Quote
They seemed to be just fine with him when he was simply a white supremacist, transphobic bigot, but his comments about child molestation seem to have crossed the line for some.

But here's the thing — this is who the Republican Party is. The President of the United States has more than a dozen women claiming they were sexually assaulted by him. His first wife said in a sworn deposition that he brutally attacked and raped her (she later said she did not want the word rape to be interpreted in a criminal sense). He was recorded bragging that he forces himself on women and grabs their genitalia whenever he feels like it. And after our nation heard that recording, he was still elected.

...

When your President has such low character, particularly around the issues of sexual assault, you end up with tens of millions of Americans who have compromised their own integrity in the name of getting him elected, and they now lack the ground to stand on to say anything about sexual assault in general.

With Trump and Milo, sexual assault and child molestation are becoming nightmarishly normalized. I wish it was bad fiction, but it isn't. The perverts are in power.

Muscles are nonsensical they have nothing to do with this bullshit.

Sex crimes against children is the universal deal breaker (understandably) - finally something both sides can agree on, bipartisanship. This definitely "outs" the GOP, that's why it's such a perfect situation. They can sit idly by at racist, bigoted, xenophobic, sexist comments .. but as soon as it veers off into pedophilia, game over. However, Trump has made several disgusting comments regarding children (thinking about young girls sexually as they get older, perving on miss teen usa contestants etc). GOP didn't address those.

You'd think if Trump made such comments, his supporters would turn on him.. Maybe the GOP would pull child-sex quotes out of the bible to justify it.

The GOP is probably extra concerned with pedophilia considering their close ties to religion - and the numerous pedophile/child sex crimes that occur in "the church".. Several politicians too, including the former speaker of the house (hastert). This is the REAL pizzagate.

hah cool.

I know a few (formerly) smart people who bought into pizzagate, hard.. I remember asking them for proof, most all of it was discussion in reddit threads, over "weird comments" that were easily debunked; like that "hot dog stand in hawaii" quote. I've stopped talking to alot of people lately, feels great not hearing/reading their garbage.

did you ask them to imagine what it must have been like for the staff and customers there for a dipshit from north carolina to show up randomly with a big gun and fire a shot into the floor?

i've spent hours and hours at comet. my best friend's rehearsal dinner was there last august, i made my first-ever wedding speech in the back room there. pizzagate hit pretty close to home. and, like i said, i'm friends with the owner (whose ex-husband started media matters, which is why the right wing assholes fixated on it). fuck anyone who believed that shit.

Yup, I did actually. I tried to convey the idea that their customers and employees who work there, will never feel completely safe. That Alex Jones, Flynn's son, Trump's reddit, basically have put "hits" out on these people. The lack of empathy & lack of concern is what surprised me ... I know (knew) a "real liberal" who bought into some of these conspiracy theories. The "hatred & disgust" for Hillary is so intense in some people, that it's really mind blowing tbh... The real conspiracy here, is how these people are being "infected".

I mean, how can anyone watch Alex Jones? I tried a few times, couldn't last more than 1-2 minutes. He's just so transparently repulsive.. And then at the end, he has a supplement line? I mean wtf?

Alex Jones seems to be a common thread in all of the people I know who are batshit..

The weirdest thing about people who listen to Alex Jones.. is i'll ask them, "ok so why doesn't Alex Jones talk about the Trump/Russia ties?". So their answer is basically, this "global child sex trafficking ring" is just trying to smear him, and good for Russia if they helped expose the ring - via pizzagate". Meanwhile, Russia is probably one of the biggest sex trafficking countries in the world.

People are being re-wired.

Also, having a president who respects (and forwards his propaganda/lies) Alex Jones, is so damn dangerous..

ya man. every time I hear about pizzagate, I actually think about that place (and what I learned about it - being so open to all people), and how these extreme right wing nutbags so carelessly try to destroy things like this.

feels like we're reliving the 50's, out of nowhere.

regarding the Alex Jones/Trump relationship:

http://www.slate.com/blogs/the_slatest/2017/02/21/trump_and_alex_jones_in_contact_white_house_seems_to_acknowledge.html

I mean, even casual contact is disgusting- IMHO. Jones shouldn't have any connection to the WH, wtf?

Quote
[Jones] is apparently taking on a new role as occasional information source and validator for the president of the United States, with whom, Mr. Jones says, he sometimes speaks on the phone.

occasional source & validator.... disgraceful.

more on milo and his asshat followers: https://psmag.com/on-the-milo-bus-with-the-lost-boys-of-americas-new-right-629a77e87986#.za5ipggaf

"...a defining feature of the new-right populists is their ability to build a reputation as rhino-hided truth-sayers while flailing their hands in panic if anyone uses whatever words happen to hit them where it hurts.

...

It seems perfunctory to point out the hypocrisy of building a movement and a career on the back of insulting people — Muslims, migrants, women, people of color — while nursing a hair-trigger sensitivity to any personal attack you haven’t pre-approved. That hypocrisy, though, does not appear self-evident to anyone within this movement, because a fundamental tenet of far-right pro-trolling is that it’s only other people’s feelings that are frivolous. Their own feelings, by contrast, including the capacity to feel shame when they’re held accountable for their actions, are so momentous that infringing them is tantamount to censure, practically fascism in and of itself. These are men, in short, who have founded an entire movement on the basis of refusing to handle their emotions like adults."

