Random violence seems to becoming more of an issue everywhere.

https://www.news.com.au/national/victoria/outrage-over-alleged-coward-punchers-bail-release/news-story/0e47403782f0cdb7b9199a4a3e52f097

i just don't get it. it's such trash.

similar, this guy got 3-10 for an unprovoked sucker punch that killed a father of 5, could be out earlier. very similar to the incident i posted about in my journal .. this father was there for a bachelor's party or something, fell and hit his head fatally.

https://people.com/crime/man-sentenced-las-vegas-sucker-punch-kills-another/

just crazy that people do stuff like that. I think anyone can understand it if it's an actual fight, but just a random sucker punch? wtf?

while looking through youtube. I was a bit late on this but came across this video.
Such deep meanings. Racism in america, violence, gun control and etc.

ya it's good.

biggest thing for me is the "profitability of violence" in the US, that music video touches on that throughout.

I mean I grew up in it.. some of the music/movies I post are violent as fu*k. My life could be very different if I had grown up with bad/neglectful parenting, grew up in a worse area, etc. It's just too easy for people (young boys/men especially) in this country to become consumed by violence. This country is basically training it in to people. I speak mostly of "this country" (USA) because I grew up in it, you can't escape it.

On the idea of parenting. I did a small experiment with my 2nd dog (James, the beefy silky). I didn't hit him at all, ie for when he did something bad like poop on the floor etc. My mom & I gave Gizmo (the thin/smaller silky) little spanks for stuff like that - so we hit him. Gizmo snaps on other dogs. I had to stop bringing him to the park because he doesn't back down, if a dog messes with him he'll fight hard. Gizmo flinches when you raise your hand on him sometimes. James is a big wimp, happy af, cuddly, submissive if some other dog messes with him. If you hit him now for something he did wrong, he wags his tail, he doesn't even understand it. He doesn't even know it's some form of punishment - i've actually done it a few times to see what he'd do and he has no clue what i'm doing, thinks it's a playful hit. He doesn't flinch when you raise your hand. He does however, snap at Gizmo sometimes because, Gizmo actually taught him how to be violent. Gizmo attacked him many times when he was a young pup. So, my experiment failed somewhat because the dog I spanked (unknowingly a problem to me initially), eventually taught the dog I tried to keep away from violence - how to be violent. :ninja:

So I guess what i'm trying to say is, even with good parents, American society itself can be a very bad parent/influence. With bad parents, one can find themselves in a world of trouble, and have absolutely no idea about the "forces infecting them".

peace!

Man that is deep. I never thought of it like. I never understood and I don't think anyone outside of the US can truly understand how strong the influence is in regards to being on the streets and being consumed by the violence and crime that goes on. It sounds surreal. You hear these boxers from brooklyn, philadelphia, where people live in rough neighborhoods, defending themselves, being influenced sometimes and trying to survive.

But I guess it can be a good thing in helping you survive in the streets, but def not so good in being involved and falling into these sort of problems.

shit is crazy man. awful. same story - thoughts & prayers, no action. I don't even know if there's thoughts & prayers anymore tho.. shit is happening so often, you don't see politicians spewing those lines as often as they used to.

I don't know how anyone feels safe in the US, I know for sure I don't.

No matter where I go, there's always part of me that's "alert" to the idea of attacks etc.

Hip hop music industry is/was the #1 promotion of violence and it's not even close. It used to be that if u didn't commit crimes, u couldn't be a good rapper.... u had to at least have smoke weed or something .... or at least get into fights a lot... if you have murders under your belt, that means you can get further in hip hop.....

today it's changed a bit but pretty much the same.... music is powerful influence....

that's like 10-20+ years ago.. doesn't seem like that at all now.

rap seems much less violent now than a decade ago.. I mean just look who is at the top. back then it was big/pac/nas for example, now it's drake. Drake is hardly a violent rapper.

maybe it's like that where you are but it's def not that way anymore in the US.

i agree, toxic music is toxic.

though, i always find it interesting how people blame music instead of actual wars & mass incarceration policies etc: ie, REAL VIOLENCE, created by the GOVERNMENT.

i'd blame perpetual warfare, militarization of police, domestic terrorists, the drug war, & mass incarceration before blaming media/music.

i mean you bring up rappers/violence, but white men (I single them out for a reason) in America have been doing mass shootings for years and it's only getting worse. you think they are inspired by rap music? I mean, these white dudes who kill 30+ people at a time by shooting up schools, synagogues, churches, malls, movie theaters, concerts, etc.. they are inspired by Lil Uzi Vert? no.

people conflate drug related crime & music. "entertainers" usually make music about those worlds. it definitely helps glorify it. but those worlds themselves exist with or without shitty music. in addition, it's not only rap. you're singling it out. don't forget about cartels & white supremacist drug organizations. some guy in a cartel right now is getting amp'd up to mariachi music before dumping someone in a barrel of acid..

violent "entertainment" is just a small branch on this deeply rooted tree of violence. heh.

my 2cents.

i heard someone say "Vanilla ISIS" the other day.. thought that was witty and accurate.

anyway, to me the violence in America comes from the top down.. the top is white as fu*k, male, and seems to like going after "brown communities" (domestic, or in foreign wars etc). so that's why I bring that aspect of it up.

Sure the top is "white as hell" but when a colored person reaches the top, he does the same things the whites do anyway, so race doesn't really mean anything at the top, its more liek they do what they do because they're at the top not because of race.

The % of mass shootings vs beef/crime/gang related homocides is like a grain of sand vs a beach tho....

I know where u're coming from, i agree with you to a certain extent but still....
