the three-week delay thing is so critical. people have no imagination and they've been taught by the right wing for years not to believe the news, not to believe the government, not to believe scientists. so you get 50+% of the US population thinking this is no big deal. the problem is that if everything works, the numbers will level off and the locking down will look like an overreaction because not so many people will get sick or die. but everything is not working, in which case yeah, hundreds of thousands of people at least will die.

brazil is dealing with a similar leadership problem with bolsonaro.
Muscles are nonsensical they have nothing to do with this bullshit.

This one looks great.

Related, not sure if posted in here, i searched a bit and didnt find it:
https://techstartups.com/2020/03/18/hydroxychloroquine-found-potent-chloroquine-vitro-treatment-coronavirus-sars-cov-2-new-study-published-nih-shows/

TLDR : 70yo molaria drug being used/tested in France , promising results : only 25% of people that took had the virus in 6 days , percentage for the population that didn't take it was 90%.

Don't panic, stay home/anti-social as much as possible, protect the weak/elders, show your social consciousness and compassion and be patient for a few weeks, this shit is going down.

It's funny the reason they gave for not closing schools is that children will be in contact with elderly people and therefore have more chance of contracting virus but that excuse was lame.

Exactly, they did not take it seriously, but now it's reached this stage, they think hmm maybe we should do something.

BERGAMO - A war theater image: in the center of Bergamo. A long column of military vehicles stops in via Borgo Palazzo - a few hundred meters from the cemetery. They are the army vans used to transport the coffins from the Bergamo cemetery to the crematoria of other regions.
The reason, as is now known, is that the mortuary in Bergamo has not been able to accommodate the coffin of coronavirus victims for days. And the same goes for the crematorium (there is only one in town, it is active 24 hours a day). Ever since Covid-19 began to mow down the Italian Wuhan - Bergamo remains the most affected province in the country so far - cemetery services and funeral agencies have gone haywire.
To relieve the cemetery's mortuary - with no more space available - it had been necessary in recent days to line up the coffins of the deceased in the church of Ognissanti, inside the cemetery. Since yesterday, the solution identified to deal with the emergency has been the use of army vehicles. Coronavirus victims are transported to other regions: starting from Emilia Romagna. The first shipments of the coffins were in Modena.

Coronavirus Lombardia, 1,959 deaths, +319 on yesterday. Fontana: "Soon no longer able to help those who get sick"

The President of the Region: "Stay home or we will be more aggressive". Lombardy asked the telephone companies to monitor movements beyond 300 meters, the result: 40% of the Lombards still around. Gallera: "But we are not Big Brother". Too many corpses to cremate in Bergamo: the army moves them to Modena

Deaths still rise in Lombardy and in the last 24 hours they are higher than ever since the beginning of the coronavirus emergency. In one day, according to data released by the Welfare Councilor, Giulio Gallera, there were 319 deaths. The total number of deaths for Covid19 in the region therefore rose to 1,959. "The numbers are those of a continuous battle and almost all grow in a lower way than yesterday (except deaths, ed.) And this is a fact that we must take note of, even if it is a trend and not a day-to-day evaluation ", commented Gallera. The province of Brescia grows in number of infected more than Bergamo. In Brescia, Gallera said, we are at 3785 positive, more than 484 compared to yesterday while in Bergamo, with a total of 4305, growth is 312, in line with the last two days. In Lodi,

"Unfortunately, the numbers of the infection do not decrease, they continue to be high. In a short time we will no longer be in a position to give an answer to those who get sick": the president of Lombardy Attilio Fontana left here to ask everyone to "stay at home". "Friends I am saying it in a polite way, but in a while you will have to change the tone because if you don't understand it with the good ones you have to be a little more aggressive also in making it understood. We are not asking you for a sacrifice like that, but to save some human lives. Every leaving home is a risk for you and for others. " The words of the governor who speaks of the coronavirus situation are dramatic. "For now, we ask you with the usual tranquility but, if we go ahead, we will also ask the government for strong manners".

Words that come after yesterday's news, when the Region communicated the data on the movements, with the telephone cells used to understand who leaves the house: and in Lombardy, yesterday, still 40% of the people made movements beyond the 300 meters, despite the prohibitions and appeals not to leave the house to limit the spread of coronavirus infection .

A remote control, with the councilor lal Welfare Giulio Gallera who this morning hastens to clarify: "There is an application that the big telephone companies have made available to see in an aggregate and totally anonymous way the flow of people, such as they moved inside or outside the region. Nobody controls like Big Brother. "

Four other children who contracted coronavirus remain hospitalized, three of them in critical condition, the relative, Roseann Paradiso Fodera, said.

Even my remote opportunities seem to have vanished as uncertainty increases.

etc..

yep they're talking about the UK economy shrinking 15% in Q2. that would be depression level.

i just hope the inevitable stricter lockdown they impose in london -- as early as tomorrow, per reports -- doesn't preclude going outside to exercise as long as you stay well apart from others. the SF-style "shelter in place" lockdown, which allows grocery and pharmacy trips and for outdoor exercise, seems sane and tolerable. hope people are being responsible enough here that they don't have to get the military to keep people indoors. so much uncertainty.

yea man

shelter in place might be more effective initially, so i think more govs will go that route soon. it'll suck that's for sure. but with so many contagious people early on, might be the only route initiailly. also, if someone has cv19, ie they are going for a run.. cv19 "droplets" everywhere. of which, may survive for several days. people are tracking this stuff in to their homes via shoes/pets apparently. i mean they are spraying streets/sidewalks/buildings etc in some areas. if it can survive on surfaces that long, and be tracked in so easily, without shelter in place there could be a massive hole in the "defense".

dno. just absolutely crazy.