Among the most contentious topics Cotton tried to avoid talking about was the repeal of the Affordable Care Act’s protection for pre-existing conditions. When a woman who said that she would be denied coverage without that provision of the insurance law asked Cotton if he would commit to a workable replacement for Obamacare, the senator thanked her and asked for “a couple of more comments or questions about health care.”

i liked this other article you linked, some good writing:

https://www.currentaffairs.org/2017/02/what-well-tolerate-and-what-we-wont

The hypocrisy from the GOP/alt-right is just a perpetual disgrace. I mean one of the biggest "snow flake" reactions i've ever seen, is this transgendered bathroom issue.. I could actually understand if they were only concerned about public bathrooms - I mean I can get into their heads, though I disagree.. But school bathrooms? They are afraid of a transgendered adolescent using their gender-identity bathroom? They care so much about that, that they actually spend valuable political time & capital to prevent kids, who are going through ALOT (understatement) simply being transgendered, from using the bathroom that makes them feel most comfortable? A 10 year old or 14 year old for example, who identifies as female - dressed as a female, having to use a male bathroom, because why? Strength & anti-political correctness? No. Honestly that's one of the weakest positions one can have, that i've ever seen.

If I could find the term for the most delicate structure on earth, it would apply to that mindset.

I actually wish that were the truth though; that they are just weak. But the truth, is that they enjoy punishing the weak and marginalized. If it doesn't fit their utopic, mostly white heterosexual judeo-christian narrative, they will active seek policy which hurt people.. and actively seek political operatives like Milo, Coulter, Alex Jones, Bannon, and fucking Trump - to hurt people. They want to destroy these ideas that threaten their ideal worldview.

I didn't even mention not selling "wedding cakes" to gay couples.

I mean wtf?

Claiming to be anti-PC at some point just needs to be linked to "not being a decent human being", for the most part. I rarely see it used in a respectful manner.

just saw this, sums it up:

“She is so frightened she will be picked up and deported before she can prove her citizenship,” he said, “she has started carrying her birth certificate with her.”

damn..

Quote
HURCHES ARE PLAYING a big role in resisting emboldened immigration enforcement across the country. Church leaders have trained volunteers, led demonstrations, and even offered sanctuary to people with outstanding deportation orders. Their resolve could signal a coming showdown with a president who already has the tools to dramatically accelerate deportations.

Quote
Paraphrasing the remarks of a United Methodist theologian, Mickle wrote: “If the choice is between honoring a president’s campaign promise, or honoring the commands of Jesus, the Church has no choice but to follow Jesus, even if it leads us to stand up against the actions of the government.”

the church dynamic adds some extra weirdness to this inevitable showdown. GOP vs churches.. wut.

https://wikileaks.org/ciav7p1/

the CIA leaks are nuts.

here's an article which a former FBI counter-terrorism guy linked on twitter, so I imagine he echoes the sentiments: http://www.slate.com/articles/news_and_politics/war_stories/2017/03/wikileaks_cia_hacking_tool_trove_helps_russia.html

thing is.. Seems like the US is trying hard to stay out of this leak war.. They are losing in public opinion, but probably still winning the actual (cyber) war.. but it's starting to seem like public opinion is becoming the real war.

I mentioned this earlier on twitter, just messing around:

Pretty soon we're going to see damaging leaks reported on by Breitbart, Infowars, etc - in order to legitimize them. Twisted.

Roger Stone uses his Wikileaks channel, plants a claim in Breitbart, Trump praises it, media laughs, then it turns out to be verified.

Steve Bannon exploits his position to plant a claim in Breitbart, Trump praises it, media & dems laugh, turns out to be valid. #ComingSoon

I was messing around but I also think that it's going to happen.. For example, "what if" Obama actually tried to "tapp" Trump? Everyone's (anti-trumpers - gop/dems included) laughing at it, appalled at Trump's tweets, appalled at the seemingly reckless claims, citing Obama Admin sources that it didn't happen, saying how he wouldn't have been able to do it etc etc.. I believe he's full of shit & just regurgitated some right-wing shockjock conspiracy theory.. BUT, what if this was architected by people like Bannon or Stone, who actually have sources which will validate his claims? If that were to happen, Trump would look like a "genius" and the "mainstream media" (and most of the reputable press organizations) would get "demolished". If you wanted to chip away at the free press's credibility, you could architect a few of these stunts by working with hostile nation states who have dirt on our gov.. This shit is crazy & it's only going to get crazier - France is probably going to be the next victim.

Also, I doubt Trump condemns this.. how crazy is that? The president of the US not condemning wikileaks for posting troves of secret data from one of the US's most important spy agencies........ that doesn't compute.

Anyway, i'm all for transparency & governments not abusing their power.. So I love responsible leaks. I like when they are being used for "good", not "bad" (to achieve a covert political objective, create conflict, or hurt someone etc).

my dad watches fox news (fml).. and I was watching some of it tonight.. looks like fox news is starting to push the idea that the CIA could have hacked the DNC & used techniques to attribute it to russia. they are gently creating that narrative.

sure that's actually possible.. but it's a conspiracy theory that they are about to try and use to to defend Trump, in there regular misinformation campaign.

man.. crazy shit.
