Soreness-
Left big toe  :raging:
I didn't log it in my journal but a few weeks ago I was messing around playing basketball and doing a few max effort single leg jumps (left leg). Out of nowhere I went for an attempt and immediately after my toe was sore. It got better within a day or two and has been relatively normal since but at the start of this week when I went back to work it got aggravated again (wearing work shoes). Today it was soo painful. How the fuck am I supposed to lose weight, train or do anything physically productive when I can't even fkn walk...shiiit!

I think I'm just going to rest for a few weeks. Last year I was injured throughout the entire rugby season because I always tried to push through the pain and train and come back as fast as possible, which did nothing but make the injury worse or lead to another one. Fkn hell :raging:

Edit- Rugby pre-season starts tomorrow on 20th Jan but I've messaged the coach and said I won't be at training for a few weeks but will play this season.

damn that sucks man :/

sounds kinda like turf toe?? if so, turf toe takes a while to heal. i've had it a few times. :/

Yes it could be. I'm not taking any chances.

I had my YOU session for the Army today and progressed to the next stage. Most of the day consisted of filling out forms for security clearances and medical questionnaires. I also sat a 30 minute aptitude test (easy) and a 20 minute math test, which I passed easily. After that I met with a 'career's coach' for about 20 minutes and he just went over the choices I'd made (Infantry & Artillery Light Gunner) and gave me some documents to read and talked about the next stages of the recruitment process. Apparently there's an 18+ month backlog for the Air Force but they are recruiting for Army Reserves so it could take anywhere between weeks and months to get enlisted.

I scored 70/75 in the aptitude test and 25/27 in the math test.

I've applied for 3 full time jobs this year but I haven't heard back from any of them.

It's been hot in my city!

I've been restraining myself from training due to my toe. It's soo hard. All I've been doing is hundreds of push ups and sit ups in preparation for my initial army fitness test. I've been drinking less alcohol and eating less trying to lose weight.

is the toe improving tho? hopefully it is. that's a rough one. flares up occasionally too for me, but not sideline level.

also that's good news about the military tests! sucks about the backlog tho.

It comes and goes. Overall it has improved but I've become too restless doing nothing. Had a light training session today.

I got a call from the Defense Force today they want me to come in on the 13th of February for a medical examination and psychological test. If I pass that I'll be enlisted then off to boot camp.

Assessment Day-
The Assessment Day started at 7:45 this morning.

Medical-
First I had a medical where I had a blood test done and a physical examination where I was stripped down to my underwear and had a series of tests done including a testicular check. I had to give a full history of all my medical conditions and hospital visits, which I did. They are now chasing up hospital reports from when I broke my leg and my arm when I was 11 and 14 respectively. I had a hearing test, which I passed. I passed the eyesight test but unfortunately I failed the visual test for colors. I've got color perception problems (mild form of color blindness, which apparently affects 8% of the male population. As a result I failed my medical test for infantry but was able to continue with the recruiting process because my second preference was combat working as an Artillery Gunner.

Psychological-
They gave me a questionnaire to fill out, which had about 30 questions on it where you tick either 'Yes' or 'No'. It was straightforward questions asking about mental state, family mental health history, childhood etc. I got asked about why I wanted to join the army and my motivation. I actually applied for the Army back in 2010 but I withdrew my application at the time so I got questioned about it. I said that at the time I was studying at uni and also re-thought the prospect of being sent away interstate and committing 4 years of my life. But then the psychologist said "but there was another reason wasn't there?". So I answered truthfully and just explained that at the time I was facing court for a few charges  and had to go into very specific detail about all the charges and what was going on in my life at the time. I answered them honestly and went through all the details and took full accountability for everything and explained that I had no convictions and had to explain why I thought that was etc. It's not really a conversation that I like having and I thought I was going to get rejected. However, the Psychologist passed me and said that it would now be up to the Defense Interviewer to see whether I'd be accepted or not.

Defense Interview-
It was a great interview. I'm not a great interviewer as I get nervous and wear my heart on my sleeve but it was easy to build rapport with the interviewer. The psychologist spoke to the interviewer prior to my interview and they also had all my background history but the interviewer congratulated me on my integrity. The rest was easy just asking about myself, why I wanted to join, my knowledge about the role. After the interview finished I had to sit outside for 5 minutes and I got called back in and he asked me how I went and what I could do to improve, which I did. Then he congratulated me and said that I had been accepted as an Artillery Gunner and as soon as I pass the Fitness Test I'll be enlisted.

Cliffs-
I got accepted  :D

Great Job Man!!!
Warm up drills
   - a walk, b skip quick powerful switch (heel to hams focus), a runs, dribbles small to big to run, straight leg to runs (force, reflex, go up/forward). force to hit the ground before it hits the ground knee/hip is at 90 degrees.
   - acceleration: low heel recovery, shin angle low, drive legs back before hitting the ground and drive thighs/knee forward not up
-------------------------------------------------------------
Measuring reminder:
5 toe to heel steps = 148cm

Thanks brothers! The
I've got a rugby league tournament this weekend. I got selected to play for the 'Australia' team for the All Stars comp this weekend for South Australia against the Indigenous/Pacific Island South Australia team.

We had training today.
Sprints-
30mx5
50mx5
The rest was drills and setting up plays. I don't use a GPS but no doubt I would've covered at least 3 kilometres in jogging and intermittent sprints since the drills and plays went for 2 hours. The comps on this Sunday.
