Harbour Club Serpentine Last Friday of the Month 5k -> 26th Jan, i.e. next Friday.

If I like it + the organisation, etc., I might try to run it monthly rather than doing Parkruns, since this is more convenient and on a nicer course.

I think that's it for now. Need to build up more fitness before I'll feel like I'm actually racing at 10k or longer.

Unofficial 5k time of 20:46.6. Race recap here: http://www.adarq.org/progress-journals-experimental-routines/warpspeed-to-the-new-scenario/msg138860/#msg138860

Official results: https://www.serpentine.org.uk/rdb/showrace.php?race=12450

Official time is 20:40, sick.

Just signed up for the next iteration of this race on 23/03. Will be aiming for sub 20:00.

oooh nice!!!

adarq.org racing weekend:

- 2018/03/23: joe/5k
- 2018/03/24: adarqui/half

anyone else racing on the 23rd/24th? :D 8) :ibrunning: :ninja: :highfive:

Part one of this weekend went well! Watch said I hit 19:13 for the race today!!!  :personal-record: :personal-record: :personal-record:

Official time is 19:16, but I'm personally going with my watch's 19:13, because I stopped it only after I had to stand still in the final corral. After stopping I still had to wait for a few people in front of me to get checked off before they got to me. Annoying system!!! Didn't affect me last time since I wasn't finishing with anyone else, but when it's all clogged up like the finish today it messes with things a bit. Anyway, still a sick PR!

19:13 it is.

won't last too long tho, 18:XX coming soon .. after that half!!!!

ya i've had some weird finishes too, especially when it's a dual race (5k/10k) or they do the kids mile before the 5k finishes etc .. running around kids and stuff.

Reason for bump: added more races (general dates) AND a 2019 section.

Most notably: I want to win back2back half marathons. Today they had the Sunrise Half Marathon which had a ton of fast people in it. My time yesterday would have gotten me 4th. By 2019, I need to be able to drop sub1:18 for both halfs, at least, to be in the running for the top spot in each. I think that would be a powerful test of fitness/work capacity. It might also be something that's never been done before (around here). I'll actually announce it to the local run group like 3 months out from those races, just in case anyone wants to try and do both with (against) me.

I like thinking about these things so far away because, it really helps me make sure my training is covering all bases, looking for improvement at all distances, not neglecting anything until it's "close to the race". I'm trying to build elite fitness. This is something an elite runner could do. It also reminds me that even though I have big goals, I need to stay healthy.. I have alot of stuff to do. :D

Did my mini tri yesterday. Race (using that term loosely) result below:

http://my1.raceresult.com/94390/5481/Online%20Certificate%20-%20GTS

Was fun in a weird kind of way. The swim was pretty bad. I got a bit of white line fever and tried to keep up with the first pack. Didn't even realise it at the time but figured it out after about the first 150m when I was spent. Used a fair bit of survival backstroke on the way back in haha.

The ride and run were both weird. Kept well within my limits on both which was kind of disappointing but also didn't have any point of reference given it's my first event and was flying blind as my watch doesn't have a triathlon function.

Either way was fun and I'll definitely do more at the end of the year but the sprint distance this time. Have 6 months to train for it so I can be slightly more competitive next time.

Have 6 months to train for it so I can be slightly more competitive next time.

pretty sick man. now that you have some experience, going to be easier to go hard the next one. could do some road races and such in between, to improve your "race day" prep etc.

confused about the watch tho .. why does it need a triathlon function? sorry, don't know anything about triathlons. i'd imagine it would still give you pace/mileage etc and such?
