6/24/2017

Ran the race today. I was on the second section which was 4.4 miles, generally all slightly downhill. There were 3 teams total from my company, and the first team came and went, then 3 minutes later the next team, then 3-4 minutes later my team handed off to me. I ended up running 4.43 miles in 33:57 for a 7:40 pace. I did pass a lot of people on the trail, so I think I made up a decent amount of ground. My team ended up winning among our three teams so that was pretty sweet.  Overall I was pleased with the way I ran considering I hadn't really ran in about 2 weeks, and I've never run that distance before. I think a lot of it was mind over matter though...there were a couple points where I wanted to slow my pace, but I didn't really let it happen. Each mile was a little slower than the next, but I tried to finish strong.

Mile 1: 7:24
Mile 2: 7:46
Mile 3: 7:47
Mile 4: 7:43
Last 0.4: 3:06 (7:18 pace)

My goal was around 8:00/mile pace, so I was able to beat that fairly easily. Weather was perfect considering it's the middle of June....low 60s while I ran.

hah awesome!!  :highfive: good stuff.

Couple Updates

Been about a week since an update. Had to go to Omaha over the weekend for my cousin's wedding. Lifted Thursday before I left and again today. I am off this week leading up to the biggest volleyball tournament that I go to every year (http://www.waupacaboatride.com). Today was my last day lifting before the tournament.

June 29, 2017

Overhead Press: 3x5 @ 65 lbs.
Squat: 2x5, 1x10 @ 160 lbs
Skipped chin-ups (will explain below)

July 3, 2017

Bench Press: 2x5, 1x7 @ 112.5 lbs
Deadlift: 3x5 @ 140 lbs
Barbell Row: skipped

The reason I skipped chin-ups and barbell row and went lighter on overhead press was because I have some weird upper back strain. It feels like it is my rhomboid major muscle on the right side. It is weird because I generally only notice is later in the day. I thought I might notice it more while benching today, but I didn't. Regardless, I could still feel a weird pull/tingle while I was lifting and decided to skip rows. I don't want to chance anything with the volleyball tournament coming up. The other weird thing is that I don't notice it at all when playing volleyball when I would think that I would notice it a lot. Bodies are weird.

Anyway, no more lifting until next week. Going to make sure my back stays fairly healthy as well as everything else so I can go all out Friday and Saturday.

Still here. Had some athletic/life obligations that I had to deal with the last two weeks and training didn't necessarily fit into them. Basically been playing a ton of volleyball and had some family shit (wedding).

7/18/2017

Overhead Press: 3x5 @ 75lbs
Squat: 3x5 @ 170 lbs
Chin-ups: 3x5

Didn't push anything too hard but I think that will change next session. I felt pretty good, yet I am really sore today. More vball tonight.

7/22/2017

Bench: 3x5 @ 115 lbs
Row: 3x5 @ 95 lbs
Squat 3x5 @ 175 lbs

7/25/2017

Press: 3x5 @ 77.5 lbs
Deadlift: 3x5 @ 150 lbs

Currently feeling a little soreness in my left knee. Not enough to really be concerned about but noticeable. Achilles was super sore Saturday (7/22) due to playing indoor volleyball the night before. The indoor courts are definitely harder on my body...grass is preferred. Going to have to start adjusting soon because indoor will be here again in another 1-1.5 months.

LOL still here. I'm just bad about logging. Still lifting, and I'm in between volleyball seasons right now so I can keep a pretty regular schedule. Going to start working in some more explosive running/jumping too....long distance isn't really for me though I do kinda enjoy it on occasion.

Bench 3x5 @ 127.5 lbs
Row 2x5, 1x7 @ 102.5 lbs
Deadlift 2x5, 1x10 @ 170 lbs

Going to try to get a decent sleep in tonight. Been sleeping like 6-6.5 hrs per night lately...wanting to get ~7.5-8 tonight. Then get some runs in tomorrow night...

nice! curious to see how the interval sprint sessions go, i think you'll respond well to them. just remember don't max your speed out.

also ya that ~6 hours per night probably isn't good.. takes a toll over time.

pc!
