why are you playing at all? serious question.

I was selected a couple of months ago to play for South Australia in a tournament on the 27th October 2018. I was selected to play for South Australia in the Affiliated States Comp earlier this year but had to pull out due to injury. That's why I would like to play this weekend!

Going forward it's the same reason as what I've said before- I LOVE PLAYING RUGBY LEAGUE!

Physio-
Had a follow up session with the physio for my hamstring. It went well he just got me to do some stretches and perform a few strength tests and massaged it for about 2-5 minutes. Some parts of it are still tender in certain spots, which surprised him so he took it easier.

Instead of running 100's at 50-60% he gave me a new running program, which he wants done 2-3x a week.
4x30m (60%)
4x100m runs 80-90%

As far as the rugby league game this week he said the same as LBSS- not worth risking it especially as he gave a conservative approach due to past issues with hamstring tears. So I'm going to follow the advice and not play. After setting some gym PR's earlier this year 2018 has been such a fkn disappointment. For now I'm just going to try and get healthy and remain injury free.

Track-
30mx4 @ 85%
100mx3 @ 80% speed with walk back recovery.

Acceleration felt good but I was focused on not pushing it too hard, particularly with the first couple of steps.

Soreness-
Achilles. I'm going to purchase a new pair of shoes within the next couple of weeks. The shoes I wear (apart from work and rugby league) are always basketball shoes. I'm going to find a casual shoe that's lighter and lower cut, which should hopefully assist my achilles tendons.

Soreness-
Achilles. My right one feels okay but my left one is hurting bad! My next visit with the physio is in a fortnight so I'll get the physio to look at my achilles. From a google search my symptoms definitely match the insertional achilles tendinopathy as I don't have any calf pain it's just all concentrated within the heels.

I bought a new pair of shoes today- Nike Football mercurial superflyx 6 indoor. When I was at the shops for the same price I could've bought the Nike KD Trey 5 VI and it was tempting but the mercurial's were lighter and lower cut- better for the achilles. I'll save my basketball shoes for the weekend / days where I don't have to walk much.

Squat-
60x5
80x5x3

Romanian Deadlift-
60x3
80x5x3

Nordic Hamstring Exercise-
8x2

Chin Ups-
11x2

Assisted Pull Ups (12kg)-
11x1
13x1

Treadmill-
150 calories @ 4.5km/h.

I wanted to go to the track but I didn't want to damage my achilles more so I resisted. I'm planning to go to the track again in 2-3 days pending my left achilles.

Soreness-
Achilles.

I'm just resting this week. I want to lose 15kg (33lbs) and just get lean again. I've just been focussing on eating healthily because you don't need to be fit to diet. Hopefully I'll recover soon.

PS- I made a mistake with my shoe purchase. I shoud've just bought some plain Nike trainers instead of being seduced by the looks of the indoor football boots, which are tight as fuck. I already wore them so I can't get a refund. I'll still use them for the gym though.

smart move on resting this week. let the achilles recover and hopefully adapt/get stronger.

sucks about the shoes too. also hate when i make a shoe mistake. you ordered them online i imagine?

tighten up that diet, but make sure you still get enough calories/nutrients to recover.

pc!

I used to buy all my shoes online when the Australian dollar bought $1.10 US. However, the exchange rate has fallen so now $1 Australian dollar is only worth $0.72 US. Add in shipping costs and there's no longer an advantage of purchasing shoes online.

I bought the shoes in store. I got mesmorised first by the basketball shoes but then had to remind myself that I was avoiding them. I barely looked at the trainers coz none caught my eye and I saw the Nike Mercurial indoor football shoes and thought they would make a neat looking casual shoe and would be easier on the achilles compared to basketball shoes. I think I thought wrong haha.

On training days I'll eat a surplus but for all other days (which is a lot lately) I'll be sticking to a caloric deficit.

Low motivation atm.

Exercise Bike-
150 calories.

Squat-
60x5
90x5x3

Not doing much. Achilles has gotten better. Not getting out of bed sore everyday, which is good. Sometimes just the little things like walking around pain free are blessings.

^^ that sounds pretty motivating tho IMHO :ninja: :ninja: :ninja: :highfive:

one quote i really loved from an elite runner I know of, "be gentle with yourself". that def stuck with me.. was basically saying, it's fine not to beat yourself up, let the fitness/progress come slowly, safely, etc.

Yeah I still can't even bench though. My shoulder has the flexibility and it's much better then before when I couldn't even do chin ups or pull ups without pain but bench it just puts too much pressure on the right shoulder- even db's. I haven't been doing as much track as I'd like because the weather is fkn cooked. Last night we had a massive storm with wind literally blowing roofs off of houses. Usually at this time it's scorching hot with minimal rain. If I was more motivated I'd run rain, hail or shine but I'm not.
