Awesome , one of his best articles in my humble opinion.
It also includes a god damn good template for intermediate trainees.
And finally 2 interesting pieces in that article:
I go into great detail on this topic in the upcoming VJB 2.0, but...
I plan to expand on this a GREAT deal in my upcoming Vertical Jump Bible 2.0 In the meantime however...
WTF , Vertical Jump Bible 2.0 !!!!!
:o ;D :P :strong: :highfive: :headbang:

I'd buy Kelly's programs when he does them alone. When he "affiliates" with people like Maroko I won't even look (OK, I'll look but I won't buy).
-
gonna read it tomorrow, sounds interesting!@$
-
Yeah it is interesting.

God damn it, now this article has me second-guessing my training plan again. I THINK TOO GOD DAMN MUCH ALREADY, FOR FUCK'S SAKE!
I will not change my plan until I've given it a real shot. I will not change my plan until I've given it a real shot. I will not change my plan until I've given it a real shot. LOL , i hear you.
Well , the ratio you designed for yourself is definately better.
Kelly gave out a long-term schedule transitioning in 5 phases , from GPP to peak. It is a god damn good program , but it is for everyone. Yours is 100% customised to your needs, starting from neutral and not GPP or hypertrophy etc.
Having said that , i was also very much tempted reading that template.
But my mind is already made up , ill complete my ratio , hopefully achieve significant gains in strength and work capacity and then i will do the high-freq template he gave in his previous article...
Hopefully he won't release VJB 2.0 by then otherwise our minds will toast! :P

How is your strength coming along vag?

How is your strength coming along vag?
It started much worse than i thought for only 3 weeks of detraining but its going up fast and linear so far.
In 4x6 squat heaviest set is currently 231 , PR is 254
In MSEM squating PR is 3x297 , i hit 2x264.
And in BSS i already caught my PR hiting 8x198 last time.
Im treating my current phase as GPP/hypertrophy so i dont freak out about PRs etc , that's for later.
-
Damn, 8x90 kg in the BSS? Much further in front of me... and I'm a one-leg jumper.
-
Sometimes I don't feel like buying Kelly Baggett's programs because everything he puts in his books are in his articles.
Solid info, it makes me feel skeptical if I'm ever going to get insane hops and speed. This basically seems like an extended version of what I read about in his No-Bull Speed Manual.
i'm definitely that guy who has more strength than he has speed, it sucks, I wish I was the opposite :-[
plyos really do give you an insane boost in the beginning for people who are stronger than fast or at least for me.
-
I like the 4 block basic routine, except it doesnt include any vertical jumps/running vertical jumps or sprints, which IMO are critical especially if your goal is VJ.
Wonder how hed tailor it to fit VJ?
-
Didn't everyone know this stuff already :P
Seriously
-
JCsBck, two things.
First: The fundamental principles, sure, but Kelly does keep coming up with new and ever-clearer ways of describing those principles and finding nuance in them. But yeah, you're right, haha.
Second: Can you change your user title to "Adarq.org's Resident Guido"? For some reason that's so much funnier. To me, at least. Or maybe I'm just weird.

It is similar to a section in the No Bull Speed Development Manual, but that was written 4 years ago. :) Most of the specific info. in my books is not in my articles. A lot of the priciples are, but there are only so many of those.

Man I'd say stick with what you're doing. I really like what you do. If you were to consult me likely the only thing I might suggest thinking about from a VJ perspective is how much you really benefit from a distinct hypertrophy phase. I'm not sure if it's the best thing in the world for you given your current size and qualities.

Really great article, such a good read...

Probably to mine because i had that "distinct hypertrophy" 1st phase , not 100% sure though. :ninja:
-
Yeah Vag I was replying to you.
-
Yeah Vag I was replying to you.
Thanks for the advice Kelly. :highfive:
This week's hypertrophy workout is the last of that kind , then there's one explosive and one MSEM workout and the hypertrophy phase ends after 3 cycles. In the coming hypertrophy transition phase i'll change the 4x6 squats to 5x5 and the 3x8 BSS to 3x5 paused.
-
Hypertrophy? What are you talking about? That's BAD! You only need strength. Or so they say... :ninja:

Didn't Kelly write an article called "The Myth of Relative Strength" or something like that? Bigger = stronger.
-
Yes he did.

Exactly , http://www.higher-faster-sports.com/relativestrengthmyth.html (http://www.higher-faster-sports.com/relativestrengthmyth.html)
Raptor , its not like im bodybuilding , the 1st phase was "hypertrophy-oriented" , serving more like a GPP role.
-
so at last
VJB 2.0 is finally out
and it is for those who registered in kellys emailing list.
-
So what?

So what?
Gives Scoobychau something to do when he's finished BoingVert.

I just got VJB 2.0 today, it's a 200 page manual. Even though I'm confident in my training I bought it for the information. It's a good read but some of it is from the recent articles from Kelly's website. I have lots of respect for Kelly and I think this book is worth the price.
-
Yeah I'd buy it too, is it an ebook or a physical paper manual? If it's a paper manual I have no idea if it's being shipped here in Romania etc, that's my issue.
-
It's a paper back book, 200 pages, Yeah I know shipping might kill you.
