men's 1500m final & 10k final today.

can't wait.

Cheruiyot (1500m) and Cheptegei (10km)..

though, i'm pulling for RHONEX since he's in it.

Those Ethiopians are going to be tough to beat in the 10km final, but Cheptegei has done it before. Hope Cheptegei, RHONEX, or Bergea gets it. Berega/RHONEX being the youngins.

In fact, the only people under 27 min (PB) are all of the ETH's, Cheptegei (UGA), and RHONEX (KEN).

going to be epic.

as for 1500m, would love to see Cheruiyot & Jakob go under 3:30, with Cheruiyot winning.

Cheruiyot is the man to beat tho.. he's so consistent now.

hope Engels does well also.

Cheruiyot dominates 1500m. Pure domination:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uga45jtFAbo

10,000m was epic. RHONEX vs Cheptegei. They kept taking the lead from each other, the whole race.

RHONEX just doesn't have the kick yet to beat those guys in the last lap. He has to push the pace more before the last lap.

Love how RHONEX, Cheptegei & Cheruiyot love to front run. Cheruiyot especially. He wins every 1500m completely from the front, that's insane.

my dude RHONEX. the future of long distance racing.

AND OMFG @ MEN'S HIGH JUMP FINAL.

BARSHIM!!!!!!!

i have a memory of being in maputo, mozambique in 2011 and watching the world championships on tv. i think it was the first year barshim was competing and i thought to myself, "that dude looks fake." he's like a greyhound, just impossibly long and lean. cool that he won it all, finally.

i think he won gold in the in the 2017 world champs.

he's now looking like a gold medal threat in Tokyo. i like the dude, hope he stays healthy and can have some great jumps there.

Yeah, first to defend the high jump world championship title. Sotomayor won it twice as well, but at non-consecutive games.

Hoping Barshim is still in shape for 2020, I'm sure he's dreaming of Olympic gold.

Great world athletic championship, due to work I couldn't watch it live so watched the entire pre recorded live session and it was incredible.

Let me see if I can remember the high points.
So happy for mutaz with the high jump. He has adopted a new style of keeping his arms to the side. Sucks about him injuring himself attempting the world record but he came back strong.

4 x 100m relay is unbeatable - coleman, gatlin and lyles and any fast american left

EDIT:
4 x 400m relay also unbeatable for men and women, kerley, dalillah, mcglaughlin and so much excelllent 400m runners.
Hasan really awesome in the double gold, said she felt angry because of the alberto salazar charge and the suspicion on the atheltes on the oregon project, when she kicks, no one can catch her.

Pole vault was soo fun and exciting the head to head with the two top guys.

400m hurldes woman, wat a race. dalillah muhammad vs mclaughlin, great win and world record, don't know why it reminds of what would happen if terence will fight spence lol.

but the way nasser beat uibo in the 400m, she just went all out entire 400m.

110m hurdles sucks for ortega but glad he got a medal. the ingerbrigtsen are good but the kenyans, ethiopians and ugandans show when they kick they are far apart.

I was surpised and happy to see the german woman runner keep up with the kenyans and come bronze (Konstanze Klosterhalfen) 5000m but obiri on another level.

all in all great championship a lot of event were really good and exciting.

Warm up drills
 - a walk, b skip quick powerful switch (heel to hams focus), a runs, dribbles small to big to run, straight leg to runs (force, reflex, go up/forward). force to hit the ground before it hits the ground knee/hip is at 90 degrees.
 - acceleration: low heel recovery, shin angle low, drive legs back before hitting the ground and drive thighs/knee forward not up
-------------------------------------------------------------
Measuring reminder:
5 toe to heel steps = 148cm

yeah that was one of the best moments of the WC's. hope he stays healthy. hope to see him jump huge in Tokyo!

yea. they knew there were clouds hanging over Oregon Project though when they joined the team. so that's on them.

really hope they aren't on anything.. would be really "ballsy" to do stuff when the coach is actively under investigation etc.

i assume hassan/kajelcha are clean etc.

Mo is most definitely clean now.

these athletes are getting tested all the time. Julien Wanders posted a clip of his urine test AFTER participating in the ineos 159 challenge lmao.

LMFAO. it kinda reminds me of that too.. :highfive:

400m hurdles will not be the same after they are done with it.

Quote
but the way nasser beat uibo in the 400m, she just went all out entire 400m.

yea Uibo ran that like she knew she would win. Nasser took it.

Uibo was at a "disadvantage" though, not being able to see Nasser until it was basically too late.

epic performance by nasser. that's how you KO the champ.

i'd love to see Uibo try to double 200/400 in Tokyo.

110m hurdles sucks for ortega but glad he got a medal. the ingerbrigtsen are good but the kenyans, ethiopians and ugandans show when they kick they are far apart.

i think jakob has a better kick than most of them. but, trying to double at such a young age, and all of those heats, looked like it took the sting out of him.

lots of people mentioning that he's "gaining weight" (ie maturing). that could come back to haunt him for a while, at least in events > 1500m.

had he only done 1500m, i think he would have medaled, maybe even silver.

no way he (or any1) is beating cheruiyot tho.. cheruiyot is king right now.

:D

I was surpised and happy to see the german woman runner keep up with the kenyans and come bronze (Konstanze Klosterhalfen) 5000m but obiri on another level.

ya klosterhalfen is another project oregon athlete too.. her training partner is Hassan, I think.

assuming they are all clean, then klosterhalfen is no joke. she's a force at 1500m and 5000m.

hassan is the best right now though.. at 1500m, 5000m, 10000m.. not half tho. brigid kosgei is the queen of half+full now.

hassan is probably #2 at half.

she's the most versatile runner (middle + long) in a LONG time.

she could probably even medal at 800m.

all in all great championship a lot of event were really good and exciting.

yup!

great recap!
