post your hand measurements

I think the size of the hand is extremely underrated in lifting and basketball.  With bigger hands you can easily grab the bar on deadlifts.  Sometimes I feel like i am slipping on deadlifts bc my freakin' hands are so small.  I have large feet for my size but small ass hands.  That's nightmare for a bball player.  I think if my hands were bigger, I'd have better handles than aquille carr, whose 5'6 and definitely got bigger hands than me.

measurement- very bottom of palm to top of middle finger is 7.1 inches

thumb to pinky spread out as far as possible is 7.8 inches

height is exactly 5'7" and 4/5" so pretty much 5'8" w/o shoes.

Please post your hand measurements and height correlation and tips to cope with smaller hands.  Most ppl I play bball with have 1-3 inch bigger hands than me, rofl.  Its tough to use so much wrist power with smaller hands when shooting jump shot.

Actually, I have a long palm and find it weird to grab the bar on deadlifts... because instead of having a short, strong palm I have a palm with long and thin fingers than can't hold on to the bar well and the bar ends up held on the weak side of the fingers so to speak (at the fingers' middle distance).

Bottom of palm to top of middle finger is 7" inches
Bottom of middle finger to top of middle finger is 3" inches (very useful when I have to measure pipeline diameters lol)

Sometimes I feel like i am slipping on deadlifts bc my freakin' hands are so small.

You're slipping because your grip is weak.  I'm 6'1 and my hand is just short of 8in.

I'm about 6' and my hands are base to palm 7.25"  so, small for my height. but....

Try not to worry about this kind of thing.  Focus on what you do good, and do what you can to work on your perceived weaknesses.  I have small hands to, which is frustrating as hell;  I play piano, and can hardly play 10ths with my left hand, but that doesn't hold me back from the majority of what I try to play.  So I agree basketball and lifting would be a different game with different hands, but that along with so much else isn't one of those things we can control, right?

As far as deadlifts go, there is a hook grip you can use if your hand is big enough (mine aren't, yours probably aren't either) where you tuck your thumb between the bar and your fingers, which supposedly makes gripping much stronger for that exercise.  So in this sense, there is a threshold of around 7.5-8inch hands where a different grip is available.  If you can't do that, just do what you can and your grip will get stronger over time.  For the really heavy stuff, its okay IMO to use wrist wraps to get the workout you want.  Just don't use them for all of your lifts.

I guess my point is, this really isn't a monumental "short" coming.

Its hard to hit the clit and the G spot with 1 hand but if I make some effort I can do it

I'm 5'8'' without shoes
 have skinny/long bony fingers

7.5-8 inches depending on where you put the rules on the palm, I mean my hand is angled... longest measurement would be top of middle finger to ulnar side of palm (pinky side), where I'dt be almost 8.

But I'm replying to this comment because I don't have much prob with grip anymore, so I cannot relate to your experience on deadlifts. Even if I go a long time without DLing, my hand grip strength has not decreased, forearm size does decrease from not DLing in a while.
"Performance during stretch-shortening cycle exercise is influenced by the visco-elastic properties of the muscle-tendon units. During stretching of an activated muscle, mechanical energy is absorbed in the tendon structures (tendon and aponeurosis) and this energy can subsequently be re-utilized if shortening of the muscle immediately follows the stretching. According to Biscotti (2000), 72% of the elastic energy restitution action comes from tendons, 28% - from contractile elements of muscles.

For me it has never been a matter of hand size, but 100% a matter of ball surface quality and friction vs my hand surface quality and friction. That's all there is to it, hand size is not that important when palming.

For ME, it isn't. I can "palm" some balls with great grip using my thumb and my index finger. It doesn't take any length or grip strength at all. What it takes is friction.

But the "official" old balls I can never palm. Never ever. Too worn-down, can't palm them no matter what. I can't dunk a old ball. And these are the kinds of balls people play with at the park where I used to play.

Luckily, I don't give a shit about retarded basketball anymore.

Rapror:
This theory of you enrages me, especially after discussing it in detail in the relevant thread some time ago.
Of course friction is important but what are you saying? That for a given hand size and grip strength you palm a ball better if it has more friction? NO SHIT!!!
If you had longer hands and/or better pinch grip you would be able to palm more worn out balls than you do now, THAT's all there is to it!

Hyperdunk:
You are 5'7'' to 5'8'' , Stockton and Rondo are 6'1'' , Nash 6'3'' , MJ 6'6''. They don't have gigantic hands , they are just taller.

And my measurements:
I am hust below 6' barefoot , hand length is ~8'' and width ~10''.

it's the biggest trick in the run game.. go slow to go fast. it doesn't make sense until it smacks you in the face and you're like ....... wtf?

NO.

No matter how big my hand size would be, it would still come down to skin quality and "compatibility" of friction with the ball texture.

For example, I can palm some balls and a friend can't palm the balls I can palm, but he can palm some balls I can't palm. The difference? The ball texture. His palm skin has friction with some types of balls, my palm skin has friction with some OTHER types of balls.

Why do I say that palm size doesn't matter?

Because I had a period of time when I couldn't palm my size 5 ball. That's like me having a +4 inches of palm on a regular sized ball or something. It doesn't matter. If it slips, it slips. The end. In fact, if I try to squeeze it more it slips even harder.
