Title: Planet Fitness - wow go f**k yourself

nutty, but check this:

Quote
On top of wiener-izing their clientele and outfitting their gyms with equipment fit for a nursing home, Planet Fitness has yet another trick up their sleeve. The first Monday of every month is Pizza Day. Unlimited pizza for members, all day. They also have a Bagel Day, and on their own website they mention that they hand out over one million Tootsie Rolls per month to their members. That’s it, I’m calling conspiracy on this one! They set up this “judgment free” gym for “regular” people -no pressure, no contracts, no goals- and they give their clients free pizza and tootsie rolls? It’s a scheme, and they’re either the most wicked businesspeople on earth or the smartest. Or maybe both.

Imagine that I’m a drug dealer and you’re addicted to crack. You want to get clean but I keep dangling crack rocks in your face, telling you that “No one will judge you.” It’s going to be pretty hard for you to break that addiction when I keep fueling it, isn’t it? Even if I didn’t give you any crack, I’m certainly not helping you overcome your problem. Planet Fitness does the same thing, but instead of crack they throw pizza and candy in front of their clients’ faces. Even if the gym-goers choose not to eat the pizza, they’re still paying to go to a gym that doesn’t encourage them to change their lifestyle. What better way to keep clients coming back to your gym than to give them free fatty foods and create an environment geared towards not helping them lose weight? Maybe I should get in on this racket…

that makes a ton of sense..

seriously though, what a shithole, wish there was one near me.. i'd have to make a raid with my HD cam one day.

Its about ethics Damien. Having people that want to lose weight come to your gym so they can become more pussified and sticking empty calories in their face is unethical.

Why? It's mental training. Plus it's their choice to go there. Stupid people need to get exploited. It's just the American, capitalist way. Or you don't like it anymore?

wut, why you need a rack to deadlift wTf.. prop the bar up on a 5 lb plate, roll it onto it to put the extra 45's on that you need.. ;d

Not all Planet Fitnesses are as bad as the ones described in the article. The one I go to has a squat rack, 2 benches and an incline bench. I deadlift with chalk although I do clean up any mess. They have never used the lunk alarm since I've been there. The only person who was kicked out was harassing the female clientele.

The article is pretty accurate with regards to the members not really wanting to better themselves. But that is a good thing for me. I can use the squat rack for an hour and not be bothered with anyone. Most people who use the squat rack do it for curls and they have enough common sense not to interrupt someone who is truly working out.

Another benefit is that the women think I'm a beast when I deadlift 350 pounds. I know it's not a lot of weight at a real gym but it is at PF.

I've never seen anybody deadlift more in my gym than me, or squat. And I deadlift 330 lbs and squat 310.

I will say that the 1 Planet Fitness that I've been to, which my dad, and his really good friend workout at basically about 4 days a week, as well as my bro and his fiancee and a couple of my uncle's all belong to, doesn't have any free bars, they have about 4 Smith Machines with benches under them, they have DBs up to 70lbs.  And all the rest are machines and cable cross's.  I laugh when I go in there, they are stacked with cardio machines and they have 2 "Life Fitness" (or maybe Cybex) "circuits" if you want to call it that, so from what I've heard generally people, people go in there start on bicep curls and move on down the line like drones.  Wouldn't want to upset the establishment.

I don't understand how people can support this, they are hypocrites. They call it a judgement free zone yet they judge people by labeling people "lunks"... right. So basically they don't judge you as long as you are like them.

Also, they call themselves a fitness gym yet they don't promote a fitness lifestyle. They should take the fitness part of off their name and just call themselves "Planet". They are a disgrace to serious people/businesses in the fitness industry.  Offering shitty food and only allowing and encouraging low intensity training.

If reading this shit doesn't make you irate then wtf.

'da fuck outta here with this shit.

Exactly! When I stay with my extended family in Delaware during the summer, I go to a strength/bodybuilder/ barbell gym because i dont have a squat rack like i do at my new york house. But every time I go to the gym, the experience is terrific and the bodybuilders/strength guys are nicer than anybody else I encounter on a daily basis despite the fact that I'm a skinny kid squatting pathetic amounts of weight.

yup, I don't really even know what it means to be "motivated by a normal person".. I can't imagine getting motivated by anyone at planet fitness, can you? The "don't judge but we judge" mentality is ridiculous.

It's kind of funny how "weak out of shape people" group together to make fun of "strong athletic dedicated people".. baffles teh mind.

Guys, there not preparing for an Olympics, lol.

They are obviously there just for the health benefits, keeping the blood flowing. When I retire, I ain't doing nuttin', apart from dog walking.
