^^^ As far as what to do next it all depends on the equipment and space available to you...

To be honest dunking a basketball seems to be pretty much the quintessential athletic bucket list goal for every American male under 6'6.  When I tell people I don't play that much basketball but really enjoy dunking they are always shocked and look at me with this incredulous look and say something like "wait you can dunk on 10 feet?".  If they see my Instagram they are amazingly impressed, I swear I could lie and say "I ran a sub 10 100m wanna see a video" and they would be  less shocked and impressed and probably be like "nah I'll take you word for it"... But dunk videos impress people to no end.  I was just at this conference with all these top psychiatrists in the world and one of the postdocs followed me on some social media and showed her PI and he pulled up my video on his phone and went around the table at the banquet showing everyone like "watch this this is so amazing - he did that". Lol.  The guy is like 60 years old and was like "I've always wanted to be able to do that could you train me to?"   It was hilarious, never thought dunk videos would be a career move!

There's is something about dunking that is so relatable... No timing or advanced understanding of sports needed to appreciate it... And it's so accessible - I mean almost everyone has played basketball once and stood under the rim and appreciated how far up it is and how cool it would be to jump up and throw the ball directly in the goal...

So you nailed the best one now... And it's cool because it's a universal goal and actually pretty hard for the average guy to achieve and requires you to become a decent athlete especially if your not that tall... Other popular goals just don't have all those factors...  Dunking is by far the most requested athletic training achievement average guys ask me to learn... The only other popular ones I can think of are...

1) Do a standing backflip.   Looks cool.  Definitely something cool to have on video.  Impressive.  But really easy.  I could teach you how to do it in maximum three one hour training sessions though... Requires baseline athletic ability and someone to teach you safely or a massive set of balls but that's it.

2) Bench press three plates.  Semi-relatable and impressive to most people and not easy that to achieve but doesn't require to become a functional athlete or give any carryover to athleticism - in fact focusing just this will probably make you a worse athlete...

3) Run a marathon, run a a mile under 5, bike ride ridiculously long...  Hard but really not my cup of tea and just running or biking a distance doesn't require much but perseverance... I would love to be able to say I run a mile in 4 minutes something... But not bad enough to train for it, at least not right now.  I feel this is may be a goal in my future though... No longer than a mile but it would be cool especially cause I'm not blessed at it and I mean it sounds soooo easy... I ran 800s in practice at 2:10 when I was in peak shape (useless for training) so how much harder can it be to do another 8 in 2:50... Obviously hard enough that I can't lol... But it sounds easy...

4) Run a 40 in sub 5 legit.  Hard and great to train for and achievable but not appreciated because 40 times are so poorly timed.  Also uniquely an American goal lol.

5) Other cool calisthenics - amazing handstands, 1 arm pull-ups, etc.  Cool but you can always achieve these on the side as part of your training for something else...

Am I missing something?  Anyone else have an ideas?  That's all I can think of.  Beyond that you might have to invent something less universal that I think is cool or some small subset of people appreciate but it won't have the universal appeal... I think something involving speed power and endurance would be awesome and I have a million tests and goals I can give you but they are not directly comparable and understandable... A good Olympic weightlifting total or proficient performance in some decathlon events appeal to me... But it does get hard...  Now that I am retired for the most part it's pretty clear I don't know a goal as cool as dunking otherwise I could be doing it... I don't think I'm ever gonna run sub 10 and while I do think I could run 10.4 or even 10.3 or 10.2 with what I know now I just can't justify putting in that much work for a few tenths but no broken milestone... Track is unforgiving... My buddy Ahmad ran 10.0 and was pac 10 champ in the 100m... He is only 26 and he just gave up because it's too hard to get sponsorship and survive and he has a kid so he took a job at geico..  Sucks that Americans prefer watching people beat each other up and cause brain damage more than watching someone run close to sub 10...

Il keep thinking of goals for you... Always fun to train a goal oriented guy - if I can think of any goal that would be cool and get you motivated I'll let you know... We should work out for our health but it's 100x easier w a goal in mind...

Well... Now I can hardly dunk.  It's funny how switching sports has such a major effect on my body.  I took two weeks off and my flag football league started up...  Been playing for two weeks now and each time I have major hip soreness for about 4 days after the game.  Football makes me feel faster but absolutely wrecks me for jumping... Now I know what vag was talking about when he said his quads were perpetually dead although this is all hip flexor fatigue...  Football league is far far more fun than basketball - Ryan Hollins plays in our league... He is 7'1 but can't move his hips so not as dangerous as you would think.  I think in another week I'll be adapted to football and able to dunk and play football throughout the week....

Speaking of movement efficiency - there really is no better workout.  I only play defense for my team but two games a week of nonstop turning, cutting, reacting, diving, etc really does test your ability.  They even have a drone that films us.  Last week we were up a score w not much time and I got the pick six that sealed the game... Didn't realize how many lateral moves running it back took - you can see skater jumps, mini bounds, all kinds of movement on one play that I never realized take place.   Now I don't feel as bad for being sore...

ryan hollins? what the hell is he doing playing flag football, isn't he trying to get a contract right now? seems like a stupid knee or ankle injury waiting to happen. or hand: a buddy of mine broke the hell out of his finger grabbing a flag last year.
Muscles are nonsensical they have nothing to do with this bullshit.

To be fair he is in his 30s and had to suffer through some ten day contracts last year... The only players who play into their 30s are those who are really good, or just have the ball is life obsession w the game... He is neither.  I would get burnt out of moving around and playing the same game for that long too...

However, their a lot of examples that would drive you crazy.  Think about how much you worked to dunk - other athletes can't stay away either.  I have played w Davante Adams (packers) he plays a lot of basketball and puts a ridiculous amount of stress on his body doing ME rdlvj.  He trains dunking and jumping just as much as anyone in the offseason... Not the smart thing as far as protecting his nfl meal ticket but something that is more common than you would think.

