rate of perceived exertion, usually on a scale of 1-10. so, how hard is it for you, with 10 being true max effort, to run 13.5-14.5?

Probably around 7.5-8 mainly due to the 2 minute recoveries.

TIME TO PULL MY HEAD IN AND START EATING/TRAINING/ABSTAINING FROM ALCOHOL!!!

This week was a waste training wise. I'm fkn sick of drinking alcohol and feeling like shit the next morning as well. I'm thinking of deactivating my social media (facebook) as well because I just waste too much time on it. As dumb as it sounds I think it also gives me a bit of anxiety. I just want to start living a simpler life free of drama and just get back to the essentials.

I feel you mate. I'm in a similar position where I feel like I'm waiting so much time on shit that doesn't matter. I'm also very bad at dealing with injuries so have been drinking more than usual and eating worse than usual the last 2 months. Not a good combo.

Now that you've put it out there though, just got and do it. Get off the grog and start putting in the work. You can definitely do it.

Yep definitely. This journal is a motivation for me now that I've put it out there. I'm going out tonight but I've nominated myself as the designated driver so I'll be on the soft drinks tonight.

Squat-
60x5
97.5x5x3

Just a light workout today as I wasn't in the mood to do much.

Day 1- No Alcohol
I completed day 1. It's a Saturday night here and I had a Cook Islands festival event that I was attending. Usually when I go to these events I always drink but I want to quit drinking so I nominated myself as the designated driver for the night. The night was really good and I ate a lot of food and stuck to coca cola and water. Surprisingly I didn't even feel tempted to drink and spent the night walking around mingling with a lot of people that I only see occasionally at events like this. It was a good night.

I've also been thinking of playing street ball again on Sunday evenings. 7 years ago (time is going so fast) I had a really strong core of good friends and we would all play street ball on Sunday and then go out for dinner and chill at someone's house until around 11pm as we had college/work the next day. There would always be at least 6 of us and on the courts we played there was always anywhere between 10-30 other players ready to ball.  Unfortunately life, other commitments, people moving away etc. ended this but I still have a couple of friends from the group who play every Sunday. Apart from playing basketball it was just the social aspect of it as well having fun and being active without having to resort to alcohol or drugs. These days it seems like whenever friends want to catch up it's always to drink. Work, family, and even the location of where I live are also other huge reasons why my social life has been negatively effected. I guess that's just the way western society is. You get older and have a partner and a couple of close friends and than dozens of 'friends' who are more like acquaintances who you bump into and say "we should catch up soon" but than never do. Even if I do catch up with these people usually I'll quickly lose contact as we generally have different friendship circles so I just don't have the time to commit!

Just my late night thoughts. Peace.

Day 2 Drinking Log-
Failed. I wanted to play basketball today so I made a few calls but unfortunately nobody was keen to play. My friend Rainer is probably the most dedicated out of my old friends that used to play but he said that he's got a knee injury atm. So I ended up just catching up with a mate and getting on the piss (10 beers).

Day 2 failed but tomorrow is Monday so I'll aim just to go sober throughout the week and hopefully until next weekend at least.
