Don't forget pornography. It sure does play a big role in people having under 40 inch jumps (lack of sex frustration = lack of aggressiveness = lack of rate coding = lack of inches on the VJ).

ANYWAY, yeah, people are into this expectation of 8 inches in 2 weeks because of marketing.

WTF????? when did this happen?

hahaha.. sick

boingvert is finally going in the right direction.

Shawn emailed me about this the other day but I wasn't allowed to say anything. Given it is all over YouTube and Facebook now I guess it is ok to share the story. Apparently Shawn knows the guys behind BV and they asked him for his opinion on it. Well he gave it. Anyone who has heard Shawn talk or read his stuff knows that he knows his Sh*t when it comes to vertical jump training. He is very passionate about it. Anyway he told them it was garbage and that people would view them as just cashing in on the dunkers mad hops.

Credit to them they then basically said fair enough, lets see you do better. So he is. In this he also made them agree to a few things about the way it is marketed too which makes me very happy. Why is it only people who actually train athletes who don't like hyped up marketing claims?

Anyway, I personally I can't wait to see what Shawn comes up with and hope that with the profile of the dunkers being used to promote it, plus a bit of Shawn's integrity (and it seems the BV guys integrity too for that matter - given that they were happy enough to get someone like Shawn involved) I think it is a very positive move for both BV and the jump training 'industry' as a whole.

JW

thanks for sharing man.. ya i'm actually excited now to see what Shawn does with them. It's funny to see people (BV) do 180's, go from negative (in my opinion) to positive (my new opinion hah). Shawn is a real coach, professor, author, speaker, athlete, and vert addict, so this is completely different than the fluff BV originally planned on putting out.

It's definitely going to be good for the vert world. Very glad he explained to them how their program would be viewed the way they were marketing it before, and how it was probably complete and utter crap (i'm sure he saw it, I imagine it consisted of foam rolling, stretching, and lots of low level hops & movements + prehab level intensity exercises), that's the vibe you get from dtrained & some of the info people have pm'd, that it was basically worthless SPARQ drills.

Like I said, if BV proved they would go 'legit', I would EDIT the original post. Well, I plan to edit the original post a little later. I'm simply going to mention how they are now going in the right direction with a real coach and the program will most likely be very solid, etc.

As for what raptor said, i'm fine with someone marketing something that they never used, as long as they don't claim to have used what the are marketing.. In this case, for example, a elite level dunker promotes BV, it would be fine if the program is solid. The problem is, those guys don't usually know how to tell if something is effective/solid or not. At least now they will be able to look at credentials (http://explosiveedgeathletics.com/staff.html) and a ton of youtube videos shawn has put out.

It's easier to sleep at night when the person designing a program that you're marketing, has these credentials (This doesn't even mention the books he's written chapters for etc):

Shawn Myszka, CSCS*D, SPS
Athletic Performance Director

Btw, JackW, this used to be BV's marketing talk:

"You have expressed interest in learning the secrets of the highest jumpers on the planet. You have asked T-Dub, Golden Child, Elevator, AirDogg, Werm, RudeBoi, Jonsey, JusFly and Young Hollywood what they do to jump so high: now they have answered in one word: BOING!"

They'd claim the dunker's didn't use the program in youtube comments, but in their marketing emails/whatever, they'd drop lines like that.. Now it looks like they are trying to get their integrity back, which they are able to do now.
