how to maintain strength on sprained ankle?

I went up for a rebound, got up pretty high, and this aggressive midget who couldn't get that high stepped in and i landed on his foot.

Midgets in basketball piss me off.  I am pretty short myself at 5'9 but midgets below 5'5 feel the need to play very aggressive to compensate for their height.  I should have picked this midget up and threw him at the glass window.

So now that i'm out from full contact and sprinting for 1-2 months, and squatting for atleast 3 weeks, what could i do to maintain my strength?  I have a degree 2 sprain, where there is a sharp pain if i put pressure on one side of my foot.  I tore one of the several ligaments in my foot.
33yrs | 24in SVJ | >45% BF | 227LB | 5'9 | 7'5 reach | 400lb max squat paused | 5'8 wingspan | 26in RVJ

Coming back from 2 years of inactivity!

Goal: Maintain 385-405lb squat while cutting down to 165 LB

yeah! midgets guys! shoulda throwed that guy through a window! that'd show him. that midget.

god you're exhausting. REST UNTIL IT GETS BETTER. lift upper body if it doesn't involve putting weight on your ankle. rehab properly. worry about strength when you have two healthy legs.
Muscles are nonsensical they have nothing to do with this bullshit.

You should do what LBSS says.  If it's of any consolation you're not that strong anyway so the rest shouldn't hurt your numbers much.

Rehab your ankle, strength comes and goes, it's just part of the game. Be smart about it though. No point making your injury worse. Ice, rest, medicate. Start on getting mobility back and having your injured foot being weight bearing before thinking about gym. With a grade 2 you probably can't even bench press without pain. Don't push it, just be patient.

I dont think i took much time off when I sprained my ankle earlier this year. i might have missed a couple of workouts but i found i could squat with my ankle taped up. if you have very little fwd knee travel, ankles dont flex much and you can get away with squatting to about parallel without bothering your ankle.

With ankle injuries, prevention is the best thing. Lance said something about being proactive about how you jump in games. You pick out an area to land which is low traffic and unoccupied. Don't jump higher than necessary. That's gold wisdom. Box out on rebounds so you have space to land safely. Get in a good position for a rebound and don't just jump up as high as you can from wherever you are. And is a rebound in a pickup game really worth your health and being able to train injury free?

When i had a badly sprained ankle i would go to the gym with it taped and wearing firmly tied high-top bbal sneakers.
I could squat ok, it bugged a little on deadlifts. But each sprain is different. Tape it , wrap it good , go to the gym and try a few excercises to see what you can do. If you can't do anything , you can't maintain strength either.

If you were a troll you would be an awesome one! Unluckily for us and you , you are not!  :uhhhfacepalm:
Target training paces (min/km), calculated from 5K PR 22:49 :
Easy run : 5:48
Tempo run : 4:50
VO2-max run :4:21
Speed form run : 4:02

it's the biggest trick in the run game.. go slow to go fast. it doesn't make sense until it smacks you in the face and you're like ....... wtf?

I have a degree 2 sprain,   I tore one of the several ligaments in my foot.

the swelling is totally gone.  that means almost no pain besides bending towards the position of the sprain.  time to train like chinese gymnasts!

Prior to your introduction to this site, it was debatable who the biggest dumb fuck really was.  You have achieved this title, beyond any shadow of a doubt, and its astonishing as the others were 15-18 years old.

Your squat videos were absolutely disgusting. Your "basketball" video was fucking terrible too, you have never played a lick of real ball other than possibly little dribblers, and even then you would come off the bench.

The only thing having a back that rounded is good for is getting penetrated from behind. Judging by your copious levels of estrogen, made obvious by your FUPA and possibly C cup breasts, a rounded back may be a good choice for your lifestyle, but not so relevant in terms of training.

If your goal was  "how to get f**ked like the big pile of pudding you are" video, then maybe people would take your advise more seriously. The only thing all that fat is good for is using your loose skin to bounce out of the hole and generate upward force to help you lift weight up.

Your video was seriously absolutely disgusting. Your whole body literally jiggled all the way through your lift and your back rounded like an obese camel-whale. You're seriously so fat, I could smack your ass and have an entire swim team ride your waves. You're seriously so fat you probably could use a mattress as a tampon for that big gaping mangina of yours. I could likely fold any flap of skin on your body and use it for intercourse.

You out of all people in this world wanna talk shit?! You are ugly, short, and very unathletic. And insanely fat to boot. You will likely lose your virginity in your mid to late 50s to some guy named Harry with a fetish for squashing fat ass asian gnomes. Obviously no girl would wanna come near a kid with titties that rival Pamela Anderson's, just a lot less perky and more floppy.

We get our share of trolls  ;D, but you are the worst of all. A fat, immature kid with absolutely no relevant training knowledge proceeds to just diminish every conversation to stupidity and has yet to post anything that could be regarded as a coherent thought.

You have bragged about having -ONLY- 20% body fat and dare try to call yourself an athlete. The only athletes as fat as you are sumo wrestlers and you aren't even fat/strong enough to gain their respect. I couldn't achieve 20% body fat if I stopped working out for the rest of my life and started taking chocolate intravenously.

stop being a little fat obese overbiting faggot or I will show bodybuilding.com who has been dishing out advice in the bball forums.  They will be very dissapoint.
