Oh yeah, I didn't charge my camera, so I don't have footage of my lifts today. I will film next time!

I went into todays workout being nearly as sore as I was yesterday, in all of the same places, pretty pleased with how I did considering that. I should adapt to the lifting soon, and not get so sore, I'm sure the excessive plyos also had an effect on DOMS.

I looked at my legs after the RDLs and noticed that my shins and knees were scraped, I felt that during the lift though. I know its normal to scrape shins with RDLs, but does it mean I'm doing something if my knees are scraped too?

Erectors are really sore today, hamstrings, a little bit, glutes, not really, upper/mid back is sore, nothing else is sore though.

I won't have time to go to the track for tempo today, studying for finals which start tomorrow. I may squeze in some circuits if I find time though.

Circuit

Barbell Curl
Power Clean
Front Squat
Push Press
Bent Over Row
Romanian Deadlift
6 reps per exercise, 3 sets, 2:00 rest
I used 30kg for this

Swam for ~10 minutes. Anyone have some ideas for drills you can do in a pool about sternum deep?

Then I sat in the steam room for a bit at 40 Celsius/104 Fahrenheit for about 5 minutes.

Cooldown

Had a protein shake, contrast shower and did stretched off.

Just in case anyone missed this, all weights posted in my log are KILOGRAMS unless otherwise stated.

Friday June 5, 2009

Warmed Up, raining outside so I couldn't do Andrew's one.

Plyos

Unilateral RFI Pogo Hops - 3x25
RA Ankle Pops - 3x10
I like 3x10 more than 5x5 for the ankle pops

Weights

Squat
Bar x Whathever
40 x 6 (88 lbs)
60 x 5 (132 lbs)
80 x 3 (176 lbs)
90 x 6, 6 (198 lbs)
Sweet, back at all-time PR levels, I've done this for 6 before, but with inconsistent depth, and I only did it for one set.

Iso Unilateral RDL
BW x 10 seconds
Bar x 10 seconds
40 x 10 seconds (88 lbs)
50 x 10 seconds (110 lbs)
Sweet, going up slowly on these, I think I have 60 in me already, but I'll play it safe.

Pullups
BW x 10
+25 x 4 (55 lbs)
Switch to chinups
+25 x 4 (55 lbs)
Will stick with this weight next time, should be in an ok rep range next workout. The pullups tied my PR.

Skipped pressing exercise due to lack of time

Ab Bench ISO
+25 x 13 seconds, 10 seconds (55 lbs)
It's really awkward with the huge 25kg plate. Should I switch to the OI variation now, or just hold a lighter weight behind my head, rather than on my chest?

Hey Joe,

I was looking through your journal and I don't think I saw any sprints.  Do you do speedwork or is it mainly plyos and weights?

i'll briefly answer for him since he's a sleeping brit..

he just got done with his track season for h.s., he did lots of sprinting during then.. it basically ended as he started this log.. all he's done since then is tempo to get in better shape.

peace man, pretty sure thats 100% accurate... hehe

Yup, that's pretty much correct Andrew. I may add in some sprints later into the summer, but for now I'll stick to what I've got posted here.

Saturday June 6, 2009

Circuit Conditioning

Bent Over Row
Romanian Deadlift
Hang Power Clean
Front Squat
Push Press
All x 6 @ 35kg
3 Sets, 2:00 rest

I dropped the curls and upped both the reps and weight. I think it's better without the curls, it allows me to use more weight more quickly for more volume without them.

Edit: Also messed with the order of exercises, I like the new order more too.

My squats and RDLs from Friday, any form critiques are welcome.

Edit: The aspect ratio in that video is messed up.

Edit 2: Remembered you can embed videos.
