We've had this discussion before but there's such a big price difference and the question is, for my level (and even if I get over 2x in the squat) - should I really go with 200$ for the power weight lift shoes or should I go with 90$ for the powerlift trainer shoes? Is it that big of a difference?
I mean if I squatted all my life in running shoes and basketball shoes... does it really matter if I go with this or the other? It should still help, even if the heel is softer for the cheaper shoe.
The question is if it will allow me to squat narrow and get these sucky quads to grow.
Also:
Shoes run true to size . Feel great, look great and preform great . I bought these for ATG squats and just started SMOLOV with them . For people saying the heel is not hard enough and compresses, They must of bought a different shoe! These are a great shoe for oly lifts if one cannot afford the upper $ ones . Highly recommend!
Pros:
good traction, high performance, lightweight, good arch support, durable, comfortable, good cushioning, breathable

You already know what I will say - adi powers all the way. Reasoning is they're a proper lifting shoe, if you pick the right size you will use it for years and years to come.
Chances are with the powerlift trainers if you get them, they'll eventually need replacing in the short to medium term and you'll have to buy another pair or some other shoe.
tldr: buy once, buy good.
-
Yeah I know. If I miss on the size though I'm fucked. If they don't fit me after I pay 200$ that's a disaster.

You can get a real good idea of fitting by googlign around for reviews. People will say they're such and such dress size and how well the wl shoe fit them. If you like be conservative and supposing they're slightly roomier than you prefer, you can wear thicker socks or something. As long as you dont get one that's too tight, i wudnt worry too much about them. My preference is to wear my shoes kinda loose these days after stalking KF/vag conversation a few weeks back.
-
Yeah, of course.
By the way - they say that you should "bake" them in the oven for a while so that they fit your foot form. Not sure about that one.
-
I know you've been asked before, but is that the only shoe you can get from there? There are tonnes of half decent budget oly shoes these days. I would try to find a pair of ristos, pretty cheap and well rated.
-
Nope, just these two. Remember, I don't live in the USA.

Also found these:

btw have you tried using leather dress shoes with a hard heel....
-
I've used boots when squatting... they do help, especially since the boots usually have SOME elevation in the heel and they are pretty sturdy... but they're not enough.
I think I'm going to go with the Adi Powers though.
-
i dunno about boots man.. they probably limit rom at the ankle.
Adi powers is the best choice out of the two options you've given though.

Thanks but let me rephrase it: I will ONLY get those that are on eastbay.com. I can't be bothered to go to customs houses and postal offices and pay 234234832943482349 $ more for shipping and shit like that.

Re choice : I generally agree with entropy, buy once , buy good. My choice would be the good one too. But in case you are broke, if the 110$ make a real difference in your budget, fuck it, get the powerlifts, they will be much better than kobes. Also, from what Lance said, compressing heel starts making a real difference in the high-300 lbs loads. Discussed it with a dude in my gym too, he wears romaleos 2 and squats with perfect form 180kg full / 220kg legit half. He said he doesn't see a real difference from sneakers below 150kg. To further contradict myself and confuse you, i saw a huge difference even in empty bar squats, but i had serious form issues before while you don't. Also, that doesn't mean i wouldn't see that difference with the powerlifts too.
Re size: what entropy said , search a lot of reviews, get the average report on size, whenever i used that getting online shoes i got perfect fit.
Re sources : i told you again that there are some options in german and english ebay. Germany and England are EU members so there is no custom involved. I am not aware of your laws but it should be the same there. Shipping fee is not that much , mine was like 20 euros and it was UK to Greece , Germany to Romania should be cheaper.

but i had serious form issues before while you don't. Also, that doesn't mean i wouldn't see that difference with the powerlifts too.
Well I have no form issues because I squat very wide and with the feet pointed pretty much at 45 degrees outside. Penguin shit basically. That allows me enough hip opening to go lower than parallel.
If I were to squat shoudler width... I would have serious form issues :P
So... that's the main reason why I want oly shoes - to allow me to squat narrow and get those quads growing (and also better form etc).
-
Maybe not for you raptor but I just came across this shoe on ebay - BAF Weightlifting Shoes (http://www.ebay.com/itm/BAF-Weightlifting-Shoes-White-Black-Weight-Lifting-Powerlifting-Crossfit-shoes-/110976401057). Reasonably priced at $75 there.
There is a glowing review here (http://wlshoes.com/review/wei-rui-warrior-weightlifting-shoe/). Looks like a great choice for those on a budget.
’m officially labeling the Wei-Rui Warrior Weightlifting Shoe the VS/Pendlay/Rogue KILLER. Seriously, this shoe is that good and cheaper than any of those other brands. Without doubt the Wei-Rui Warrior represents the BEST VALUE in a weightlifting shoe that currently exists on the market.
