they can't let up on anyone.

You'll get the dunk man! Just don't throw away easy opportunities LOOKING for the slam. It'll come.

Nice. My team is pretty limited for scoring opportunities. I've never put up a huge amount of shots though so that might be something to work on.

Yeah fingers crossed. When I get an extra 2-3" on the vert it'll come a lot easier too.

You don't need a lot of shots necessarily, just realizing where opportunities are and make the game easier. Of course teammates that can mobe the ball and play smart help immensely.

And hell yea 2-3" would help! It doesn't sound like a lot but it is when you're RIGHT THERE at being consistent with a dunk lol!

I only really take 10-15 shots a game really so could probably afford to take some more anyway. Definitely helps having guys who can move and ball and move off the ball too. Also helps having guys who can give you the ball in the post to not only score but create opportunities for others. Anyway, enough of my whinging.

Exactly. I would think with another couple of inches I could have had 4-5 dunks this season quite easily. Once I hit 40 like you then lookout!

Luckily its easier to gain vert than grow lol!

We play again tonight, some new team so no real plan going in against them. We'll be winging it lol!

Warmed up and stretched real well last night. Right ankle was a little tight so I grabbed some of the woman's resistance bands and rehabbed a little while watching TV. Feels quite a bit better this morning.

Well, we lost tonight. By 2 points. To a team we should have destroyed. We didn't play badly but we were missing our two posts so guess who had to guard the 6'5" guy? Yea, me lol! Quick breakdown of the game (and my performance lol), first half sucked. Down 7 at the half, it was like our shooting woes carried over to this game. We couldn't by a bucket for the first 15 minutes. First play of the game tall guy tries to post me and shoot a little turn around jumper. No dice, I literally snatched it away in mid air  ;D I ended up blocking his stuff multiple times, he just didn't use his body well at all. End of the half I got two layups to go, a 15 foot pullup j and a 3 (finally! lol) so I was feeling good going into the second. Second half I literally TORCHED this poor dude, dropped 32 points in the second. Felt like old me lol! Went 6-7 on threes and 7-10 from 2. We got up 11 with and they made a little run. Ended up being tied with 37 seconds left, their ball. My guy tries to go backdoor and they toss him a lob pass...I go up and intercept it like I'm playing cornerback and he grabs my left arm and literally pulls me out of the air, I lose the ball and they get a backdoor layup. Our PG's last second floater rolled out. Ballgame 92-90 :raging:. I'm pissed about the non call and the L but I am pleased that my game started to heat up. We get our posts back and play like that we can do some serious damage.

So after week 1 were 1-1, next week we play the consensus top 2 teams so that will be a good measuring stick. Can't wait to get back in the gym Saturday and lift some!!!

Final statline for me: 17-27FG, 41 pts, 11 rebounds, 4 assists, 5 blocks 1 steal and 2 turnovers. the scoring was nice but I'm pretty happy with the blocks and boards considering how under sized I was height wise.

The most I have ever scored in an official game in my life was 5 points.

Some people just arent scorers. Shrug. To me that's the part of the game that comes most natural. I don't really count rec league cames as official, competition is to up and down IMO. Hell a few years ago I averaged close to 40 per and had a high of 70-something (we actually lost that game by 3 -___- one of their guys was bucket for bucket with me lol). I did have a couple 20+ pt games in high school including one where I had 14 in the first quarter, then got ejected in the second quarter. :(

I just never take shots. If I see a teammate open I ALWAYS pass him the ball. The reverse is never true, however. They all play for themselves and want to take as many (bad) shots as possible. That's why I stopped playing. That was really retarded.

Yea getting froze out sucks. I have a lot of faith in my teammates and they return it back. Hell, I keep telling our PG to shoot more, he's such a natural point he'll pass up shots I know he can make. Lol! I try not to take to many 'bad' shots (I think bad shots for some aren't necessarily a bad shot for others) but I can look back at last night and find two I could have passed up. One was a deeeeep 3 attempt (that was short) in the middle of the second when I just wasn't missing. It was a heat check of sorts but I know we could have gotten a better shot. The other was an ill-advised, off balance turn around 17 footer in the first half over the big guy...not to sure wtf I was thinking there. Good thing is our PG and I are good friends and he let me know it was dumb lol! Were pretty good at letting the other know when they're slipping.
