Thanks for the input LBSS.

What generally is the solution to this issue? I am kinda unsure of the cause?

On the SVJ try to really stretch UP with your arms extended overhead and then load and jump. You have a very small amplitude of movement the way you're doing it right now.

Thanks Raptor, do you vote it is mostly technique?

I have noticed what LBSS has but am still unsure if it is a problem technique, strength, mobility or structure?

In the particular case of the SVJ I'd say it's just strictly technique. Like you haven't thought to try that yourself and you're hearing about it now.

Try it and see what happens.

In all the other situations it's a matter of strength.

raptor and i are talking about different things. not sure about Rx, guess i'd start with strengthening/activating hip external rotators. so clamshells, x-band walks, squats with a band around your knees, that kind of thing.
Muscles are nonsensical they have nothing to do with this bullshit.

^^^^ Thanks man.

My 1rm has been 250#'s my whole adult life with little or no real work. Doesn't seem to matter if I weigh 180 or 160.

My squat has been a constant struggle on the other hand.  :(

Been on vacation, so now real workouts to log

I did some jumps on Monday.

Tonight's work.......

8/15/13 Thursday BW=158.8

squat 5x185, 2x225, 1x245, 1x255, 3x250, 2x240, 8x225
GHR BW 3x15
calf raise 170# 3x20
pull up BW 20, 15, 10

Bit of a struggle to get back into things.

8/26/13 Monday BW=158.4

jump squat 5x45, 5x95
squat 3x185, 1x225, 1x245, 5x225, 5x235, 5x245, 4x245
barbell lunge 5x155, 5x170, 5x190
calf raise 180# 3x20

Better tonight.

My current schedule dictates that I work out later in the evening (after 8pm). This is probably helping fuel my recent regression.

I hope.
