getting into track and field

hey fellas,

I am not in school, but I really want to "train for something"  is there a way for me to get into meets and what not with out being in school?

You could run unattached at a high school or college meet.  I'm not exactly sure but I think you won't be able to get into a DI meet unless you have recent good results, so if you haven't been in a meet recently you probably need to try to register in a DIII meet.  I don't know how you would sign up for one, but if you just ask someone who is in charge of the sports activities there they would most likely tell you how to do it.

Not sure about HS meets as I've never done it but you can certainly enter college meets as an unattached athlete and you don't need stellar results to do so unless they are short on spots in which case they may have entry time/distance/height cutoffs for unattached competitors. You can also search for All-comers meets in your area through USATF and its regional branches as well as meets put on by local groups or track clubs.
