Title: Need shoe recommendation
Post by: Dreyth on November 07, 2016, 02:20:52 pm
I have many days where I walk 5-9 miles. Just NYC walking. No hiking trails or whatever. Being walking in chucks. But they beat up fast and I have to replace them once or twice a year.

Would rather pay up to $150 for a solid shoe that will last 2 years or more.

Looking for something that simulates barefoot walking a bit. So no rise, and low to the ground. But durable!

Any recommendations? Some nike frees perhaps? No idea.

Anything Nike that you guys could recommend?

Was thinking nike free 3.0 running shoes. They do have a 4mm drop though (i think it's 4mm).

I use the Frees to squat in. I feel it more. So id assume theyd do fine walking. IF i ran...and i dont lol...Id be in a Free for minimalist stuff or a Vomero or Pegasus if i wanted cushioning.

So yea try a Free. The Free Runs are pretty badass in Flyknit :)

Disclaimers: Im a Nike biased foo and used to work for them lol but still.

The Flex line is an entry level variant to the Free line. Good shoe but, IMO, materials and feel, comfort, etc are better with the Frees. Of course everyones foot is different so I encourage you to try both on.

BTW. Little known fact for all of you: Nike has a 30 day policy on all their shoes... doesnt matter if theyre worn to death or worn once, return them with receipt before 30 days with no questions. Only shoe company i know that does that. Literally can wear them out of the store and for 29 straight days of hell...and return them. No questions asked. As far as I know thats still in place.

Ended up getting myself a pair of Nike Free Flyknit 4.0's on black friday for $39.

My only regret is not getting 3 pairs. I will be wearing these every damn day, they are so comfy and are kind of wide so they fit my feet perfectly!