This flag league is kind of a Los Angeles institution - guys know guys forever and a lot of pro athletes come play and talk trash...  Athletes are not exactly good at staying away from competitive sports...

Ryan Hollins is TALL

Well...  I really haven't trained in earnest for about two months...

It's been sick.  Leg injury. Grant due.  Then massive car accident and dislocated shoulder...  Only real activity been flag football...

But for now I got no car and 8 weeks till my birthday... Let's see what I can do as far as jumps in that time.  Tested my jump for the first time in awhile at standing 32".  Not great when I was around 45" running but I was never great at standing jumps and running seems to scary at 225 vs 210.  Also, hard to train w flag football... I love it and it's absolutely the most fun sport in the world... Far better than basketball - if football had a dunking component it would be the best thing ever... All the practice one has to do to maintain passable basketball skill at a competitive level (shooting, dribbling, etc) is almost non-existent in football... You can not play for a year and your hips are sore the next day and you might drop 2/10 vs 1/10 balls but if you are fast and strong you are still fine... Most of the improvement is really teamwork and strategy which is really fun...

That said - it might be flag but it's brutal on the body and does interfere w training.  Double headers every weekend mean sore groin and hips and if you block it means sore triceps and shoulders... Not to mention the bumps and bruises from hitting the floor...

Only one more week in this season.  We were the champions last year (we were on tv lol) and the falloff has been remarkable.  Everyone got busy/sick/injured and we just have never fielded a full squad... Championship hangover - we lost our hunger.  It's ok though - not making the playoffs sucks.  Finally got last years playoffs and champions player footage.  I run really fast in straight lines.  I also can best entire teams around the edge when I run counterclockwise...  Running clockwise... Not so much.  It's embarrassing to see how awkward I turn that way - running track really does leave you with an ability to run turns in one direction only... It's so bad that not only am I slower running around the left edge but I feel like I can't accelerate or I'll get hurt...

Anyway, there won't be drone footage cause we won't make the playoffs this season but I'll use that free time to train and it sure is nice to have footage to see all the things we do wrong...

Hahahahaha.  Good one.  I can turn left... As long as I run straight afterward... But actually running along a circle that turns clockwise just makes me feel wrong... I realized from watching FPs videos of how he runs that that is how I feel when turning left... I guess it really takes a lot of work on the track to accelerate correctly into a bend... Having never run bends the other way makes this quite a challenge...

Lol. I just love that movie.

I actually played a season of American football back when I was 15 as a WR and cornerback. I had no problem running routes and looking over my left shoulder. Looking over the right shoulder was extremely foreign and just felt alien to me. Not sure if it's a dominant hand thing but just weird.

That's pretty standard.  It's why everyone wants to do the post from the right side and corner on the left...

But when you play a lot of corner you start to realize these tendencies and now as receiver I try and run my routes opposite because it's actually harder on the defense... I play inside technique corner on the right side because I give a receiver the sideline and try and make plays on it knowing people don't like the sideline over right shoulder post corner route... Then I use my speed to take away all posts and drags and protect the middle...  As a DB you have even less time to look back to the quarterback but I'm comfortable enough running after a post that I just need a glance to get a pick....

However... Put me on the other side and I am always a step slow on the post...  That's the thing... It's hard to catch the post with your left hand as your back hand --- but it's also infinitely harder to defend...

That's cool if you can exploit it. Unfortunately I didn't play long enough to get to the intricacies of the game. It was the only sport however, that I did a full pre-season for and I loved that aspect of it. Was probably the fittest I ever was in my youth too.

damn i didn't know about the car accident. if you posted about it, sorry didn't see it.

man flag football looks fun. back when I was growing up around here, they actually didn't have tackle leagues .. and I didn't want to play flag football. Looking back, i'd be the complete opposite now. Flag football looks fun. I also don't see as many street/tackle football games anymore .. I see grown men playing flag football alot. There definitely seems to be a massive shift from violent/tackle football to fun-as-fuck-safer flag football.

that drone footage is pretty sick.

Drone footage is a game changer.  Being able to see how you look and how the whole team looks on film is really amazing... I find myself being pleasantly surprised by how fast I look but disappointed by my coverage and positioning...  Coverage looks soooo easy when your watching on tv...  Getting to see yourself failing at things fans love to complain about like "just throw to that open guy" is really awesome...

Flag football is great.  It is frustrating at first to learn how to pull flags and some of the zero contact leagues are really annoying but this league is a good blend...  Allows pass blocking which is a necessary part of the game, doesn't allow qb to rush (a must for good flag football) and allows you to grab a guy softly when you go for a flag pull, but doesn't allow lead blocking or hitting or any of the things that make football so dangerous...

It's just such a fun game and I love that it doesn't require that tremendous dedication to maintaining a skillset that basketball does... I mean maybe I'm just an extreme football natural or an extreme basketball unnatural but I find if I dont play bball for awhile I am basically unable to dribble or shoot to the degree that I am an extreme offensive liability while if I don't play football I can still catch, throw, cover, etc.   I did once play bball with a guy that was stroking open threes after our training camp and I know he hadn't touched a basketball for at least two weeks so maybe everyone different...

They actually have a league AF7L that I was invited to join... It's a no-pad 7-man tackle football league and it bills itself as safer than the NFL.  I kinda agree that taking off the helmets can make the game safer... That said... Still not safe enough for me...

I actually destroyed my ankle playing flag...it's a serious game. Out next season begins on September 11th for my team, but I'm not going to play until I feel comfortable making hard cuts. I may play in the Spring season. http://www.northfieldfootball.com/This is our league...quite competitive.
